1:04:24 Good question! Remember when Lex sliced his hand and shed some of his blood on Zod’s corpse during the metamorphosis process? Lex thought he’d had some connection with Doomsday by siring it with his blood by mixing DNAs, but you could fortunately or thankfully say that didn’t go as planned. I came here from your other channel to watch your reactions in chronological order, Rico. And I’m loving everything you said during this and Man of Steel. About the Martha thing, it's exactly what you said, Batman's whole deal was that Superman was an alien, a god, a tyrant, but when he said "You're letting him kill Martha" it not only triggered Bruce's PTSD (as we see from the various nightmares) but it also shows him that Clark is just as human as he is. He has a mother, and Bruce's sees himself as the guy who killed his own parents. And that is enough to stop him.
You're right!! Expanding on what you said, I wouldn't call it PTSD, I just think the name Martha threw him out for a loop and left him confused, stopped Bruce from killing Superman but made him even angrier, it's when Lois explains it that "it also shows him that Clark is just as human as he is". But not only that, Bruce sees that this alien has a human mother, as well as a human girlfriend/partner, something that Bruce has never had and that Alfred wants him to have (parallels to the Christopher Nolan Bruce and Alfred with the whole Florence scenes), so because of this I believe Bruce thinks that Clark is even more human than himself.
Bruce Wayne hearing anyone say Martha, had ptsd and shits himself. Too bad he put aside that ‘even 1% chance Superman is evil, he must be taken care of’ over a name.

59:55 If Superman has a human mother, he is not just an alien invador, he has a human element to him. Lois coming in and saying Martha was the name of Superman's MOTHER changed Batman's view about him. The name Martha just caught his attention, the most important thing was the information that Superman was raised by a human family and this family was in danger.
50:24. Rico, you asked how did Superman know that Lois was falling to catch her. In the comics, Superman would often listens to Lois' heartbeat. For example, he calls it "the rhythm of his life" in Superman: For Tomorrow story arc. It's like when he was a child in MoS he listen his mom voice because Clark can never turn off his super-hearing, just he can't . Also in MoS after escaping from the starship Clark stood next to Lois and could hear that Zod threatened his mother.

Later, when Lex tells Bruce in prison that "they are coming", he is referring to Steppenwolf, Darksaid (DC's greatest villain). Now this I ask you please, when it is your turn to see "Justice League" please do not look at the 2017 version, because it is very bad (because there was a change of producers, and whoever entered the film lost, has a lot of reviews) and instead you watch "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (he was the producer who should have finished the movie, and if that would be the order). Greetings from Peru
This films just keeps getting better every time you watch it, this film changed my view on films in general, watch the allegories parallels and symbolisms on this film itll make you apprectiate it more, liked your reaction, theres already lots of comments on the Martha thing, other than that great commentary, liked your perspective and views.
YESSS I’ve been waiting for this. I’m so glad you are watching the Ultimate Edition. Every time I watch this I get a deeper understanding of the film Edit: you probably already know this, but do NOT watch Justice league (2017). Make sure you watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)
In the comics whenever Doomsday takes damage/dies he evolves to be resistant to the damage again. It was pretty cool watching Doomsday keep evolving here. The Death of Superman is a classic graphic novel, check it out
The Martha scene also is about this alien who's evil to batman and with what would of been his dying breathe he says save my mother, batman been around for 20 years hes seen evil and they usually say they will get revenge and what not, with his PTSD and superman saying that it snaps batman of that path of destruction and it's a start to a new path of a new hero which we see in zack snyder justice league movie
Dude, great reaction. Your comments after the movie were on point. You caught a lot of the nuance that many people miss. Miss your beautiful lady though. Wouldve liked to see her reaction as well
For anyone interested in a more deeper analysis of the movie, I recommend the Batman v Superman by the minute podcast. The best way to appreciate this movie. They even invite people from the film. Like Ben Affleck stunt double. And so on
Humanity: "We want a saviour figure to help us in times of great need" Superman: *Shows up to do that exact same thing* Humanity: "No, Superman is too powerful, he might turn on us at anytime, he shouldn't have acted!"
