finally an honest review that gives credit to the quality of Yorkville speakers (the EF-15p's are my weapon of choice) but i've always liked how the EV's sounded tho..
Hey Paul. Pretty much out of the box these speakers are tunes with too much highs n mids. Do the following..... Live mode/suspended. The frequencies for treble and mid I left alone but reduced the gains. Treble I reduced to -8, mid I reduced to -6 and the bass I set the frequency to 75htz and left at zero gain. The sound was very punchy without the ear piercing highs.
Let me try to remember..... It was definitely Live mode/suspended. The frequencies for treble and mid I left alone but reduced the gains. Treble I reduced to -8, mid I reduced to -6 and the bass I set the frequency to 75htz and left at zero gain. The sound was very punchy without the ear piercing highs.
Hi Mikey, I just watched your video. Question, hiw heavy ks this ETX 15P box? Can you lift it by yourself? I owned the ETX 12" but I am looking to get the ETX 15". Thanks!
there pretty beastly. I ended up selling and going column array. I lost quite a bit of volume but my back is thanking me. yes they are manageable by yourself but it’s annoying over time of owning them.
@@djmikeyt9168 I have the EV Evolve 50M Array system and the JBL EON One MKll. I would like to have a pair of nice 15" to use like at school event with 200 to 250 Student. For big events 150 plus guests I use 2 EV ETX 12" with 2 Yamaha DXS15mkII Sub 15". I would like to try not to carry 4 speakers and instead carrying 2 speakers for guest between 150 and 225. The EV ETX 12 to me are not that heavy, but there isn't a store in my city where I can go and try the weight on the ETX 15"
Hi Dj Mikey T, I would like your opinion on what top speakers would go best with the ls801p subs. I am purchasing two. I was thing of going with the ETX 15p instead of the Yorkville PS15P. Because the EV apparently have better clarity and I like the built in DSP. What would you recommend? I live in New Zealand and the shops in my area don't carry stock of the speakers I'm considering so I can't listen to them. The only way I can make my decision is from researching on the Internet. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks Dan.
what threw ME off when I first ran them was the wood cabs directing sound out FRONT instead of back and sides- after a few years of plastic cabs bleeding sound into my DJ area, I was not hearing the sound from BEHIND the ETX 15P -naturally I blew the bass drivers 4x
Hey Kaya, there actually next on my list. I've been looking hard at those. I have not tho heard them. Taking a ride out next week to Guitar Center to check them out
Hey djmikey T, great video... im looking to upgrade my audio system and would like your honest opinion on these since the time you have done the video. They worth the buying or would you recommend another brand of speakers? Just looking to upgrade to a better aound system that i can use and not worry about upgrading for a few years after. Thanks for any suggestiona and feeback.
DJNexuz1 hey my friend no problem. Well let me start off by saying they are awesome. I'm not still using them but only for 2 reasons. There heavy as heck and there really big. I have a small car and it caused me packing issues. If I had a truck I'd still be using these. I am now using QSC 12's and a sub. The sound isn't quite the same but works out well with the compact size of the tops.
Thanks for the reply... well yea just looking into upgrading... some say rcf others say qsc, jbl... i have the elx series from Ev without a sub but plan on getting one witht the new system or maybe just add a sub to my elx series... what would your opinion on that be? Thanks
DJNexuz1 the elx are actually really nice. I have a set lol. I would definitely keep them and just run a nice sub. Rcf has the 8003 which is a beast, QSC 181 is really nice and of course the ETX 18 is a solid sub too. Any of those. Keep those tops tho.
Dj Mikey T how do you still feel about your ev's i have a jbl dual sub 18 the biggest on the market but not always trying to use that...need a set of speakers that i can use with out the subs would you say parasource 15p or etx15's???
As stand alone speakers there great for smaller parties. If you want that power definitely stay with the JBL. The new SRX line is insane. I have a pair of the SRX15's and I stopped using my sub unless it's a big wedding or prom.
Hey bro.. Do you think a pair of the yorkville ps15p would definitely kill these etx15p..I am undecided about the yorkville ps15p or the jbl 715p. I have a pair of the kw122 from QSC but I was not very happy...
No not at all. Depends on the application. Brute force I haven't yet to hear a speaker as powerful as these. Man they got a punch.Yorkville Parasource did an amazing job with the build quality on these. They are extremely loud and punchy like most other Yorkville Speakers. If your going for clean precise sound tho EV has them beat. Not quite nearly as loud but the ETX speaker line produces an absolutely amazing sound. Hope this helps
Thanx i think i got it. Im a clarity freak so i would prob lean towards that EV. I got some older EV products that still shine. And ive heard Yorkville products - definitely a bang for a buck ! Any word on Yamahas DSR & JBL PRX series ?
The only things you have to remember is that the first limit light means nothing . The speaker has a limit light then a peak will come on then the temp . The limit and peak is AAAAAAAA ok just so people know .
Dj Mikey T The Parasourse sound bad. The EV's sound amazing and go loud enough for most events, If you would want to go louder then I would recommend the ETX35p's or more ETX15p's
That unfortunately is just bad luck 😖 many of my friends using the ETX love them and use every weekend with no problems at all. Mine are actually sitting in storage. Stopped using them because there so heavy. I've been using a set of RCF 715's that sound great and are super light. Don't sound as good as the ETX but there very light 😋
+Dj Mikey T I'm a speaker Hoarder, for cases like this, you never know when you need to setup at two different venues on the same day, I have a great kid that sets up for me, I'm too old to be carrying heavy cabinets. Don't get me wrong I loved the speakers for their sound, but the quality is in question
Thank you for the honest answer.. Jbl just made my decision even harder with the brand new srx815p it looks like a real competitor to the etx and yorkville.. Check it out and let me know what you think....
Maybe you can give us a little more info. We are here as fellow Djs to help each other with reviews to make a better buying experience for other Djs. If something is very bad please let us know what it is so we know. Thanks 👍🏽

