Your reviews and info about using all these products are extremely helpful. I’ve only had my ileostomy Two weeks today so this is all new to me. I started watching your videos about a month ago so i would know what to expect after my surgery. Awesome job. Thanks
Always enjoy your videos. I'm five months into my ostomy and was released from hospital with little information and no return demonstration. Your videos gave me confidence, empowerment, and the realization that ostomies are a good thing. My question is can you do a video of the vertical stealth belt. Thank you for all you're doing. You just don't know! Don't ever stop.
Thanks for your kind words, Yvette. I would love to do a video on the vertical stralthbelt if I could get my hands on one. My insurance won't cover it and it's a little too expensive to buy for a review. I will keep it on my to do list, however 👍
Great review, Eric, as usual!!! I just got one of these comfort belts least week and love it, especially for summer outdoor activities, most importantly swimming in either a pool or lake/ocean. Keep up the great work!! Can't wait for your next video!! HUGS!!!!
oh cool love the look of the support belt love the way it conceals it all. I think it would give people more confidence and even not be embarrassed in showing the belt of also love the way it has the zip at the bottom for access for emptying. can you still do a full change wearing it? Great video Eric take care and see you in your next review.
I like what I've read and seen about the belt. One question, when you pass gas and fill the bag w/air, how can the belt flatten that out w/o bursting it. That's just physics. I'm a scuba diver and have to compensate for the air that will accumulate while diving.
dear Eric got my ostomy in early may felt very low and alone came across your videos great information you really cheer me up quite a lot kind regards Patrick from lreland😊😊😊
Eric we went to the Home health store today and pick up our supplies For the month and they gave us something called liquid skin prep in protectant we have it in the spray form and in the wipes exactly how do I use this
A few options at least: Suspenders instead of a belt. Pants with a stretchy waistband. A stoma guard. My preference with a suit is to wear my bag horizontally with something like a StealthBelt holding it in place. This allows me to wear suits without any modification. 👍
Eric, I love your channel. I am 2 months into my colostomy for colon cancer. I unfortunately wasn’t seen by a site nurse and my stoma is flush to my skin and located very low. About 4” below my belly button, will this product work for me?
Hi there. Is your stoma below your pant belt line? If so, I'm not sure how well this belt would work, since it may feel uncomfortable under your pants. If it's above your belt line, how much higher does it sit? I personally find that accessories that are overlapped by pant waist lines tend to be more trouble than they are worse, but there are other options.
@@VeganOstomy , my stoma is below the pant waist line. Right now my biggest problem is my bag hangs down past my leg crease. When I sit the bag folds almost in half. I tried the petite bags with limited success. I am on chemo which causes diarrhea and really need to use the longer bag. I was hoping to find a way to wear it horizontally. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
Are you working with a stoma nurse who can assess your appliance and fit you for an accessory to help keep it supported? I can understand how that creasing can be problematic. You might be able to still wear the appliance horizontal or even diagonal, but it would be impossible to know unless you were assesser, measured, and fitted for something. I'd also suggest getting in touch with the people at StealthBelt as I'm sure they'll be able to give feedback on what product would work best for you 👍
@@VeganOstomy I have a wound care nurse who visits me. He has been very helpful with choosing products but doesn’t have much knowledge on anything besides the strap style belts
Thank you very much for the explanation. Very informative. I am getting ready to take care of my mom, who had an operation not long time ago. I would like to ask you or anybody in the community if there is a way to control the output, I know that the biggest challenge is emptying the bag in the middle of the night. There must be some trick to empty is as late as possible and than early in the morning, so the person has somewhat good night sleep so needed for recuperation.
Nighttime can be a challenge, especially with a new ostomy because the body needs some time to adjust. Some people rely on eating smaller meals (especially smaller during and after dinner), and others might take something to slow down output like imodium. This can also depend on the ostomy type. Does she have an ileostomy, urostomy, or colostomy?
@@VeganOstomy Thank you very much for a quick respond. Unfortunately I don't know which on , definitely not urostomy. Will taking Imodium cause "constipation" What do you thing about gelling sachets???