So at one point Henry Caveile walked around New York city, during the daytime, wearing his Clark Kent costume, for a few hours, and basically was unnoticed. As dumb as the glasses thing is the fact that nobody noticed Henry with them is a testament to how well they worked.
Batman doesn't save Martha because her mothers have the same names. Batman in BVS is a guy who suffers from PTSD, as seen in his nightmares, his medication and alcoholism and the dark path he takes after Robin's death. But Batman at heart has always been a scared child, for the only moment that changed his life. A boy who turned fear into his weapon and put on a suit, to prevent others from going through the trauma that he experienced. But as you say, in the first act of BVS Bruce sees firsthand how an alien arrives and wreaks havoc in Metropolis and causes thousands of deaths. At that moment Bruce looks helpless, weak and again SCARED, as Alfred says "fear, anger and the feeling of helplessness make good men cruel." Bruce uses all his hatred and makes it his mission, to kill Superman by any means necessary, and in that moment of vulnerability Batman does not find an invincible alien capable of destroying the world, Bruce sees a scared child, and in Clark Bruce he sees himself, in that alley like so many years ago, and Bruce becomes Joe Chill with the gun, and in turn in everything that he always always tries to stop. And at the same time that he sees Clark vulnerable he discovers that he has a mother, and therefore has human ties, a family and therefore humanity. He's not the monster he wanted him to be. And again, Bruce suffers from PTSD, so hearing the name of his mother at that moment generates a trigger that overwhelms him and makes him wake up from her "spell". Hence, Bruce, who in this universe is a soldier, who uses his fear as a weapon, builds a new mission, "Martha will not die tonight", because this time he can do something to protect her, and he will prevent her from a son loses his mother this time. Many people hate this scene and I judge and criticize it because they are badly used to receiving everything chewed up and with 4 jokes in the middle, and to me this scene seems to be the basis of the Batman character and his return from darkness, and subsequent evolution that we see in ZSJL. I love BVS and I love the DC that Snyder brought us and his idea of these epic and momentous characters.
Great reaction. I'd honestly LOVE to now see how your partner would react to these DCEU movies. LOL..I agree that it is funny that in both Man of Steel & BvS, people start evacuating buildings way too late. If you line up the angle of the heat vision beam from both movies, they line up perfectly. Bruce Wayne ran into the smoke because that's the type of guy he is. I cannot honestly say myself, though, if I would have that kind of courage, even though I would want to help. I still remember when stills and clips first came out for this movie, fans were all clamoring at the theory that little girl Bruce rescued would be Batgirl. FYI...not many people are aware there are several issues of BvS prequel comics that cover some of the gap between Man of Steel & BvS that answer at least some questions some fans & critics had of this film & puts them into more context, including the scene in Africa and what caused Batman to just snap and not care anymore about having limits. I really loved those prequel comics and it made this movie even more enjoyable & I really wish parts of those comics were put in the movie itself. Unfortunately, not many people know about them and they were not promoted well either. Personally, I never got the point of prequel comics because casual movie fans are not going to read the comics or even know about them. Several MCU movies also have prequel comics and I doubt many even know about them either. But, I digress, LOL! I LOVE this movie. I do not know if you ever saw Batman: The Animated Series, but this Batman reminded me of that version. If you never saw that show, go see it. From what I read back then, this movie originally was gonna have Riddler in it and Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Riddler. But, then Riddler was removed and Jesse was recast as Lex Luthor. Eisenberg then asked Mr. Snyder if he could play Lex the same way and was told he could. I do not mind this take on Lex. I prefer the take on Smallville, but did not mind this take. But, personally, I thought he was a bit too scatter-brained and goofy and not enough evil genius businessman. Zack Snyder talked about his 4 hour version of this movie that gave much greater story arcs for each main character. That version was screened to WB executives 1 year before the theatrical release & was given a standing ovation. It seems obvious to me something happened between then and when the theatrical release came out that caused WB to change Snyder's version. This movie is the 1st DCEU movie that made me seriously resent WB for messing with a director's vision and then blaming said director. I loved the theatrical release too & thinks some fans & critics were way too harsh on it, but this ultimate edition shows how much WB did mess with Snyder's vision and then, unfortunately, led them to subsequently mess with David Ayer's vision for Suicide Squad as a result of some critics not liking this movie, then also led WB to severely mess with Snyder's Justice League and butcher that to death. I really liked Ayer's Suicide Squad, but am much more interested in Ayer's original version. Snyder's Justice League version is SO MUCH better than the theatrical release there is even no comparison worth making....and this comes from me who actually really liked the theatrical version despite it's many flaws and even defended it to haters. But, yes, Snyder's version is so much better in every way. I could go on a huge rant on how Snyder got royally screwed by WB and Joss Whedon, but you get the idea, LOL!
