- Today, I'm trying out Pre-Fortress 2, and I have to say it's pretty darn good. It has alpha and beta features and maps brought to life, giving off some old classic vibes. It's the Team Fortress we never had.

Sadly for them we are stupid so we made battle medic anyways
Impossible, it's almost like the syringe gun is meant to suck
@@thunderspark1536 if the Madic's Primaries and melees had alt fire that did burst healing(primaries throw medium health packs with Sandvich stats, melees are injector syringes that have a plus 63% range 20% HP heal that overheals/gives extra health and press R to self heal) as a way to encourage healing since I would also give the alt fires plus 5% uber on heal.
Replacing it with Syringe gun didn't fix the problem but just made it worse. Instead of giving a terrible gun, how about this gun could ALSO heal people?
Now you have a range damage option that is still fills class's healing role even if the player forgets to press number 2.
Oh whats that? crossbow exist? its actually still a bad design: WHY ALL OTHER OPTIONS ARE SO GARBAGE EXCEPT THAT 1 OVERBUFFED UNLOCK? THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS.

Scramble teams was one of the features that the Meet Your Match update removed from us…
It's not that they removed it from us. But that they never added it in the first place. We had Quick-play which was basically Casual but for community-made servers. And some of them had Scramble teams.
@@damsen978 I've been playing since 2009. Valve servers used to allow calling a server wide vote to scramble teams.

If you ever play Team fortress classic you know how similar it is to this and that game is actually very fun with the team play, but am glad the original and the squeal are so different.
Tf2c is supose to be old tf2 with some new thing and pf2 is the game with some scrap features

It's a shitty grenade spam game. The bhopping makes classes like the Scout useless because a Heavy can go as fast as him. And most of the time you didn't know how a grenade killed you, even with good game sense.

I never felt scared from seeing a Medic with a Gun more than today.
I like how the second team killing is on it becomes the purge. Everyone kills everyone but the next match they act like nothing happend
There is so much in the Beta I wish they kept! But I definitely understand removing the grenades.
I think a lot of their changes are good such as removing the needle gun cause honestly it kinda dont work that good on scout also making pyro not a good removing armor cause all it did was add an extra unneeded number that some other class needed and not giving medic an smg so he has to heal people
@jknifgijdfui yeah pretty much all of the changes are justified, but maybe the concussion granades could make a cool secondary for scout.
finally! im so glad more people are covering this mod, it is one of if not my favorite tf2 fan project and i think it deserves alot more attention than it has.
the TF2 announcer is obviously awesome but I love the Pre-F2 one as well. Sounds so creepy and dystopian.

The idea of Scouts doing grenade jumps sounds terrifying. Imagine just minding your own business and than he just pops out of nowhere like a Hunter from Left 4 Dead.

that friendly fire when the match ends is such a fun concept idk why they didn't keep it in the game
We have the option to scramble teams, but Valve disabled it for their official servers for some unknown reason. If I remember right, the auto-balance system had something to do with it because the scramble teams vote got disabled during Meat your Match while they tried to balance for competitive. Makes it seem as if someone at Valve doesn't want people to continue playing the game or something...
Also, I thought Engineer wasn't supposed to be able to build LVL 3 buildings, but at the same time you can build a LVL 3 Sentry in TFC. For TF2, Engineer wasn't originally able to build past LVL 1 and wasn't able to pick up his buildings like the Eureka Effect had on its original release. Pyro wasn't able to air-blast (Pyro needed something as an alt-fire for his flame-thrower), Heavy didn't care about his weapons at all, and Medic had some of the same weapons as Scout. I (and most people would agree) am glad they added in the Medi-gun for Medic, but a little sad he lost his shotgun from TFC.
@@blubullie4850 Same, although something I will NOT miss is him giving the Infect status, which would be even worse with the Medigun.
This looks really cool! I wish Scout had Handgun dual-wielding (like in Fight For Sawmill SFM) at the cost of his secondary slot.
i feel like the Nail gun could've been neat for an Engi pistol replacement or something.

Maybe not for all classes, but imagine if you could light the gas residue of the gas passer and leave an area of flames for a couple of seconds

Having more multiclass weapons would be cool. If sniper scout and medic all used smg and shotgun got put on scout and maybe the bat could be used between scout and sniper

for some reason i love how the beta grenade launcher looks, it just looks way more realistic and satisfying
plus there are actual visible grenades in the 6 chambers, in normal tf2 they're literally just empty holes but demo somehow still fires grenades from them
this is one of the funnest source mods i've played so far
it's so good in fact, that it made playing medic enjoyable
TF2 was actually pretty much how it was at launch in 2006. I think this is closer to 2005 E3...

lots of what makes pre fortress 2 feel so unique is that is has a lot of features from early source games that tf2 missed out on, like the camera delaying a bit behind the viewmodel, the absoloutely absurd FOV options, like you can have 180 fov if so you choose in pre fortress 2, the very bare bones animations for the shotguns and sutff

I CANNOT believe, that I have been watching brickiest brick for like a year, and forgot to subscribe.
Pre fortress 2 is beta team fortress classic but no polygons
So I saw a video where medic has a poison grenade that heals allies. This can potentially turn the tide of a fight by itself. Weakening enemies and buffing Allie’s, giving them enough of an advantage to turn things around. I wish Valve had kept them in to an extent. Demo’s TNT might be too much of a hard counter for engineers and their sentries, though. And not enough of a counter for snipers. Sniper needs as many counters as he can get. Especially since he gets explosives here which is an extra layer of danger.

was anyone else having trouble getting pf2 downloaded? i looked up how to do it and tried other ways to fix it but it kept saying 15 bytes was missing.
They should have kept the different gadgets and grenades and many of the weapons

Pretty good though, I guess they removed the grenades for this reason lol, and armor just became the hp bar we knows today

TF2 actually does have an option to scramble teams over a vote and occasionally without a vote, but casual gameplay introduced in 2016 which replaced the ad-hoc quickplay option doesn't have that.
I hope they remake the TFC map "Rock2"...one of my favs!! Also will medic be able to infect the enemy team with his medpack??
if you like oldschool grenade jumping you can always go on a jump server and bind +conc to any key
Valve should really consider adding some of these items back into the game

Votescramble used to be in modern TF2. Was removed at some point lol. There was also auto team scramble if the game was clearly a wipe. Now that's all relegated to community servers that have it :(

This mod is never going to replace current TF2 but at least it makes me appreciate why Valve made the changes they did after Team Fortress Classic. It would have been a disaster if they made TF2 like this.
There are inconsistencies in this project too. The Scout's nailgun isn't supposed to reload, there's no bone in the 3D model of the gun's "magazine", so Valve never planned for it to be reloadable. And the 9 classes are supposed to be mute, only the screams because the voice acting wasn't done yet, so they used the screams from the Day of Defeat: Source soldiers.

I played a lot of Team Fortress Classic before playing TF2 for the first time in 2013 and from this gameplay, the 2006 version of the game is the perfect blend of the two games.
Overall, it's more enjoyable than Fortress Forever.