I'd ask her doctor if imodium is appropriate as it may cause side effects for some people. Gelling sachets are something I use and recommend to many people who have liquid or loose ostomy output. 😀
Thanks you and when it fill up does it show it's bulky under the shirt. I hesitate between stomaplex and comfortbelt. I want as much possible discret when it fills up. Does stomaplex pinch the bag and or block the stool from going down the bag when sitting. ???I guess comfortbelt is more comfortabel. Thank you so much Eric you where a great inspiration when i was about to get my surgery. I love you positive Energy. thanks
=) The Stomaplex (which I haven't used) is a stoma guard, while the Comfortbelt is a support band - they serve two different functions. I find that stoma guards tend to limit the capacity of my bag, so not only do I need to empty more often when using it, but it means more output is collecting in a smaller space. While the ComfortBelt does help to conceal things, you shouldn't let your bag fill up too much while wearing it or else it will be noticeable. But I find that a "full" bag horizontally is far less noticeable than a full bag hanging down, and I find it easier to manage under clothing when it's horizontal. I hope that helps ;)
I'm from the UK and would love one of these to give me more confidence etc. I just can't afford it and asked the NHS if I could get it for free but they said no ( maybe it'll be cheaper in the future but most my money goes into my son's care he has autism and needs a lot of attention. Life's a test I suppose. Nice videos by the way. Keep it up :)
This was a great review. How do you think this would work with a stoma that is located higher on the torso? My stoma is right below my rib cage. Ostomy wraps ride up from the bottom and fall down from the top pulling down on the appliance.
+Rebecca Cauldwell I see no reason for this belt not to work in your case. It stays in place, and I really don't have to adjust it the way I often do with wraps. I can only see this being a challenge if your stoma is really low, or your belt line goes over it.

Thanks for your reply. I sent the message to the wrong video lol. in one of your videos your were showing stoma guards you can were. In that one you wore one with the flesh colored stoma guard with a black belt. that’s the stoma guard i would like to find.
It might be the stomashield. Have a look at all the reviews I've done on stoma guards and see if one looks familiar: www.veganostomy.ca/product-reviews/#Stoma_Guards
Yes, you can, but keep in mind that hernias are no joke and you should get the clearance from your surgeon before hitting the gym. If your surgeon or stoma nurse has any concerns about hernias then you should get a proper hernia belt - at least for the workouts.
Hi Kevin, I've been wearing the vertical StealthBelt lately, but mostly because I've been wearing my bag vertically over the last little while. But when I'm wearing my bag horizontally my preference is still the StealthBelt Pro.
I bought a belt, can't remember from where. Unfortunately, it moves around and rides up. It's not made of thick enough fabric. I'm glad that you are giving this review. I have an unrelated question for anyone who knows. Does anyone get bubbles in their bag, like bubble wrap bubbles? I get them in almost every bag. I asked Megan TFBYT, she thought it might be a defective box of bags. I am way done with at box, it happens with almost every bag, from every box. Sorry to go off topic, I just thought maybe someone would know. Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening! 🎶✌️❤️✌🎶
I've actually felt little air bubbles that seemed to be IN the plastic - it was so bizarre and only happened a few times, but if it's consistent then you may want to ask the manufacturer about it.
this product so far I've seen is the first I would feel comfortable with my shirt off in the same room with my lover. Four months 4 an i still trying to get comfortable I would like to see myself in a beach body
Question how do you have thick stool since you are vegetarian. I totally have watery out put from vegetables. Also wearing side ways doesn't it erode the barrier protection faster. And also does the stealth bad add extra weight behind your clothes which would make the ostomy more obvious?
Hi, Selina. I eat quite a bit of starchy foods (potatoes, rice, pasta), and also things like chickpeas and kidney beans. These thicken my output quite a bit. Certain fruits and veg will loosen my output, too. Have you considered using a gelling sachet in your bag? That'll thicken things up without you changing what you eat. These support belts flatten the bag, so the final effect is usually a lower profile. The belt itself doesn't really make it more obvious at all.
+bboyd97 You can empty the bag normally if it's a "large" bag (typically 12" long). Small bags would likely be awkward. Two piece systems can be rotated, but I've used one piece bags without any trouble - and they gives a lower profile.