Next you can watch Wonder Woman (2017) and then Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). Most of the things that left you confused are set up for Justice League but please don't even go near the theatrical cut of Justice League (2017) lmao!! So glad you take your time to really dive deep and understand these characters but then again I know I can always expect you to do that! Hope you get better soon!
I enjoy villains like this version of Lex Luthor, Joker (Dark Knight), Moriarty and Eurus (Sherlock), Zemo, and that one guy from Train to Busan. I'd put them as my version of "Sinister Six".
Yes yes, Batman here is the older Batman. He knew that the method of catching prisoners and handing them over to the police does not work, but becomes violent and fights them and Sometimes he kills them by putting a Batman mark on his body (And when the criminal enters prison, there are people who kill those who carry the mark of Batman, for the mark of Batman is death) This movie is based on the comic The Dark Knight Returns. There is an animation movie in two parts that has the same name The Dark Knight Returns and a different story that I recommend to you, great movie
Rico, I seen you said in the comments of an older video that you haven’t seen Peaky Blinders!! You should definitely react to it! The best British series there is & is quite an accurate representation of post WW1 Britain, and has some of the most badass characters in TV history in it too!!
Hey! Only just discovered this channel - so glad you’re enjoying these movies! You’re right, they’re a really refreshing different take compared to the MCU. You should definitely watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League next - most of the things you we’re confused about get cleared up in that film
I always feel like Batman realizing that Superman not only humanized Superman in Batman’s eyes but it also humanized Bruce again in that moment. He had lost who he was and became a monster while thinking Superman was a monster. In that moment in Bruce’s mind, they both became human again and he realized what his mission as Batman was all about. Enacting vengeance to save the innocent from going through what he went through as a kid.
I think Batman became human again after Superman's sacrifice, cause in the werehouse scene he didn't spot killing criminals, but later on he didn't brand Lex Luthor and got his hope in humanity back to form the JL
people complain about that stopping him from killing Clark but he is demanding a response it's not stopping him but delaying him and it leads to him realising he is human at heart
1:00:05 Batman didn't kill him because at that moment he relized that he is becoming just like the man who killed his parents and at that point he understood if he dose it he woulldn't be any better than Joe Chill
This movie is heavily underated. The layers of storytelling, even though at some times is alot, is phenomenal. Reminds me of Civil War and the execution of that story. And don't get me started on the action too. Batman and Superman are just bad ass. So regarding the final thing Lex said, basically because the ship knew all and taught him, he now knows all too and he knows that there's someone coming to Earth Also if anyone knows why Batman kills his enemies in this universe, can you let me know 🙏 thanks 😂
You dont need any translations and explanations, the next one you're watching is called Zack Snyders Justice League. My man Snyder will explain, like he always does.
One thing I particularly liked about this batman. Superman has been on earth for years and nothing has really come close to truly killing superman. Batman is literally just like right I'll fucking do it.
Something to pay attention to next time: Throughout the movie there are 4 big moments where there are horses on screen. Like the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse counting down to the invasion of Steppenwolf and Darkseid, who are from the planet Apokalypse.
