This film in my opinion, perfectly illustrated how some wounds never really heal no matter how much time passes and Renner's character encapsulated those emotions of deep seeded grief beautifully. Wind River definitely hits different when you can relate to the overwhelming sadness that was depicted in it.
The other Taylor Sherriden scripted movie that came out round about this time is 'Hell or high water' with Ben Foster and Chris Pine. Also with Jeff Bridges.
Wow, you took on this movie! My respects. it is an excellent movie, if very hard to watch. It's also a very important movie to watch. Native American women disappear at an alarming rate.
Is there nothing that can be done like appealing to the authorities to start compiling missing person statistics for Native American women as well? ( I myself don't live in North America.)
I love this movie so much. It's not the easiest watch. But it's so well written and acted, with amazing cinematography. One of my favorite movies of the past decade, and the movie that really made me a life long fan of Elizabeth Olsen. "She ran 6 miles in the snow."😭
the summer before i saw this i was camping on wind river. woke up on a late july morning, my tent covered in snow. went home with altitude sickness. worth it. so beautiful. pinedale is a good town.
Military contractors higher ex-Navy seals army rangers that sort of stuff. When they’re not deployed overseas protecting oil, rigs or convoys, they get easy jobs in America so they have their kit and gear with them and they rest until their next deployment. Good job I’m picking this movie. A lot of people don’t and I don’t know why. It’s an an amazing film.
I live near the Wyoming state line with my state. I have spent a lot of time in Wyo. Beautiful country. Great people. But, having also lived in one of our bigger cities in the US I learned that predatory people are everywhere. In the wilderness they tend to go nuts and their true nature comes through.
This definitely is anice gritty little outing. And I think this is my favorite Taylor film because he not only wrote it, but I believe this was his directorial debut, if I’m not mistaken. All the characters are great and it really ratchets up the tension, especially in the third act:)
I remember going to free early showing of Wind River at the college, here on Arapaho wind river rez. Jeremy could of been there but the making a avengers movie at the time.
Wow, great movie to react to. I love Taylor Sheridan's material. Hell or High Water should be next. I think the original Sicario is my favorite movie of his. Yellowstone, of course, is really good, but most of his other TV series are even better. My favorite work of his is 1923.
Something I like about all of Taylor Sheridan’s work, specifically his more serious works like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River, and to a lesser extent Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone, they shed light on an American reality that is so often ignored by mainstream Hollywood and just media in general. The vast majority of the U.S. is just open landmass and wilderness, and film/tv often doesn’t really delve into the problems and issues facing these aspects of our society that are very real. In sicario’s case, it delves into the law enforcement and military aspect of that world, where Emily Blunt is essentially a normal FBI agent thrust into the brutal reality of the war against the cartels in the southwest. Violence isn’t just something the cartels engage in, but so do the “good” guys. She isn’t ready for the brutal reality that violence is simply a brutal reality, when fighting people who cut off heads and kill children there isn’t an easy “legal” and “by the books” way to go after them, and despite wanting to go after the cartels she doesn’t have what it takes. The social and cultural aspects shine in wind river, basically highlighting the brutal reality of life on reservations and even just the aspect of existing in a place like Wyoming. A similar situation to Sicario, Olson’s character is from a city FBI office in Florida, making a point to say how absurd it is that they have “6 county deputies to cover an area the size of Rhode Island” And how some people, like the villain Pete, can break and become scummy and evil simply out of boredom and exposure to the brutal emptiness of what the people on the reservations experience every day. It also sheds light on the very real issue of how badly native Americans were treated and how they live now. Hell or High Water explores the economic aspects of this reality, with the two main characters robbing banks to pay off their mother’s debt so they can keep her land and have a place to live. The 2007 housing crisis and recession didn’t just hit the suburbs and Wall Street, it hit places like that too and it exploded how people in that world react. Mayor of Kingstown goes a different route basically exploring America’s urban downfall in midwestern cities that end up being nothing but gangs and corruption and how everyone copes with living in a dying city away from places like LA and NYC. The city it’s set in is basically Detroit or Flint, Michigan, or Gary, Indiana. It shows just the degradation of society in forgotten cities that just have nothing but despair for so many people that can’t get out. Unfortunately this doesn’t really translate to his work like Yellowstone because that just feels more like a drama about rich people but instead of it being in the city it’s about modern ranching in Montana and the politics that go along with it. But it’s become so heavily factionalized that it just doesn’t hit like his other works.
Just a note too you. I live in NW Washington State Olympic National Forest, Washington State. I have game trail right next to my yard. In 5 days my game camera took 69 pictures of game. 34 black bears 5 black bear cubs deer coyotes raccoons mt lion with 2 cubs. Yeah, I live with mt lions too.
This movie is incredible. I know the subject is extremely difficult for women to watch especially the graphic rape scene, so I really commend you two for watching it. It is a very sad story but one that had to be told.
Its honestly tough to say which one of his movies i like best, theyre all so strong. I suppose hell or high water is the one of rewatched the most, simply because its the least heavy or stressful
I loved your reaction and think that it is very good that you help with your reaction to give transparency to what really happens in real life and there are thousands of news about it but it seems that no one cares Thanks and I hope more people watch this movie

