Yesterday my 13 year old son encountered a Karen in the wild. Was coming home from school on his bike and at the very steep hill gets off to walk it. (He was coming home with a full bag and his trumpet and it really is a super steep hill.) Passes a lady on the sidewalk who starts yelling at him that he's lazy and kids his age don't know how to work. He says, "Excuse me?!?" She continues her rant and he says, "Okay boomer." Sets her off completely and she starts going off on how her hard earned tax dollars paid for his schooling blah blah. He responds, "My tax dollars will pay for your old folks home." BAM!!! I love my kid.

Wait she told him, a 13 year old boy, that he's lazy and doesn't know how to work? Well duh he's 13 karen.....haha. Also how does she know that he isn't homeschooled or goes to a private school and his parents actually pay for his education 🤔 people really need to mind their own business sometimes

I don't really understand why she called him lazy to begin with. If it's because he was walking, duh, no kid rides a bike up a steep hill (love to ride down them, though, and many of us older people have long-term scars to prove it).

I managed a garage for 9 years. One day 2 men came in to inquire about a job and literally said "hey hun, where's your boss man at?" then before i could respond, they saw my male service manager, walked right passed me and asked him. Without missing a beat, he smiled and said "well the shop manager aka boss man would be "hun" down there. I don't think you 2 made a great first impression".
I actually needed two mechanics but as I told them, they had already demonstrated an inability to take instruction from a woman and an inability to treat our female guests with respect. It's my job to make automotive service as relaxed and stress free as possible and having a mechanic condescend to them is not part of the experience. The fact that they were looking for a job with that attitude made me wonder how they speak when they're not putting their best foot forward. Most men and women really embraced the idea and husband's felt more comfortable with their wife coming to my shop knowing that I wouldn't try to talk over her head or sell something she didn't need. I also had an awesome female disel tech. In 9 years I met fewer than 10 customers with this misogynistic attitude. Serving 40 guests a day 359 days a year, I think that ratio is a very positive reflection of society's progress.

I know this post is a year old, but I love it so much! When I was 19 (mid 90s), I bought my grandma's 1987 Chevy cavalier wagon. I took it to 5 different shops to get a quote on a new timing belt (grandma told me it had never been done). Every Single Shop told m, "You have a special timing belt. It needs to be changed and will cost around $500." Which was insane since it should've been $70 max back then. They hadn't even looked at my engine. Just said they have to be replaced every whatever miles. I went to my cousin who had a honda shop. He looked it up. I didn't even have a timing belt, I had a chain. I was so pissed off. I went to an auto parts store, got a manual and did all the work myself from that day on. ALL of it 😊 I would have loved to find a shop like yours back then. Every one of those guys would've tightened the chain and charged me $500. I made sure my daughter could do basic car stuff too and I was really proud of myself. I even made some extra cash as a single mom going to college by showing other women how to do basic maintenance and emergency stuff. Now I have a subaru, and I'm changing my own front axles on Saturday ❤ thank you for all you've done. We appreciate you

Once upon a time I greeted next customer in line and invited him to my desk, but he politely refused. He wanted to wait until my (male) coworker was done with his current customer and speak to him. I didn't strike me as weird at first - a lot of customers tend to return to the same sales person. But my colleague was very confused, he didn't recognize this customer, so he informed him, that he will be busy for a while and maybe he should talk to me instead. "No, no, it's okay, I'd rather talk to you, I''ll wait". So this dude waited for almost an hour and proceeded asking technical questions that my coworker didn't understand, nevermind answering them. As I said, he just started, he was still learning, he never worked in anything with tech before. I on the other hand worked there for a couple of years, specialised in difficult cases even, so I had to step in and answer all of those questions. I'll never forget the befuddlement on this 30+ dudes face as I explained everything and he had all the answers he needed in under a minute. He kinda did that to himself, hope he learned his lesson.

When I was in high school I took automotive. I was okay at it. I can change/replace most parts and I'm pretty good with tires/brakes stuff like that. Never good at engines or transmissions. I was the first female in seven years that took auto at that school.
The teacher kept pressing that I go to a university or college that specialized in mechanics. It was always weird and seemed kinda pushy. I never understood why he thought I wanted that as a career.
Later I learned that if he referred people to the school he'd get an incentive. Apparently it was higher if it was a female. Even higher since I was Native American. Made me feel like a novelty. Not a fan. Glad I didn't know it at the time.
I just wanted to learn more so I could fix my own problems and because it was fun. My dad taught me a lot, but he took good care of our vehicles and didn't have much to work on together.

I worked in a call centre at one stage and an angry male customer called demanding to speak to a male. We couldn’t just put him through to a male, all we could do was put him back in the queue. It was in late in the evening so we had less staff on and we were pretty busy so he had to wait on hold about 15 minutes when he was put back in the queue. Unfortunately, there were no males in the call centre at the time. So he just kept going through the women working, none of us told him there were no men on and he had to wait in the queue 15 minutes each time. Eventually he asked for a manager. Who was also a women. He hung up at that point.

