- I finally tried out Team Fortress 2 Classic, and let me tell you, it's amazing. I'd say one of the best mods ever made for this game. Oh, and the nail gun is fun.

valve taking down a mod not because its content, but because they did it better then valve cares to try and do.

If there’s anyone who would love the absence of mini sentries, it would be a scout main.

Here's a neat fix for the mini sentry
-doesn't fire immediately, but has a three second timer for whenever a enemy is in sight, in which it'll begin to beep faster and faster, before it shoots a single blast of bullets with perfect aim
-deals a TON, of damage, but takes a along time for it completely scan a target

The Nailgun is easily my favorite new weapon in this mod. Last night I convinced my whole team to use it and we together could just MELT Soldiers and Heavies. This mod is basically TF2, with all the fancy stuff removed, and super polished. Seriously, so many little animations and details have been added compared to normal TF2.
It's everything I wanted from TF2
Tbh I was expecting it to be as useless as the TFC nail gun but they really made it fit TF2 scout.
It's so much more fun than the Scattergun as it's not harder to aim, but DIFFERENT to aim, and unlike the Scattergun, has sustainable reliable damage rather than relying on burst damage.
@@alacan Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love all the unlockables and stuff in TF2, but just having a complete, pure TF2 experience is amazing. Until Valve updates regular TF2 or fixes the bots I'll probably just be playing TF2C for the foreseeable future.

I could be wrong, but I think the "Attention to detail" is how TF2 used to look before they scaled it back.
If not it's how it SHOULD'VE been.
Yeah those new 100 morbillion hats skins and effects were definitely worth it despite killing the performance and graphics for it later.

Tf2 has always had a lot of attention to detail. Stuff like the domination quotes and all the easter eggs thrown around show that. It's just that the game's existed for more than 14 years now, so it's expected that we take this stuff for granted (also, TF2 runs on frickin Source Engine and has to deal with a billion of cosmetics, different weapons, unusual effects and all that sort of stuff at once, so some visual concessions are bound to happen).
Theres lots of new details that wasn't in the 2007 game.

TF2C looks better because it uses an older version of tf2 before the graphics were downgraded to keep the engine from crashing with too many cosmetics

And to think the nailgun used to be even more crazy. It had a faster fire rate, and a 175% damage rampup just like the scattergun, but only had 20 round mag. Had a better TTK on light classes (as it didn't 'waste' a second shot with an overkill of 70+ like the scattergun does) and a lot of people called it op.
Nowadays, the scattergun does technically do overall more damage, especially with random spread disabled, but the nailgun is still a great skirmishing and harassment weapon with more versatility in your engagement range at the cost of less dps.
And yes, it is great against engie buildings. Scout is no longer bloody useless against them. If the engie places them in a way where you outrange the sentry gun, the nailgun can pick them off if the engie isn't attentive. Not the best, but it does at least work, just like the shortstop.
1:18 weapons that use magazines eject them when reloading and it can be seen on the ground, even coil gun.
I really wish this weapon made it in the final game, plus the demo man’s dynamite from the original trailer

Valve should hire the Tf2 classic team, it’s obvious they have more love for TF2 than Valve does.
They actually reached out to them, talked to them, then ghosted them, because well, they're valve.
This mod is great It makes me feel like I've been playing since launch when I've only played since 2018. It's also so cool to see myself in the video keep up the great content!

I'm so joyous that TF2C is back. I've been having a blast in the massive free for all clusterfuck that is 64 player custom weapon servers.
Local beta guy here! For those who don't know, The Nailgun was an actual weapon for the Scout, used from some times between the first and second trailers of the game and was likely used up until some point before the Meet the Heavy video (There's a scout that falls over in the original version of meet the heavy, but I can't actually tell what he's holding.)
The nailgun was removed because the team wanted to hone in on the Scout's function. Scout runs fast, shoots fast, kills fast, and dies fast, so having a dps weapon instead of a burst damage weapon for his primary wasn't incredibly well received in play testing. Obviously, now adays, if the scout were to have this as a side grade, it would probably be well received considering its utility value (I can also attest that it's an excellent sentry buster gun,) but back when there were singular weapons per each category, it didn't seem like a viable primary for the class.

The nail gun would be good for medic mains because of how functionally similar it is to the syringe guns.
it's a thing dating back to Quake, the syringe gun is basically Quake's Nailgun, the tf2c nailgun is basically the Super Nailgun.

That land mine launcher sounds like a weapon that should already exist, imagine you get 3 or 4 land mines that auto destruct and are large enough so the enemy has a chance, such a good idea that it actually upsets me that its not in the game
Just like with what happened when I tried toonhud, you should be able to use your custom voice pack in TF2C. Just copy it from the TF2 custom folder to the TF2C custom folder and it should work.
The Nailgun has made playing scout actually tolerable for me and I’m grateful for it. It’s so nice to be able to do actually decent damage beyond spitting distance.
I actually think you can put your voice mod of Scout in the game, i tried putting an mod once that there was only the Vanilla TF2 version and it worked fine, so i guess if you do the same it will work, and since i think there's no additional voicelines for Scout, there will not be such a big problem, might be wrong tho.

My biggest question to Valve is why they decided to downgrade the graphics instead of just adding options to change how much detail is included. TF2c looks like it's actually TF2 in 2022.
Like, there's nothing wrong with TF2's current graphics, it's the core gameplay that keeps it going, but TF2c's nicer ones is just a little cherry on top, y'know?

Let’s be real though, the nailgun is definitely stronger than the stock scattergun, because it has a very similar DPS but much more forgiving aiming.
Not really doing two quick hitscan 104 dmg is better than slowly hurting them with projectiles
On an average match with engies on the other side,where you play mostly as a solo roamer,yes.
If your team support you doing burst damage is better to cut clean chunks of hp.
The difference here is that the scattergun kills you before you even know what hit you, like a backstab. The nail gun gives a much bigger window of time to respond to the source of damage.
I haven't got the dps stats but it feels like if your aim consistently good the scattergun is usually better. Nailgun is still perfectly viable through.
