hi LD, just a little msg to share a significant milestone with you today, I have completed my 1st month sober!! This feels surreal to me, I never imagined I could break free from the grip of that devil after struggling for so many years. And I owe this incredible achievement to you, ever since I found you, my life has gone to a profound transformation!! I was so miserable, and now I feel so liberated and excited about the future! Thank you, thank you and thank you again my dear friend, your videos mean the world to me. I love you so, so much. May God bless you abundantly LD

Your videos were god sent. I started having some slight discomfort on my right upper quadrant. After an ultrasound found out I have fatty enlarged liver. I quit drinking right away and now I’m 3 months sober. Latest ultrasound shows a totally normal liver. Your videos motivated me to change my life once and for all.

Hey G! Crazy wind here too !. Your drinking habits sound so much like my son's father. He would drink from morning till night. Vodka and beer all day. Never ate food. Funny thing, I never seen him falling down drunk. He was slow walking and talking. Like he had a steady even buzz 24/7. He died in his sleep about 8 years ago. He was 62. We weren't together at the time. Thank you for your story. Have a great day tomorrow . Love ya ❤

I never cared for beer that much. Started with wine to help me sleep. I later moved into a duplex next door to my son. He introduced me to Captain Morgan and Coke. I remember going to work drunk as can be. When my grandson cried bcoz I was drunk, I stopped. My son didn't.

Please don't give yourself a hard time for succumbing to alcohol if you work in the hospitality business LD.
I'm 63 but from watching your videos was as you were when you were young doing outdoor sports, which always ended with quite a few beers.
At 40 I bought into a pub business (or a bar, as I'm a Brit) which became the place to go, live music the works. At the end of each night the bar staff would always have a few drinks on me before they went home. After they went I would cash up the tills and hit the scotch whilst doing it on my own. The seed of alcoholism was planted.
I sold the business because of my drinking but ironically continued it for over 20 years more . I now think why, but I do know when, and I often think of the bar staff who were already drinking heavily at that time, over 20 years ago I hope they're all well.
    Simon

Timeframe of drinking similar to mine. 10 years socially and another 12 hard core. I binged hard on weekends. Mon-Thurs hardly drank but come Friday I went 48 hours hard - basically until I passed out. Diagnosed last Sept. after I got Ascites. 7 liters drained. Hasn't returned. Quit Alcohol and cigarettes cold turkey. MELD was at 16 six months ago. Now down to 10. Liver function tests progressively getting better. Liver enzymes AST and ALT still a bit high which is a little concerning. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your experience. It does help others.

    Allo LD
It sounds to me, like the gradual process into severe alcoholism was a light buzz to start with, like most of us, then as your life progressed into more real excessive stress to more heavy alcohol consumption to the point of pressing the ‘self destruct’ button without you even realising you were doing it! This is ‘flight or fight’, you were doing both at the same time!!
I’ve said it before… if you don’t do it, someone needs to extend these real life horror stories to the young adult communities to the college interns etc.
Alcohol is a demon that sits on your shoulder, waiting to consume you!
Well done, you’re doing something great, not only to help your family, but so many others. Onwards and upwards!

Helpful video for everyone who enjoys drinks to the point of being susceptible to undesired health problems.

I have a topic. What do you do about feeling like people don't want to be around you or they don't feel comfortable being around you while drinking? It could just be in my mind but do others feel this way?

At the time of your heaviest drinking, did you realize that you were killing yourself? If yes then how did you rationalize keeping going on? You've mentioned an older man who was a heavy drinker in some previous video. But i don't believe that old man was drinking the amount of hard liquor you've mentioned. Charles Bukowski was an alcoholic who died in his early 70s... But he was mostly drinking wine and beer.
