The problem with building in the $400-$650 range is that buyers are demanding almost the same level of performance as the $700-$900 range because, in their minds, that GPU that scalpers were selling for three times the MSRP and the flood of crypto-mining GPU's flooding the market over the last 18 months have come way down so if those inflated prices are lower now then so should the overall price of upscale pre-built systems as well, even though those higher end components are even harder to get because of supply/demand issues. Even for the knowledgeable it's a minefield especially with laptops. I just enjoy the latest technology news, to really upgrade my PC, I don't think I need it yet, my computer is still running without complaints now, and I don't think there is any emergency need for me to upgrade my PC in the near future. I use b550 pro4 , ryzen 5600g+RTX 3060 . I'm still very comfortable using this rig even though in the past 2 years I've only added an extra SSD and ram , Apart from that, it's the same as what I've used for the last 2 years.
Interesting that you are seeing a lot of competition in the mid-range...not that many listings down here in Melbourne in that $500-800 range...yet I am still struggling like heck to sell anything in that range!
I recommend everyone who is looking to buy something like a ryzen 5500 look into a high core count xeon v3 or v4 with 30+ mb of cache instead, especially if they are not planning to upgrade their cpu anytime soon. The gaming performance will be very similar and non gaming performance will be better for a lot less money. Recently I bought a xeon 2697v3 and a compatible motherboard for my brother for 50 euros. Combining that with used ddr4 ecc ram should give him good performance at a very low price. We were not even budget limited, it just felt wrong to spend more when enough performance was available for such prices.
I got a r3 2300x and rx570 fish tank prebuilt for $200. Had a 256 ssd and 1tb drive as well and 16gb of ddr4...cheap mobo that i cant overclock the cpu but managed to push the ram from 2100 to 2700 lol. Christmas present for a family member on middle school. Better than my ancient OC fx8350 and gtx1060 i still use daily
Option 3 is me keeping my old PC for secondary use and eventually doing a final upgrade and clean before donating it. The sad thing is that it will still be faster than a cheap "gaming" PC sold by local retailers.

Alot of UE5 single player games are going to be out over the next few years and gamers are moving up to that mid-high pc for those. Not to mention Monster Hunter wilds will be out this spring just when the next gen gpus are coming out and that game is going to have a massive player base and needs a pretty go gpu to get over 60 fps without upscaling and a decnt cpu for that game is also needed.
I see a few PCs on the side. I make a little bit from them but lately I have been contacted by referrals when I have not even had a pc ready. In fact the past 3 I have sold I never even posted. I would say the easiest way to make an old mid range more modern Is buy a gpu. CPU,ram, mb, case and storage from as far back as intel 10 series or AMD zen2/3 and a 5 to 6 hundred US $ GPU turns an older system to fairly cutting edge so no need for a new PC.
Everything in America is about incoming tariffs with many things getting sold out before Jan 20, 2025. The only thing I could use is a share AM5 board to go with a no not being used Ryzen 5 7600x before that date as we talking 25% tariffs on computer hardware.

I see what you're saying about the used market here in America is beginning to take a similar track. I been noticing used mid-level and high-end PC component prices here in the States are quite a bit more elevated than they have been over the last several years. I can only attribute that to the market being saturated with slowly outdating parts, like 4th,5th and 6th gen systems and parts that support them. OEM refurbishers and sellers continue to flood the market with low-end, under-performing cheap systems trying to pass them off as something that these systems were never intended to be. I think people are holding on to their slightly dated systems longer so the used market for high end parts command much higher prices because of that. As for selling mid-range and higher end systems here in the states, shipping costs are becoming almost prohibitive for those who don't ship in bulk. Also, shipping damage is on the increase so damage claims are through the roof and shippers are extremely slow to respond to these claims. Listing fees on commercial selling sites keep going up year over year so that also effects us "one-off" sellers. The industry, itself isn't really helping the situation either by pushing products that are having issues and not dealing with them promptly. I used to build three to five systems a year and sell them and up until 2020, I was doing pretty well selling mid-range systems. Now, I've only built one AMD AM4 system this year and have no plans to build any more because the profit margin, even on a small scale like mine, just aren't there right now. Maybe when some of the older tech starts to truly age out of the market and people stop spending their money on cheap Chinese websites that are flooding the market with low-end crap, the market might recover in the near future, but I won't bet the farm on it.

The 4060 in a laptop isn't the same as the one in a desktop etc etc. Something that was already two years out of date and didn't sell the following year will still be advertised as "new". Imagine if a car dealership tried pulling that stunt.
@@vespasian606that's literally always been true of mobile hardware going back 20 years. You'd have to be ignorant of the laws of physics to think you're getting the exact same product in mobile form.