25:13 Not true. If you were paying attention, her and her boyfriend were on good terms. Her boyfriend did not abuse her in that way. The reason the medical examiner said that was because the group of psychos that killed her boyfriend were the ones who caused that damage. There were multiple of them.
Multiple means more than 1. She had a romantic time with her boyfriend and one raped her before she was conscious. Hannah said that was why there was multiple found, she never said the boyfriend raped her. Our attention was very much on the film.
20:26 Yes, she does. But, she doesn't hardly have any backup except for Jeremy Renner with his Remington. 20:37 You gotta realize arguing like that isn't going to stop their bullets! She's basically a lone wolf.
I remember this movie, when hawkeye and scarlet witch did a movie with punisher 😂. Its the small town vibe of fargo etc. I liked this. The actress from twilight is here too. And we get a Olsen butt scene.
I love you're reaction! Soo interesting to watch😌🙏🏿🤗🤗🤗🤗 can you add in yore list this interesting films? 1. KICKS (2016) 2. Dope (2015) 3. Lone ranger (2013) 4. Barbershop 3 the next cut (2016) 5. White man can't jump 6. Get rich or die tryin 7. Den of thieves
None of the indigenous peoples were on their original lands when Europeans arrived. Tribes fought each other for centuries, some times to the point of genocide. One tribe pushed another tribe out of an area, and controlled that area until another tribe pushed them out themselves. This HAS been going on for centuries, but it's not just to hold the Europeans to a higher standard.

Is Kaylee not the most adorable character ever?
One movie you got to watch from the 90's is called "Thunderheart" pretty good movie too. Stars Val Kilmer and Graham Greene.
One of the most underrated movies of all time imo.
This is a really great film it really shows how good actors Elizabeth Olson and Jeremy Renner are.
Hell or High Water is another outstanding Taylor Sheridan movie.
@@strawdawgs78 my favorite movie right there.
Appreciated there was no romantic tension or subplot between the leads. Refreshing.
Great movie - should be much more known than it is. Thanks for the reaction.
"She ran six miles in the snow"
😭
"That's a warrior. That's a warrior" it makes my heart jerk every time.
I can't even last three miles...

The third stanza Hell or High Water is also excellent and is less heart wrenching so well worth you watching.
Ive seen both awesome movies
@@myoung7654 yes! It’s a little more cowboy and more comedic. Really loved it
The amount of feral rage that scene invokes. I would probably do things that would give me nightmares for years.

I love how after he died in anonymity and pain that Pete's body was just left on the mountain like trash.
A fitting end.
Served more of a purpose in death than life. At least in death some animal could feed on him.
This is a very underrated film, I'm glad you guys did a reaction to it, not a lot of people did.
Taylor Sheridan is a great writer! I strongly recommend another of his called Hell or High Water.

One of the greatest, most underrated standoff scenes in movie history. No exaggeration.
“End of Watch” with Jake gyllenhaal and Mike Peña one of the most underrated movies and I think you guys will love it
Mystic River is another great watch. Story, acting, directing.. moving and powerful. Well worth reacting to.
This movie is exquisite! One of the best movies of all time!!! I watch it couple times a year!
