Hey ladies, you can work this out - just take a close look at the pieces she's using, as she demonstrates, with her verbal instructions. This method will make one quadrant (1/4) of the 8 pointed star. Then you need to make 3 more the same way and you'll have the whole Lemoyne star block :). It's so easy, I love it. Here's a hint...the rectangle is 3" x 6 1/2" , the small square is 3", the large square is 4", the unfinished block size is 12 1/2". Now, you can do it, too!!!!!!!....PS: Don't forget to press seams open...:)
Thanks! That is so much easier that set in seams! I've been wanting to make a mixed block quilt with this block, but never have because of the difficulty. Now, I can do it the easy way!
If anyone actually wants the magazine noted, the link doesn’t work. However, I googled mcCalls quilting magazine, Sept/Oct 2015, and it went right to it. They sell digital downloads.
Tried to buy the September/October 2015 issue by going to site. Not a choice on the site. Why do they make it so hard if the want to sell their product?
So I'd like to make one that half the size... can I just halve the piece sizes?? Should that still work?? I've try some test ones and none look square! Not sure if it's just my cutting/sewing or if my dimensions are wrong to begin with. So frustrating! (I've been trying 1.5x3.25 rectangle, a 1.5x1.5 and 2x2 squares...) help!?!
What an quick & easy way to make Le Moyne Star. It will also use up my scrap bag! But where are the instructions for the measurements to cut, am I missing something? Pat the Quilter
Pat Hixon Hi, I think you have to purchase the magazine, McCall's Quilting September / October 2015 to get the measurements for this block. Bummer huh?
This looks so easy, but my finished block is 11". Is it possible to include A WAY TO TRANSFER THIS IDEA TO MY MEASUREMENTS? I am not good at math, but I definitely can follow a formula. Please help
Here's the link to "Download a cutting chart" of the Lemoyne Star (pdf): www.quiltingdaily.com/lemoyne-star-quilt-block-without-set-in-seams-free-block-builders-workshop-video-lesson/
The rectangle is 3" x 6 1/2". The SMALL square is 3". LARGE square is 4". See comment with link at the top, for your FREE LeMoyne star pattern download - from McCall's Quilting magazine! Any more questions?
I've been sewing long enough that I can figure this out on my own. I'm just amazed (maybe I should say shocked) that they would make a video for this then tell you to buy the magazine to get the rest of the instructions. I'm watching this for the first time 3 years after the fact. Really McCalls?? People use this site to find help. All you did is disappoint.
Работа прекрасная. Способ пошива звезды понятен, а нигде ни единого размера не показано, для русско язычных швей проблема, а жаль, что такая подача работы, всё только за деньги?
I think it would have been nice instead of using a plain mat to have used a cutting mat with markings for those of us who can't afford to buy the magazines and patterns.
Not only is it frustrating and completely insane but they just lost a customer with me because they feel to get the sizes of things. They should take a lesson from Jenny at Missouri star

Thank you very much Carol for the informations regarding the sizes of the different pieces.
Carol, thank you!
Thank You
Thanks very much. Carol
You, ma'am are an ANGEL! Thank you!
Looks like a smooth and care free block to do this way. I think this will be my next pattern to use.
Oh my word where have you been all my life! I have so many templates I don't even know what they are for now. THANK YOU 😍
Erin,
You make that technique look so easy. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Thank you for the tutorials!
Awesome tutorial! Thanks for helping me to reach proficiency with the Lemoyne Star!!
Thank you, I have always wanted to make this star but your way is great and I understand it. ❤❤
BEAUTIFUL AND SO EASY DEMONSTRATION. THANK YOU.
I love the technique!!! I just made this star with the set in seams and it was confusing and a pain!!! I will be using this technique from now on!!!!!
Thanks! That is so much easier that set in seams! I've been wanting to make a mixed block quilt with this block, but never have because of the difficulty. Now, I can do it the easy way!

I have the magazine but nice to see a video too. I am currently making 3 Lemoyne stars with Christmas fabric for a table runner.
Thank you so much!! What an easy way to make the star!! 💕💕
Love this. I know I have this magazine, Will be checking it out. Thanks McCall's!
One way to reduce waste is to upsize the square and make 2 HST's which are sewn on the diagonal when joining the two blocks.
I was thinking the same! Great idea and I’ll test it today!
@@Elleffe I now use the set in seams to make these beautiful blocks. Once you master it, and you will with practice, you will omit the extra seams.
Can I get the size of the star each piece
Why didn't I find this sooner! Thank you....do you have a way to size these?
Great tips and the “ Add a quarter” ruler is brilliant for this too, thank you great tutorial
Fantastic! Easy and Fun! Thank you very much!
What are the measurements of the fabric please? I would love to try this, but I don’t know what to cut. 😉
Tried to buy the September/October 2015 issue by going to site. Not a choice on the site. Why do they make it so hard if the want to sell their product?
Will someone please give me the dimensions of these pieces? Please don't tell me to do the math. The magazine is not available, either. Thanks.
What size is the rectangle? It looks like it might be 2 1/2 inches like from a jelly roll. Frustrating not having the measurements.
Gracias está genial y facil d hacer🥰
Thanks for the pointers. I need all the help I can get.
Hi Erin, love the technique, however, I am matching my raw edges up perfectly but my star points are not lining up, any advice?
My BIGGEST DREAM is to make a queen to king size star quilt. Is there a good pattern out that I can use!
What are the measurements of the the rectangle and square? Do you just make the size up? Very strange directions
Please tell the sizes of the pieces. Thank you
Love the tutorial but I have a six point star that was give to me but is not blocked, what do you suggest on how to finish.
What an quick & easy way to make Le Moyne Star. It will also use up my scrap bag! But where are the instructions for the measurements to cut, am I missing something?

+Pat Hixon , see my comment at the top with measurements. Let me know if this helps...

Hello , what extent did you use?
I like that block but what size is your finish block , that you worked on.😊
This block is 12" x 12" finished.
McCall's Quilting
What size is square etc
figured it out. Rectangle is 3inches.
The rectangle is 3" x 6 1/2". The SMALL square is 3". LARGE square is 4". See comment with link at the top, for your FREE LeMoyne star pattern download - from McCall's Quilting magazine! Any more questions?
The set in seams don't bother me. It's getting those 8 points to meet in the middle without a belly button that stumps me.
I orderd the back issue of sept. oct .2015 and I filled out all the money and shipping and never got a confirmation on Why??? today i did this
great idea!!!!
baby quilt
Thank you helpful

Just got better
Why not give us measurements instead of selling your magazine
nice and different, but why not include the sizes instead of referring to the magazine.
It would have been useful to have the measurements . Then if it worked out, I would have order McCall's Quilting to see new easy ways to make Quilts.
U should give the sizes to attract more viewrs and subscribers
Can someone give me the measurements I would pay you for them. Thank you 😂❤
Needs measurements

Nice, but there is as much waste as there is star. With all the wasted fabric you could have made a whole other star.
I think it would have been nice instead of using a plain mat to have used a cutting mat with markings for those of us who can't afford to buy the magazines and patterns.