@vespasian606 i mean sales will bend any way they can right one person's new is unused while someone else's is latest hardware/software. But yea I agree and now you can't even look at cores the same with e cores and p cores
@Wobbothe3rd most people are technically ignorant that's why rgb sells more than spec. I can guarantee you if I made 2 systems one with newer hardware and no rgb and one with older hardware but rgb the gb will sell faster I did an experiment several times
The more you wait the more you save. If you need a new pc, buy. Selling 🎄 should be the season. Buyers do have the new GPUs coming around next year but stock is variable, people who have a working setup can gamble more with if some AI boom hits or not. My brain still wonders if there is any chance we'll have another gpu shortage like 2019-2020.
In the US tax return season is also a good time to sell a entry level pc
I got those fans because they were cheaper than other offerings and I saw them used in a build on youtube. Great airflow, I dont even bother with RGB as it isnt my thing but 9 of these for $63 aussie delivered and my $50 used Lian li Debaur case is great gaming value!
Interesting that you are seeing a lot of competition in the mid-range...not that many listings down here in Melbourne in that $500-800 range...yet I am still struggling like heck to sell anything in that range!
oh that's interesting, yeah up here everyone selling a 3060 ti rig lol
Im parting everything out. Its better doing that right now.
Good point on e-bikes in relation other discretionary spending. Even I've been looking at e-bikes to displace my Cannondale 29 lefty. Guess I'm getting lazy at 65. So were in the same PC market assessment grove, you caught up. mb
Great info bryan!
I had someone message and say "you built a pc for my friend and they are very happy with it, can you build one for me (or my wife, or nephew, etc ). I actually started buying some parts from Aliexpress. A little a time to see the quality. The problem with that is that I have to have bunch of parts laying around until I need them.
Its been the worst year ever for selling a PC I sold one! Been totally dead all year. I am even selling under cost to get some money to maybe build a new system. All I get when I post or re-post a computer are Scammers...
Wow that’s crazy. I sold PCs for 2022, 2023 and now 2024 and this has been the best year by far for me. Made a profit of more than 200€ per computer most of the time and only in November I sold 7 PCs locally. Though I bought my PCs mostly complete and just needed Graphics Cards, SSDs or more RAM..
I just sucessfully flipped my first used gaming pc for +80€ (i know not that much) but i didnt think it would work at all so thats a win in my book. But 1 thing i was thinking about was that currently many new CPUs and GPUs will be realeased so maybe wait a bit till ill try to sell my next pc
midrange will be highend in the next month ^^ so i wait for the release and then for summer here in germany
I forget that you have SUMMER in Australia its so funny. (People dont get cozy and want to game on Black Friday till Christmas)
Here in Austria its very hard to sell the midrange. I target 800-900€ and my stock is sitting. I hope for last minute Christmas shoppers.
Everything in America is about incoming tariffs with many things getting sold out before Jan 20, 2025.
The only thing I could use is a share AM5 board to go with a no not being used Ryzen 5 7600x before that date as we talking 25% tariffs on computer hardware.
That was hilarious XD maybe you can tell us the prices in different places XD
I bought a 7800x3d for £230 from aliexpress and still using my 3060ti, do plan to upgrade next year jan-march time for 1440p gaming
My rx 5700 xt started artifacting couple months ago, so I'm just looking to get something like a 3060 ti this month... And maybe repair the old GPU and sell it to recoup some cash
I just think everyone in the midrange is waiting for the RX 8800XT to bring value back to the midrange - it's supposed to bring roughly 4070 ti Super performance at around $500. On the CPU side, everyone is going for the 9800X3D now because of possible tariffs coming next year.
Welp market kinda fast here in turkey still not close to last year but way better than 2-3 months earlier lowkey its suprising. Nearly all the time when something happening there also happens here like 1070 1660 hikes or fast-slow market periods
Because of its price still being so high, I'm actually considering selling my 4090, but I'm terrified of not being able to snag a 5090 on release. Plus, I have a custom loop so removing and adding hardware is not so straightforward.
I think the 5090 will defo be Sold out.
In my area mid range is dead but anything under 500 seems to move haven’t gotten to high end just yet
If you just want to game, you don't need high end, a new r5 7600 paired with a rx7600 or rtx4060 is enough, just lower your settings and play 1080p.
I'm incredibly happy with my Ryzen 9 5900x and 3060Ti
Why are you gluing the front to that pc? Would they not want to be able to remove it to clean the pc?
Ive just said screw it im just going to hold on to my collection.
Christmas is here friends! SELL SELL SELL
I´m bullish on Alemio and their ALM token, presale at its finest, don´t miss
as an american with a lot of hispanic clients and no spanish literacy, I relate to the mexican skit.
