@@olachaves I agree to some extent with you. His interpretation is not my favorite, but he plays with balls to the walls, and has time and room to grow. He has talent and skill, and may some day be in a top orchestra in the world. His work with Zander resulted in much improvement in his style for this. BTW, Reinhold Friedrich is my personal favorite interpreter of Mahler 5. And the NEC orch plays well above what you might expect from a “college” orch.
@@tubamirum007 true. He is an amazing trumpet player and he will grow for sure. I personally don’t like the way that American trumpet player play Mahler. But maybe it’s a matter of taste
These folks understand Mahler - even though they're so young! What a group! Maestro Wolft has shared a treasure. Mahler's thoughts are so clear in the third. I just love how this group sounds so fresh and young! Bravo
A great symphony that was ignored seventy years ago. Who would have thought that a Mahler symphony would be so well played by a student orchestra? Not too long ago Mahler was thought to be a poison to orchestras and audiences. Now, audiences and musicians are eager to hear one hour plus compositions. The New England Philharmonica plays this as if they own it. Hugh Wolff deserves the credit for this performance. We all see a great future for the first trumpet(Elmer Churampi). The orchestra deserves a great recording of this event, and they get it. Brilliant sound and balance. Bravo to all!
Calling the NEC Philharmonia a student orchestra is a bit misleading. These aren't amateurs ( in the sense of people who just play for fun) that study all sort of different things at their University and then just happen to play in an Orchestra in their extra time. These are all students who study the instruments they play here and who aim for a professional career.
The playing of Mahler 5 by the young Orchestra is beautiful enough to remind me of the famous recording of the piece by Rudolf Barshai/Junge Deutsche Philharmonie.
I think a good symphony is one that you can whistle, such as Beethoven's symphonies. Maller's symphonies are a cluster of beautiful sounds but you can't whistle.
Bravo orchestra. Elmer on first trumpet was outstanding.
I don't agree but ok

Exactly my friend
Mahler is now becoming recognized as one of the greatest composer of symphonies of all time!!!!!
Amazing trumpet playing by Elmer Churampi!
+Iverson Eliopoulos I've been listening to his stuff on youtube. He's going to win a big audition, sooner than later.

SUPERB
Excelente ejecución, lo único que no está bien en el vídeo es el manejo de las cámaras.

if you try really hard you can
LMFAO WHAT
Elmer
I'm a descendent of Gustav Mahler!
Oh yea? Did you smell his ass?
MONGO LOID well to do so i would've had to have been born 150+ years ago, so no.
Would you have done it 150 years ago?

The cymbal crash at 23:42 is a half note early.
Actually not just a half note. An entire bar. It should have come at 23:44.
Yup. 23:42 - 23:44 makes up a half note's worth of time. Either way I'm sure no one noticed. The conductor didn't seem to care.