That woman demanding a male service rep for the car place just kills me. My niece went to welding and mechanic school and is currently the manager of the parts department at auto zone. She has 6 vehicles of her own. She buys old junky cars at a super low price and fixes them up, details them and paints them all by herself and then sells them to collectors for 3-4 times what she put into them. She is 20 and she just bought her first house. I’m nearly 40 and still live in an apartment. Women can do any job that doesn’t require sperm or a penis (not sure what would require that) and a lot of times they are better at things because women are naturally more detail oriented. I worked for a mechanic, as a front desk clerk, in my late teens and I learned a ton of stuff I still use to this day. I can and do take care of my vehicle better than my husband does. I drive a, nearly pristine, ‘99 tacoma prerunner. It was my first car and I’m the only owner. My husband, on the other hand, has quite literally run 3 vehicles into the ground just in the 10 years we’ve been together. 1 of which he never changed the oil on and ended up throwing a piston straight through the engine, going 70mph on the freeway. He drove my truck once and broke my center counsel top, put a hole in my seat and ripped my seatbelt with his pocket knife. He paid to fix everything and has not been allowed to even get in my truck since. He also changed my battery 1 time and messed up the connection to my alarm and stereo. He is also not allowed to touch my truck ever since.

Hey Julie, do you know?" and I'd pleasantly give them the answer. It was a fun little game but internally i was dying a little more each time. One of them once had the gall to then say "good for you little lady" before he walked away. I almost threw something at the back of his head.

When I worked at Office Depot we had a woman who came in regularly and refused to talk to female employees, wouldn't even look us in the eye, much less work with us. Would only work with male employees. Our print center was only made up of female employees so a male manager would have to come help her for every little thing. I got tired of it, told the guys to stop helping her, and would just start calling her on it. She'd walk up to the print center, see me - a woman - was the only one back there and she'd hang back and look around waiting for a dude. So I'd waltz up to her and ask "Are you still being sexist or do you want help with your printing?" Without fail she'd act like I wasn't there, usually just staring at whatever male employee was in sight probably trying to will him to come help her, but also getting visibly annoyed that I had the audacity to speak to her. But the guys were all backing me up so~ Then I'd just say "Still sexist, got it, well self-serve printing is over there." Then I'd go back to what I was doing and help every other customer around her. If a male employee was in the print center doing something else (ie; I print the price tag sheets, they're back there breaking them down and sorting them, sometimes even just back there chatting with me) she'd literally side step me at the counter to ask them for assistance and they'd just be like "no, sorry, super busy" and ignore her while I just stood in front of her with a shit eating grin like "I can help you or you can use self serve :D". She was one of those old people who can't be assed to learn basic things like how to use a printer, so could never get self-serve to work. Tragic the only people who were ever around to help were women. We went through a few months of this, her coming in, us asking her if she was still opting to be sexist, then her standing there for an eternity while all the male employees ignored her until she gave up and tried to use the self serve, inevitably hecked up her print job and had to pay for unusable prints if she managed to get it to print at all, and then leaving in a huff before she finally stopped coming.
Even now at my current job I get phone calls and I don't even get a "hello" I just get a "I need to speak to a man" and I just say "no" and hang up lmao.

I've been in the middle of nowhere Canada for the last month. I even managed to find a Karen and a Kyle in the almost empty campground. I was sitting outside the camper and these two walked by with their 3 dogs and started yelling at ME for "all the squirrels" in my campsite and how they were "annoying their dogs". Lady, gentleman...You are in the middle of a FOREST. This is the squirrels territory NOT YOURS! And when I said nothing and just sat there staring? "Do we have to phone the conservation office and report you?" Report me for WHAT? The CO did happen to drive by about an hour later and stopped to ask if I've seen any bears as a nearby campground has been having bear issues. I laughed and told him "Better not tell that couple in the glamper (seriously, it is at least $150 grand camper). They are already complaining about too many squirrels in my site and how they annoy their dogs." He laughed and said "Oh, them? Three dogs? Yeah. They were complaining about the lake having too many pickerel and no trout and I should do something about that or they would bring it up with the provincial parks." We had a good chuckle. They happened to be taking their dogs out for another walk later that afternoon and saw me grilling steak for supper and then were super upset because they are pescatarian and "the smell was making them ill". Sucks to be you, Karen. I'm allergic to fish and you don't see me marching by your campsite when you're cooking telling you that I'm going to have an allergic reaction if you keep cooking so leave me alone! But seriously, I thought camping in Nowhere, Canada would mean I would be free of Karens and Kyles. I guess not. (I was happy to see them pull out of the campground with their glamper yesterday afternoon.)
