    good day! middle of day 11 here. and i told you i would get back to you, once i got back from the Dr. great news! based on my lab results, and a physical exam, the Dr, who is an addictions specialist Dr, and is filling in for my regular GP, whos is on Christmas holidays, and did an exam, and i do not have ascites, nor any other indicator of liver/kidney damage. he told me to stop worrying, and stop looking at WebMD and sites like that. so, a clean bill of health. this not diminish my resolve. i will NEVER drink again. this is the biggest wake-up call of my life. i have been praying so hard, and maybe God reached down and helped me out. and thank you for your prayers, sean. blessed.

Keep up the good work and it looks like you have a fresh new start. Well... you enjoy yourself a celebratory non alcholic beverage! There are tons out there. God bless!

    While I've made the personal decision years ago to not drink anymore, I wish party drinkers and those that think alcohol has no consequences could watch your videos. I know so many in the restaurant and bar industry and my heart aches for the friendly regulars who drink every single day. I pray your videos reach those that need hope and help. You are healing yourself with these videos and a side effect of that is you are helping others. Hang in there.

      Thank you for this. Yes.... I have known so many people over the years that were the daily regulars that are no longer here, the " I only drink on weekends " people who are no longer here, it's really horrible what alcohol does to our society. I think we all start out... partying. Then it's not fun anymore. God bless!

      Such a shame, isn't it, how people, almost ubiquitously in society, believe alcohol is a no consequence sort of thing. Ever notice how when people talk about drinking in daily conversation there is always laughter in the conversation? As if it is fun, or no big deal, or not THAT bad for you. Especially young people. It is a HARD drug and has serious potential to really mess you up later, without you knowing until it has gotten too far.

    Greetings from Australia. I hear ya brother. I'm going through right now what you described. I'm 65 and have been a big drinker for 50 years. Beer in the beginning days and over the last few years my drink of choice was Port. Morning, noon and night. I'm surprised I lasted this long. Anyway, I've also had a big belly for ages so I wasn't too concerned when last November 2023 my belly started to explode in size. By early January I was in hospital with ascites and had 15ltrs drained. I'm now back home on the road to recovery. Your diet advise is exactly what I was told. Full-on protein, high energy, low salt, keep fluid intake to 2 ltrs. I had a giggle when you described your weight loss. I knick-named myself ( Skeletor ) due to all the weight loss around my face and upper body. I'm slowly getting back into lifting some weights again and getting on the push-bike. I've been 7 weeks sober now. It's hard but necessary............ Looking forward to your new updates. They give us all hope when things look glum................... God Bless You.....

    My sister was diagnosed with acute liver failure, got jaundice and had acites, they took off 30 pounds of flluid! She is now on furosemide and spironolactone (diuretics). She was diagnosed in January and is doing okay, but has to go to the doctor all the time now. She had esophageal varices and had to have banding, as she was vomiting blood. Alcohol is poison! I pray my sister keeps doing okay. She totally quit alcohol and is on a restrictive diet and fluid restriction. My sister had horrible back pain right before being diagnosed.

      @CarolReidCA 29 днів тому +1

      I hope she's OK! Not everyone with liver failure even uses alcohol, however. Some have genetic disorders, such as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, hemochromatosis, hypercholesterolemia, Wilson's disease, Berger's disease, etc.
      Some of these are genetic, and people can have some or even all of these. I have 4 of 5, and my liver failed. Now, I'm just praying I don't need a liver transplant.

    Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have been diagnosed with end-stage liver disease for the past 5 years and have been thru many of the same problems from cirrhosis, especially ascites. Almost died from throwing up blood from esophageal varices. I take a lot of the same meds. My weight has fluctuated between 118 to 134 lbs because of the fluid. I am going thru a bad bout of ascites right now. In January I went to the ER twice, only to be told they could not help me and also had 2 painful paracentesis procedures at interventual radiology that did not help the bloating and pain. The small amount of fluid removed from the second procedure was cloudy and might mean an infection (haven't got test results yet). Getting frustrated and depressed with the care I'm getting. I will try some of your suggestions and hope for the best. Wishing you the best and look forward to seeing more of your videos!

    My first paracentesis drained 19L, the Tech said it was close but not a record. The next was 16L, then 6L and finally gone. Its been about 10 years but I no longer take any medications. I don't remember ascites being painful but I think I got so used to it over a period of time, it was more uncomfortable after being drained, but not too long. One of my friends said I looked 9 months pregnant and my legs had pitting edema and petechiae (small red spots.) None of it is fun but I feel better now than I ever have in my life. Still have to be vigilant with follow-ups forever.

It really hurt me because I have broken a bunch of my ribs in kayaking accidents. They still bother me to this day, point is, all the pressure from my abdomen was pushing on my ribs causing a lot of pain. I just couldn't breathe. I know what u mean about looking 9 months pregnant. They kept telling me that I would breath better and feel better, I must have been so acclimated that I didn't even realize I was in pain or having trouble breathing. The first time (19L) they did not give me albumin after which I was told should have been done, every time after they gave it by IV. If you are drained ask about albumin if it is not given, it helps stabilize the blood fluids so they don't leak out into the available spaces...legs and belly.@@liverdisease-qb6rk

      @@liverdisease-qb6rk I live in the states. The healthcare system in this country is definitely messed up. We pay more for drugs in our own country than any other country in the world. Most of these drugs are produced by big pharmaceutical companies right here in the US. That is wrong, but there is more to the story.
      Countries that practice socialized medicine have outrageous tax rates. Anyone that thinks they get FREE healthcare is badly mistaken. Nothing comes without a price tag. Plus, you will have to wait for your turn in the queue to receive what could be life saving procedures.
      I know this because I used to travel to Canada a lot for business. I have/had several great friends there. One of these friends acquired esophageal cancer around 2015. The cancer was isolated at the time, but he needed surgery to remove part of his esophagus…to make a long story short, he was told it would be approximately 7 months before the surgery could be performed. During this time he was receiving radiation and other treatments. 1 month before his scheduled surgery, he was informed the cancer had spread to many other areas of his body. They continued to treat him with radiation and chemotherapy for another few months but it was too late to help his current condition. He died 4 months later.
      Many people travel to the US to receive surgery for this exact reason. Many cancers are very aggressive and require timely treatment…anyone wishing for socialized medicine should understand how the whole process works.
      Thanks for this channel man! It’s really helping me on my journey to sobriety…day 3 again.
      Merry Christmas and God bless!

      Hey there. Yes, here in the USA, getting sick, especially very sick can ruin you financially. Many people loose everything because of it. They have even changed the laws in my state to where they can come after your assets, freeze your bank accounts, and put a lean against your home due to unpaid medical bills. It's pretty sad. God bless! I really want to go there one day. I know I have Irish roots and would like to see where my ancestors came from.