Batman's last humanity, and his memory of when he was happiest, is when he was with his parents. Batman was going to finish off Superman because he didn't consider him human, just a monster who believed himself above humanity, but who, after all, was tremendously dangerous. The nightmares they have and Luthor's manipulation encourage that look. When Superman talks about his mother, Batman realizes that maybe she wasn't as unhuman as he thought. He begins to empathize with the alien being, realizing that the two are not that different. That their mothers have the same name is an even bigger shock that makes Batman lose his cool and part of his rationality. That's why if it's justified, and the mothers having the same name is already in the comics, so it's just using a resource that already exists.
I don't know if anybody explained the scene where batman was fighting all those soldiers in his sleep. So I'm gonna do my best in explaining it. So basically that scene was called the knightmare scene. A scene of what is to come in the future where an ultimate villain who is named darkseid who takes over earth. When superman said "she was my world, and you took her from me" is referring to batman failing to save Lois from behind killed by darkseid. After his loss he succumbed to darkseids "anti life equation" which is long story short able to take control over weak minds. And since supermans mind was weak after the death of lios lane, he now works for darkseid. I hope that helped!
the nightmare scene where superman kills batman is a dream and a possible future....But flash warning bruce is not a dream, if you look carefully when bruce wakes up...the papers on his desk are still floating. The one who is coming is Steppenwolf
1:00:22 u need a brain to understand that . here batman sees himself in the position of the killer . superman on the other hand doesnt care about himself but his mother who is a human. that is why batman stops
1:11:08 In the comics Wonder Woman is actually stronger than Superman, she is the daughter of Zeus with the queen of the Amazons, female warriors with a naturally stronger physiology than an ordinary woman, so when mixed with divine blood generated a being countless times stronger, she has defeated Superman many times and Batman himself said that defeating her would be a lot more work than defeating Superman because in addition to being as strong as he is (she has divine powers like energy manipulation, animal telepath, flight plus limited electrokinesis) she has almost no weaknesses, unlike Superman who has several ones (Kryptonite, magic, telepathy, etc) plus Superman only uses brute strenght when fighting, but she uses brute strength combined with an 5,000 years of battle experience, but in the movie they left her a lot weaker for turn Superman into the most powerful being on the planet or something, but she's still strong as hell.
You have to remember that batman is DEFINED by the pain of seeing his parents killed right in front of him so him hearing “you’re letting them kill Martha” is deeefinitely going to trigger a deep response and then finding out that this “alien monster” actually is also a person with people that love him. Made him reevaluate wtf he was doing
*Bro stop hating on Batman lmao* *In all seriousness, it's okay to cry when Superman dies. I cried my eyes out as a child when the first did the Death of Superman and I'm not even a Superman fan. This was a great reaction!*
I know people have a problem with the dude still in the building, but honestly, with building collapsing outside and an alien ship in the sky, some people may feel better being inside. On 911, lots of people remained in the building after the plane hit, until they were told to leave. So, that scene makes sense to me.
Hey what’s up sir, I’m curious but are you gonna do a reaction to Zach Snyder’s Justice League? I saw the Man of Steel reaction and Batman vs Superman. So I’m guessing you still gotta do Wonder Woman and then Justice League.
The evil version of superman that would be terrifying to me is one that built up a good tolerance to kryptonite. Because then there is really no way to stop him from instantly killing you because the kryptonite couldn't slow him down as much as it would. But honestly I'm sure batman would figure something out

Every time I watch this I get a deeper understanding of the film
Edit: you probably already know this, but do NOT watch Justice league (2017). Make sure you watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)
I mean he could watch the 2017 justice league movie then watch the Synder cut to see how big the difference is
@@tmac731 better to do it the other way round I think
@@horrorking6409 naw. Its better to experience the pain that us fans went through in the theater in 2017
@@tmac731 I think he should watch zsjl first
In the comics whenever Doomsday takes damage/dies he evolves to be resistant to the damage again. It was pretty cool watching Doomsday keep evolving here. The Death of Superman is a classic graphic novel, check it out
28:23 love how your expression goes from "ok lets do this" to "wtf is going on?" haha
Such a underrated movie.
