    Its time for another summer prune of a free standing Wisteria tree - we have been doing this for a few years now and the Tree seems to be responding really well; with a good show of flowers in spring and some more blooms appearing for a second flush in summer.
    In this video we can see some of the short 'stumpy' growth which produces flower buds close up, as Roger trims some of the old flowers off to reveal more flower buds for next year.
    Then Roger attacks the long fresh green shoots which have grown really long during our wet summer - they look untidy and are less likely to produce flowers ... so we cut them right back to about 5 leaf shoots which means a flimsy green stem over 2 yards longs is cut back to a firm green shoot of about 30 - 45 cms long.

    Took your advice from the last wisteria video Roger. Looked like it was in a coma but in the past 2 months has revitalised and has put on loads of growth. No flowers but glad it has survived.❤