Curious what you think about the likely flood of OEM systems due to non-Windows-11 compatible systems getting sold off by businesses as Windows 10 support ends. I think that a lot of 6th/7th gen intel powered OEM systems lack TPM 2.0 so that will be a big boom to budget-banger office PC builds. Time to stock up on PSU adapters, spray paint, and vinyl? lol
I few days ago I almost bought a 4090 on FB Marketplace for $1600. Then I changed my mind and told the seller Im going to wait for the 5080 and 5090. I just checked back and it appears he still has it up for sell for $1700. The seller is going to have a hard time selling that card with the 50s so close unless he come down on the price.
Grayscale will push Alemio Network to unimaginable hights after the launch. You want to have ALM tokens in your portfolio, believe me.
My greedy brain wants to sell my pc and buy a new one so bad but idk how you can do it right
I just picked up a CLX build. From a pawn shop I know nothing about that brand but it has a ryzen 5 5500 32gig kit 4060 1Tb m.2 and a 1tb HDD lol 300 bucks flat
Temu sells those prism fans for around $5US.
I think I'll just wait for the release of the Nvidia desktop CPUs in September 2025. An all Nvidia system would be pretty awesome.
Got bored of waiting for 9950X3D, snagged a 7950X3D on sale for same if not better price / performance anyway
Surprised you were late to the "Prism fan" party, Brian!
What are your thoughts on the NZXT PC rental scam?
They want your data more than the pc. 🤣🤣
Gamers who have a nvidia 1000-2000 card have no incentive to buy new pc.
Unless you want to spend 1500 euros for a 1440p system. No moneyz.
The people who upgrade to 500 dollars pc have gtx 970-1050 4gb.
Exactly. High-end gaming PCs from the past 4 years or so, which many people bought during the lockdowns, are still "good enough" to play almost all but the latest fancy games, if you're willing to lower settings or use frame gen (if possible). Computers in general are massively over-powered for normies, it's only really the enthusiast crowd who are willing to throw serious money at it these days
@@peterwstacey Exactly, we appear to have reached the point where last gen is easily good enough, as long as you are not playing at 4k ultra etc.
No, it depends on the card. You can do a lot better than a 3060 or even a 2080 with a new rtx4070ti or better.
@@Wobbothe3rd You literally said what i wrote, people dont want to spend 1500 euros for a 4070 ti pc just for 1440p
With 4k upscaling the entry/midrange is excellent value. 👍
At 3:58 my pc listing is shown there for $950
Awesome, did it sell?
It will on Saturday
after Christmas prices will drop
Baked Beans on Toast aka Skinheads on a raft with cheese is the breakfast of champions.
The used market in the US on ebay and new egg isn't that great. I had a feeling that Nvidia would over produce and prices would drop, especially once China was hit with gpu sanctions in the us, so I have been waiting. I can see maybe February- March 2025 as being when prices really drop. Holiday debt spending at ath and a slow beginning of the year job market will slow consumer luxury item spending. Personally my purchases have been minimal. A used high core count cpu here and there and if I see a good deal on a gpu, like the rx 470 8gb I just got, I will jump on the deal. But only because the seller was basically giving it away at $40 usd w/ free shipping. Storage prices imo have gone up from the beginning of the 2024 year since everyone seems to be building a Home lab RN these days... First of the year for gpu's imo. Where's Tech Yes dad been hiding? Later Brian
Do you sell used GPUs, if so where can I buy?
Alemio cross chain AI combo is what sets it apart for me. Time to join the presale ASAP.
Begone crypto bro, and leave your GPUs behind!
We need the pc flipping challenge!!!!
I have not been able to shift 2 systems one low end and one higher at prices i will be losing money been like this for 6 months
Here in U.S and Canada, people are panic buying now due to trump's tariff starting in Jan. I bought the last stock of MSI B650-S wifi to upgrade to AM5. Nvidia RTX 5000 series isn't worth waiting, it's extremely high price and 46% tariff increase on top.
Bueno time’o to buy’oh el pc’o?
Low mid range yes, high end no
Hey Brian,
You think our AUD will go up thus bringing the price of white goods and electronics down??? We're currently trading USD$0.64c
Maybe we could swap a mid-range PC for a case of baked beans!
Maybe the baked beans make a great cooling system!
The Ebikes thing is the pretend make money about things like doordash uber eats or whatever it is in Australia cause young people dont like work alternatives
Hey, NZXT has a special rental program. I hear it's really good.
Kekw
I just upgraded from 5800x and 3070ti to 7950x3d and 4080 super. Then i also bought the 9800x3d ugh. What am i doing 😂
Seeing as there's a shortage of x3d and x670e x870e
Trends, Sales are down, High end sales are the bulk of the sales.