Bla bla bla. So much head canon to justify the shittiest moment in a shitty movie.
Hey bud if you have to write a paragraph to explain it , it just meant snyders writing was bad

50:33 superman has super hearing. He always hears Lois. it's common in comics as well as animated movies.
And so on
Btw that Knightmare sequence will make more sense after you watch the sydercut
Humanity: "We want a saviour figure to help us in times of great need"
Superman: *Shows up to do that exact same thing*
Humanity: "No, Superman is too powerful, he might turn on us at anytime, he shouldn't have acted!"
"Wow she's STRONG.. I mean I knew she was strong, but she's STRONG" 😂 My new favourite line
So at one point Henry Caveile walked around New York city, during the daytime, wearing his Clark Kent costume, for a few hours, and basically was unnoticed.
As dumb as the glasses thing is the fact that nobody noticed Henry with them is a testament to how well they worked.
The thing is that he wasn't even wearing glasses.
Hiding in plain sight.
30:46 notice those papers flying . it is not a dream
You gotta love when Rico react to deep story line movie! Lets goooo
At that moment Bruce looks helpless, weak and again SCARED, as Alfred says "fear, anger and the feeling of helplessness make good men cruel."
Bruce uses all his hatred and makes it his mission, to kill Superman by any means necessary, and in that moment of vulnerability Batman does not find an invincible alien capable of destroying the world, Bruce sees a scared child, and in Clark Bruce he sees himself, in that alley like so many years ago, and Bruce becomes Joe Chill with the gun, and in turn in everything that he always always tries to stop.
Bro I picked up your channel about 3 weeks ago and I've been hooked on your reactions since. Keep them coming bro. Good job
I'm glad you saw the ultimate edition, I'm going to be waiting for your reaction of Justice League the Snyder cut.
I enjoy villains like this version of Lex Luthor, Joker (Dark Knight), Moriarty and Eurus (Sherlock), Zemo, and that one guy from Train to Busan. I'd put them as my version of "Sinister Six".
The reason Martha name drop stopped batman was because he saw the humanity in superman when this god is asking him to save his mother
A future classic, people just don't see it yet
Yes yes, Batman here is the older Batman. He knew that the method of catching prisoners and handing them over to the police does not work, but becomes violent and fights them and Sometimes he kills them by putting a Batman mark on his body (And when the criminal enters prison, there are people who kill those who carry the mark of Batman, for the mark of Batman is death)
This movie is based on the comic The Dark Knight Returns.
There is an animation movie in two parts that has the same name The Dark Knight Returns and a different story that I recommend to you, great movie
I don't care what some critics think.
This film was incredible!
Critics are wrong.
Another example: Capone (movie with Tom Hardy), trust me.
Thank you for showing some love for the DC side of things. The lows can be Very low sometimes but the highs are def worth watching!
What lows? The DCEU has been so comic accurate.
Go read a comic. Casual.
This movie is proof that Zack Snyder understand these characters
Rico, I seen you said in the comments of an older video that you haven’t seen Peaky Blinders!! You should definitely react to it! The best British series there is & is quite an accurate representation of post WW1 Britain, and has some of the most badass characters in TV history in it too!!
Hey! Only just discovered this channel - so glad you’re enjoying these movies! You’re right, they’re a really refreshing different take compared to the MCU. You should definitely watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League next - most of the things you we’re confused about get cleared up in that film
Rico: She's strong!
You might say she's... God tier
Bla bla bla. Still shitty.
@@crankfastle8138 what's shitty then?
I love this movie!
So regarding the final thing Lex said, basically because the ship knew all and taught him, he now knows all too and he knows that there's someone coming to Earth
Also if anyone knows why Batman kills his enemies in this universe, can you let me know 🙏 thanks 😂
You dont need any translations and explanations, the next one you're watching is called Zack Snyders Justice League. My man Snyder will explain, like he always does.
Tbh you are the first person I've seen to have correctly understood the Martha scene on the first viewing.
Best CBM to date. There is nothing better than this. MOS is amazing as well.