yessss checking out reviews on this now and found your video! Good Shit.
Hi, i own one and have a issue with limit and temperatura at 0db. Did you have it ?
Could tell me how to set the settings in the back to make them sound good please

glad you rock real hip hop on this review...

I learned how to run them and made a video at a wedding recently showing the bass and highs from across a dance floor - with no sub
Hi am a new DJ... Do you think two of this will be just fine for indoor wedding event with 300 guest?

Good day Dj Mikey T have you been able to hear the jbl srx800 series? If so how do they compare to the EV ETX and the Yorkville parasource line?
Hey Kaya, there actually next on my list. I've been looking hard at those. I have not tho heard them. Taking a ride out next week to Guitar Center to check them out
ok, let us know what you think. Looking to make a purchase soon, been looking at those 3 lines and wanna know how the jbls compare with the other 2.
What changes did you make to it, Did you add/take away treble? Or add/take away bass
What EQ did you do?

Dj Mikey T thanks for your suggestions will look into those subs... and yes the elx have not let me down ... good day👍
Dj Mikey T btw if you had to recommend RCF tops which would you recommend... thanks... any opinion on the new qsc 12.2? Thanks
what your setting on your eq?
I'm looking into an upgrade. Sounds good

The yorkville would squash these. Those Parasourse are no joke. Stay away from the 7 series JBL. They sound terrible.
That’s a small room bro. How did you set it up in the back?
Have you tried using it with an optimizer or drive rack?
Was hearing amazing things about those yorkville ps12p u have,, Are you saying these EVs got em beat across the board ?
No not at all. Depends on the application. Brute force I haven't yet to hear a speaker as powerful as these. U should try QSC
what settings did you use to get them to sound good? i have them at 0db, -2db on treble and club mode and tripod setting, is there a better setting?
I would definitely stay with yorkville tops. The EVs can't keep up with the ls801. I would go parasource 15p if money wasn't a issue.
Dj Mikey T The Parasourse sound bad. The EV's sound amazing and go loud enough for most events, If you would want to go louder then I would recommend the ETX35p's or more ETX15p's
+Dj Mikey T I had nothing but issues with the ETX15P, my yorkvliles had never let me down. I'm going thru a nightmare with these after only four gigs
That unfortunately is just bad luck 😖 many of my friends using the ETX love them and use every weekend with no problems at all. Mine are actually sitting in storage.