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer sum that up?
09:47 Never in my timeline that we will be worrying about people touching grass...
I'm going to repeat my comment on your Feb 2024 video where you said you've never seen the Market so bad - "Per capita Depression" CAN🤝AUS
Gaming will never end, dudes at home still want to game, just less time on such. Release the next big game and they will come back. v
Just bought a rtx 4070 for 235$ usd on eBay,cant wait to get it i have a gtx 970! Priceless content! Bitcoin will destroy all of your models! gtfo the matrix! stay up kings 💪👑💰✈
I don't sell my old PC's, I repurpose or give them away. I have an old Asus X570E with 5800X3D and 4070 with open loop water cooling that is collecting dust. No one in my family wants to deal with the maintenance, so I'll find another use for it.
Happy to assist you, if you want to send it to me.
@@Skobeloff... Only family or friends. I don't ship water cooled PC's.
@@molly_mallard That's okay, you can keep the water cooled silliness, I was trying to help you with the rest of it, since you see it as "old".
@@Skobeloff... 1) it is old, and 2) water cooling is certainly not silly. My water cooled 4090 never reaches more than 50c after hours of intense gaming. 3) why would I send a complete stranger ( a sarcastic one at that ) a PC?
@@molly_mallard I am glad that you are able to understand the concept of sarcasm, although perhaps you should consider that maybe my initial comment was entirely sarcastic? Why would I expect you to send me a pc?
1) It is not old, you are just a gullible consumerist, and a poser.
2) Water cooling is definitely silly for a 5800X3D, with a 4070.
3) Already covered.
4) "No one in my family wants to deal with the maintenance" = Your family does not want to deal with you being high maintenance.
I am not sure if your barbie games can really be classed as "intense gaming", but everything is relative I guess. No doubt you have a special gaming chair with rgb to make the struggle a little easier.
It's simple, if you want to play now, then buy. If you want to wait, then wait.
I always say w8 2 more years
hi bryan,
i have a gaming pc question for u as a seller hopefully u can make in to pt2 to this vid.
when it comes to selling pc specially office ones that has been converted to gaming pc, would u say keyboard, mouse, mousepad, headset, display cabling along the case plays a massive role in this attraction to kids and gamers on entry level gaming?
if so do u have any good recommendations on keyboard, mouse and other peripherals thats works well that u used whether its kmart, big w, target, jb hi fi, jaycar etc..... for budget i have old gear that works i want get rid of in one of my listings that i included in my photos and its a complete setup and i have listed on fb marketplace and gumtree on the australian market.
its getting only view but no enquiries on it, i could use your advice on this through a pt2 to this vid for people who are getting back in to the pcs and new to the concept thanks.
part 2 should contain the best components that is best and what is needed that sellers want to include in the package sale and talk about the best places to sell are.
one more quick question y do u and gear seekers nick always refer to the usd prices to comparison and not always include the aud price so we know what we need pay?
yeah dont even bother trying to sell a pc when new parts are soon to be released.
Buy your PC before WW3
Maybe it's time to branch out, flipping baked beans instead of PCs?
Now is probably the best time to ape in ICOs like Alemio Network, before real alt run begins!
Oh, I thought you said "prison-style case"
Economy might be Emo, but not Brian 😅
Buy now, next year is NOT going to be the year to buy a gaming PC or any type of PC. :(
If i had money id buy anytime bruh
Buy it now... Or Tariffs will bycicle kick you in the teeth.
with the tariffs coming from the united states, prices will go up like crazy.
Will see.
@@firexallst4rz277 How will the dodgy US tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico affect us? I doubt we get much from the latter 2. I guess the point is that Chinese companies will increase prices to other nations to offset the (theoretical) reduced sales to the US? The tariffs will not be the only thing affecting world economies/consumerism once the inbred orange returns to the throne.
Neither. I only wanna buy Tech YES Loved PCs drowning in multipurpose spray using scrapyard parts!
the time is now... rent baked beans and buy PCs
👍👍👍👍
.
I'm not Australian but I know that you have one of the worst housing crisis in the world. So if you pay 60% of you income to rent then where do you have a money to buy a PC? People just don't have a money, that's easy it is.
And still the good stuff/hardware is instantly sold out! It's so freaking hard to get 9800x3d 7800x3D and Asrock 870x mobo it's just ridiculous at the moment. 😂
Japan isn't much better .. Facebook is junk (it's always was in Japan) even the low end won't shift and baked beans are pricey here .. need to switch to ramen - Too many tire kickers
Tech yes is all about 4th gen 4790s and Chinese websites Like Ali Express brother
