Wanna throw this here (hehe) cause I was having problems with it but it seems that for the escape throws, they don't work if you're holding block. That is absolutely where I've been going wrong so i thought I'd share in case someone else has the same issue
On your part about Fuzzy Guarding where Johnny is using low hat + overhead you didn't mention thats called an HTB (Hard To Blockable) but also forgot that there is HTB protection in MK1 so any overhead and low hitting within 1-3 frames of each other will be auto blocked if they block the first one correctly. So all HTB's are 4 franes apart and have 3 frames to fuzzy guard them after the first hit is blocked. And fuzzy guarding is literally just holding Down on D-pad while holding block and letting off Down to instantly Guard high to block an overhead in 1-2 frames. Most mix in the game is 5 franes apart, for example: Johnnys 212(high,mid, overhead)/2134(high,mid,low, overhead) is 7 frames apart on 3rd hit. The overhead is 21 frames and low is 17 frames of startup sp if you block low until when the low would hit then fuzzy high you cover both options called Fuzzy Guarding. Same with Reiko but you have to do Duck OS which is ducking without boock for a split second then doing the Fuzzy at a certain timing and it covers his Overhead, Low, Mid abd CMD Grabs/Throw

I have the feeling that with MK1 blocking is pure rng. Because you also block the combos properly, they still go through, it's all about input delay and WiFi and 0% skill
Maddog is underrated and this is the first video I’m watching. I hope he truly goes in depth with the game is amazing so far maybe ah little buffs and nerfs here and there but that’s every game. W video keep it up😌
I find that another good way to block certain characters is to practice with them in practice mode even if I don´t particulary like them. That way I can see wich moves are the slowest or the fastest or the ones that will be used the most by other players
I was told to play towers since its my first fighting game, Im playing on very hard but I feel like everytime I make a move the cpu does the opposite 😂. I can complete but with a lotta retries, I think this thing on practice mode will be better for me
Very hard CPU isn’t exactly the best practice for a beginner as it is more of a timing your input kind of game as the CPU reads your inputs straight away and that’s why it counters you. It does teach you to keep your nerve and not to mash and deal with pressure but you can do better in actual practice mode where you can repeat drills and practice combos without the CPU beating you senseless. Beginners tend to panic or rush and enter their inputs quickly and mashing is not a good habit. For example, if you get knocked down and straight away hold delay wake up or try to do a surprise attack with wake up buttons, the CPU will already know and respond accordingly. There’s a certain sweet spot in terms of timing where you input buttons without the very hard CPU countering you. I’m a beginner too but I’ve had enough practice to where I delay my inputs so the CPU can’t counter me and I can actually play against them decently. I suggest playing on hard instead or just going into practice mode and do drills first before playing very hard.
You can’t block its just the game with lag spikes and crazy stuff even when you up block its like 1% you can counter the attack its just lagging ass game with unblockable combos people grabbing for life because this dumb let you do combos in grab
Bro thanks a lot for these videos, they've been helping me a lot playing online, and I know that you have been dealing with stuff but we really appreciate the content!
Players should master Flawless block! Its heavily slept on. You take no chip damage, and opponent doesn't gain meter. I was looking out for this in your video, but i didnt see it. Great video!!!
I’ve covered it in a separate video in the past in depth. It was really worth learning because of the counter measures. But now if you compare to the past, there isn’t a whole lots of benefits in trying to learn something so difficult. Link: ua-cam.com/video/saVh4E9gpfw/v-deo.htmlsi=lihNcfTLsBpOo44V
@MadDoggGames Yea, I know about Flawless block across MK games. I was just conveying that more players should add it to their resume of defense. Yes, it's a difficult technique, but that's what practice is for. I catch myself doing it more now I'm aware that it does help. Thanks for the link!
Are the characters different? If so, then it's just frame data - their attacks are faster. If not, then it may be a combo of controller input delay and ping.
Haha. Love this training mode method of holding block. Don't worry, I been playing Mk11 Story on Very Hard. And blocking and dying are the two most common things. :D
I don’t know why you complaining about Johnny Cage when other characters have it much worse to deal with. Like Smokes options are all save and full screen. Ashrah as well and Raiden overhead
Thanks for this Dogg! As a Baraka/Cyrax main which, yes I know that’s a pairing that, most players hate fighting against and I’ll admit the character is extremely tough to fight against and I hate fighting against him but, playing as him with Cyrax cameo is just too much fun and at the end of the day, isn’t that what we play any video game for is to have fun and want to keep learning more about it?
I don't know what education system you grew up in, but in my case if the words "how to" is mentioned, there is a proper example or a fine result shown. Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Math,..in English too. Heck, "how to" videos from other FG creators show examples or results. Anybody can make a video with footage and say "practice, practice, practice"@@MadDoggGames All theory, and nothing practical.
@@AllenJohn it’s not that deep lmao. I added Fuzzy Guard segment last min and was too lazy to make an actual clip calm down. It’s just a concept not a hard core in depth breakdown. This is to spread awareness, not a step by step video because that concept can be explain in further detail and can be it’s own video. Against many scenarios, and matchups. I just skimmed through it. Didn’t I do that in the rest of the video? Ps. Don’t you know the English language is vague sometimes? This is still a HOW TO VIDEO. It’s “HOW” you practice that makes a difference. Otherwise, how do the PROS improve so damn quickly? Because they know what to look for. It’s not just practice practice. Anyone can do that. This video DOES show you DRILLS that many aren’t aware of for learning how to improve defense quickly. I’ve been teaching MK for a long time now and you will be surprised that these “common sense” things are not applied as much. If you let people try to figure it out on their own, they will give up most of the time.
Fuzzy guard is one of the important guard techniques in Tekken (my FG of choice) @@MadDoggGames And, there is a 60 second video explaining the fuzzy guard for MK11 with an example on youtube. You couldn't show a successful fuzzy guard in this whole video? And used Johnny Cage and Kung Lao as an example for what? An unsuccessful fuzzy guard ? That is counterproductive. It was easier to learn on how to handle the "Johnny Cage/Kameo Kung Lao" hat pressure via a match between TGC Turkey vs Kevo (East Coast Throwdown 2023 - Mortal Kombat 1 Pro Kompetition | Day 1 Pools) than watching the short video on fuzzy guard. Timestamp 5:45:50 Any tom dick and harry can become teachers, but not all teachers are skilled to teach well. And don't use excuses as "English is Vague". When I questioned you, you started thinking and you mentioned "This is to spread awareness". The word "Awareness" is not vague, and it can be replaced with the word "Reminder". Either of those two words should have been mentioned in the title of the video instead of "how to blah blah blah blah". I am not judging your skills, other videos or your personality or anything about you. Just one section about this video. Consider this criticism. When someone write "How To" , it means "HOW TO" and not just spread awareness with no examples or results. Make you intentions known from the very beginning, so people like me don't have to waste our time on being made "aware".
@@Drayghon can you elaborate? Are you saying that (for example) football coaches are useless?