1:13:49 remember that scream . ZSJL ❤
One thing I particularly liked about this batman. Superman has been on earth for years and nothing has really come close to truly killing superman. Batman is literally just like right I'll fucking do it.
Thank u for making ur reactions an hour and a half 🥺
Fun fact Supes always listening to Lois and his moms heartbeats when he is on earth.
23:21 he meant Joker the villain
Something to pay attention to next time: Throughout the movie there are 4 big moments where there are horses on screen.
Like the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse counting down to the invasion of Steppenwolf and Darkseid, who are from the planet Apokalypse.
I really really really hopes he watches Zach Snyder's Justice League! I know its 4 hours, but maybe he can split it into 2 different parts
Everyone likes this movie, but not all the woke movie critics lol
Still makes me laugh when clark wears hat and coat he doesn't feel the cold
the nightmare scene where superman kills batman is a dream and a possible future....But flash warning bruce is not a dream, if you look carefully when bruce wakes up...the papers on his desk are still floating. The one who is coming is Steppenwolf
30:09 "She was my world, and you took her from me" Ok but that doesn't necessarily mean that you go rogue on the entire planet
To be fair, Knightmare future Superman is brainwashed by the anti-life equation.
I hope this means you're watching the Snydercut of Justice League next. Post it on four parts and you'll be pleased
When the warden calls lex Prisoner ac231940 . It means action comics issue 23 1940. Lex Luthers 1st appearance in comics.
1:18:53 you only need 1 word to explain that. DARKSEID
The girl in the cell who points at the ceiling is Clint Eastwood's neighbor in Gran Torino.
I loved the reaction 💯💕 please continue Im so intrigued by the series
You have to remember that batman is DEFINED by the pain of seeing his parents killed right in front of him so him hearing “you’re letting them kill Martha” is deeefinitely going to trigger a deep response and then finding out that this “alien monster” actually is also a person with people that love him. Made him reevaluate wtf he was doing
*Bro stop hating on Batman lmao*
*In all seriousness, it's okay to cry when Superman dies. I cried my eyes out as a child when the first did the Death of Superman and I'm not even a Superman fan. This was a great reaction!*
I think finding out a god that you hate is really just, a human who also shares the same mom name... would humanize him.
1:23:05 his name is Alexander Luthor (son of Lex Luthor) he talk about his father XD
59:21 for Martha lol
Loved the reaction💪🏽
Can’t wait to see your reaction of Wonder Woman and Justice league- Snyder’s cut💪🏽
I know people have a problem with the dude still in the building, but honestly, with building collapsing outside and an alien ship in the sky, some people may feel better being inside.
On 911, lots of people remained in the building after the plane hit, until they were told to leave. So, that scene makes sense to me.
You should watch Zack Snyder’s justice league next.
Really appreciate the length of this reaction must have been a bitch to edit etc so fair play, love the content 👍🏻
I mean martha scene is gold I understood if since the movie was released
The dream Bruce has will make sense in the next one. Side note, I’m not sure Flash was a dream as papers are flying around when Bruce wakes up…
29:33 those are parademons darkseids minions
17:55 batman knows 23 language
Hey what’s up sir, I’m curious but are you gonna do a reaction to Zach Snyder’s Justice League? I saw the Man of Steel reaction and Batman vs Superman. So I’m guessing you still gotta do Wonder Woman and then Justice League.
if you want to know what Luthor was saying at the end you better check out Zack Snyder's justice league(2021 version) (not 2017 version)
Lex is such a supergenius that he even made people in the audience hate Batman and Superman even though it was all faked.
That isn't just lex kudos to the writers of the movie.
Get your popcorn 🍿 ready for The Snyder Cut 😎. Movie it EPIC!!
The evil version of superman that would be terrifying to me is one that built up a good tolerance to kryptonite. Because then there is really no way to stop him from instantly killing you because the kryptonite couldn't slow him down as much as it would. But honestly I'm sure batman would figure something out
It wasn't a dream. It was a premonition and the flash wasn't a dream he traveled back in time
Best comic book movie ever!
