the 3rd movement of this amazing symphony is the most underrated in all classical music, it's the most fascinating peace's of music ever written, a stunning profomence, by a magnificent orchestra.
I. Andante sostenuto - Moderato con anima 0:17 II. Andantino in modo di Canzone 18:50 III. Scherzo: Pizzicato ostinato - Allegro 28:46 IV. Finale: Allegro con fuoco 34:31
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very fine playing by this student orchestra. Hugh Wolff can take credit for this exciting performance of a great symphony. He has led many orchestras around the world. If you have very good speakers, the sound is brilliant. It does take a good orchestra to take the final movement at this tempo. The balance of the recorded sound is just right. Bravo to all.
Very very very good interpretation and very well done by the orchestra, These are all very impressive and talented young musicians. I have to say that I am particularly impressed with the principal flutist. Exceptional clarity of sound and technique
A Tchaikovsky le encantaba mezclar música potente y vibrante con melodias suaves y con finales brillantes. Genial. La orquesta y su director están a la altura debida, a pesar de la juventud de algunos componentes. Me Gusta.
Amazing sound from the strings, the oboe, and the horns. It's an excellent rendition of this piece by the orchestra under Hugh Wolff. A very pleasant surprise. Wonder what happened at 0:51 though.
Can't sleep because I just listened to the audio of this piece and then decided to watch a performance of it. Saxophone/clarinet player very new to the orchestra world.
We performed Patrick Marber's the Musicians about a year ago, and the whole plot revolves around the second movement of this symphony... Which is why I start reciting the script and pretending to play the cello every time I hear the second movement XD love this piece so much cuz of that one play :')
Really awesome. To take the Finale at that tempo is really first rate. I've always thought it sounds very difficult to slot that flute counter-melody in at 38:43, but it's really clearly played and well done here. And the cymbals at the end, what fun. :) Very impressive and enjoyable all around.
the best thing about this recording is that its not all fff in the first movement. in most professional recordings the brass just blast at the same volume the entire time. its really boring that way and becomes white noise. in this recording there is a lot of dynamic variation making it more entertaining.
Very good performance. My top reference is Evgeny Mravinsky with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra. This symphony in F is very difficult because if you don't play very fine you will be ridiculous. I don't know the conductor and the orchestra but the performance is very impressive ! Congratulations
Truly one of the great symphonies. I was watching this performance and could imagine how Beethoven would have received it. I believe he would have smiled, as I did.
Indeed. Although Brahms always gets the label of successor to Beethoven, surely in symphonic style (excitement, instrumental colours) surely it's Tchaikovsky.
I thoroughly enjoyed this performance by this young orchestra. The conductor would have done better to beat the Finale in 4 as opposed to 2 but that's a technical quibble. Bravo to all concerned! (I am available to conduct this piece should anyone like to get in touch with me!)
Extraordinary how student or otherwise young non professional performers often show far more passion and excitement in their performances as opposed to staid, precise, and boring performances by well know "professional" performers. This is a glorious second-to-none rendition of Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony, one which has had more dull, awful, and boring interpretations than many other symphonies.
I love how they sound but I can tell that the orchestra needs social interaction. You can tell when an orchestra and their members actually do know each other
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BOW FOR THE FLUTIST !!!! That ruined it all for me... the conductor is a ZIT !!! With or without, the winds played spotlessly, as did the orchestra. The conductor is only a token for the audience... ZIT !
Then, sorry, you don't actually understand that sentence, or "logic", or "implication" This is a logical inference from your first comment: The NEC has excluded black or latino students even though they are equally qualified. (In my view, you were indeed making an groundless accusation.)
+shelley jones That's great, but the violins are cueing each other, so as much as they probably care what someone on the internet is commenting, it's more important for them to be together.
This is quite weak. It lacks force and energy. No musicality. The sound is immature and lacks sophistication and refinement. Not an authentic interpretation. Sleazy, slow conductor that’s trying to turn this into a sad Brahms lullaby. Mainly the conductor’s fault. I’d listen to Karajan, Bernstein, even Haitink. The conductor must be given the boot. Those are talented musicians, among the best. I expect a better conductor and musicians from such institute.
I think this is the best symphony of Tchaikkovsky!!! A master piece!!! I love French horns!!!

Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 makes me weep.
GRB201110119 Same, especially the second movement
The conclusion of the first movement--from 17:20 and climaxing with the passionate swell beginning at 18:07 gives me goosebumps every time.
Do these kidz know how awesome they are?!?!?!

This is beautiful
The dynamics are amazing

Piccolo solo at 31:04! I don't play piccolo, but it was what I was searching for.
Amazing ending to an amazing piece of music!

Just come upon this dynamic performance....most enjoyable. Thankyou.
OH..MY....Gosh... INCREDIBLE~!!!!!!!!!!

Props to the dude on the triangle.
French Horns are very tight and play well together. Well done.
20:18 is the best part of the whole thing.
oh, god no.
@@ACastillo2020 oh god yes
Go NEC!!!!!!
That timpani-cam, though.
It's probably the best thing for me as I need to see the specifics of the professional recordings for when I play this with the Youth Orchestra.
34:45 Can't believe Apashe and INSTASAMKA used this tune in their song Uebok Gotta Run.
The New England Conservatory Philharmonia? Perfeito!
Bravo, a very promising group of young musicians! Thank you very much indeed. Wish you a very good new year.

An incredible performance! They are as good as any professional orchestra I've performed with!
I just love the 2dn movement, is the most beautiful music i´v ever heard!!!
Truly one of the great symphonies. I was watching this performance and could imagine how Beethoven would have received it. I believe he would have smiled, as I did.

27:22 = Bassoon Solo! Love this Instrument!
Thanks it was fantastic , l enjoed a lot listening to this orchestra !

+ComposerInUK in the beginning at least, I did not watch the entire mvt., the Finale is in 4!
+gimaru1 Yes, but the conductor beat it in 2. (2+2). It's a very fine technical point... :)
I've noticed something about student musicians compared to professional ones, they tend to move their body a lot more when performing.
One day someone is going to do a thesis on flouncing.
I think its because of their youth, they tend to have a lot more energy
That's so their parents and friends can pick them out in the crowd.
Aha, I'm 34 and still move my body to music. You get it in your soul and can't help to be moved by it.
Professionals feel that ratio of Pi or Fibonacci Code when the play
well done that group !! that's the way it should be played
GREAT CAMERA WORK IN THIS...
That finale tho \m/

WUNDERBAR!!
Quite an impressive interpretation.
Bro, the dude on the symbols must've had his hands modified in order to do that ending
Gaunitz and Rizzo nailed it!
Браво!!!! Молодцы!!!!
They are all masters of pizzicato
37:40
35:23
brass sound good!!
3:38 cello excerpt
oboistin ist sehr gut ~
The strings seem to overwhelm the brass in the mix. Otherwise a fine performance.
37:53 the beat drop
I love it so much
pink floyd wish you were here
All of this is because of GEORGE WHITEFIELD CHADWICK ... You should listen to some of his music....
2:48 ?
42:12-42:16 sounds very off.
I love how they sound but I can tell that the orchestra needs social interaction. You can tell when an orchestra and their members actually do know each other
However, it's incredible how they play together. I've heard professional orchestras that don't come close to the level of this performance. CONGRATS!!

The blonde flautist is so pretty
Main opening statement is played by the horns and they show the bassons.Pathetic camera work.
agreed. The horns are the stars of this symphony
Что за лажа!
0:33 FAIL!
I think it's supposed to be like that...
slide at 7:40 is tacky garbage. shame on you hugh wolff
Why is there no black or latino students? Where's the diversity?
I think the music conservatory should admit students based solely on their artistic and technical competence, not their skin color.
napper6162 Are you saying black and latino students are inferior to other races in terms of artistic and technical competence?
My reply contains only one sentence in English. It's simple and clear. Do you have trouble understanding that sentence?
napper6162 Nope, but since I see almost no blacks or latino in the orchestra, that's the logical implication of what you are saying.
Then, sorry, you don't actually understand that sentence, or "logic", or "implication"
This is a logical inference from your first comment: The NEC has excluded black or latino students even though they are equally qualified. (In my view, you were indeed making an groundless accusation.)
I don't like all the movement in the first violins. Just play the piece. It's very distracting. Otherwise, great performance.
+shelley jones That's great, but the violins are cueing each other, so as much as they probably care what someone on the internet is commenting, it's more important for them to be together.
floppy wrists yield floppy reading.......too beta-. The kids needed way more FIRE from Wolff, but those floppy whatevers....
