there is an easier solution to line up the bolt, no need for ratchet straps, after removing the original skid plate and side plate , loosen up the bolts near the footpeg both left and right, (this is only useful if you do not have a centerstand installed because you have to remove the centerstand spring to loosen tension) after that you can easily line up the bolt to the subframe then tighten.
Thanks for the tip! I'll see if just loosening those bolts off and jiggling the bash plate a bit, before tightening them back up helps take the strain out and line up the bolts for next time.
Yeah I don't blame you, I would have got the b&b one but went too keenly on the order accessories page when preparing the bike. Although the cfmoto one seams to be pretty good so far.
I am still waiting on my cfmoto bash plate along with the rest of my pre ordered accessories that I ordered through the dealer once they were announced. Looking on Aliexpress, ordering through the dealer is cheaper. Looking out for decent hand guards and footpegs too. I have modified the left hand switch block with the turn signals so that the whole block is twisted down so the horn now sits lower and trimmed the horn button tip. I was accidently tooting the horn nearly after every time I pressed the signal return and brought my thumb back to the handle bar. At the same time I trimmed the high beam light switch as I was turning the high beam on reaching for the brake. This now brings ( for me anyway } the turn signal switch closer and more in line where my thumb can reach it. That turn switch still feels a bit too far over ( compared to other bikes ). I still hate how every bike I have had, the right hand switch block has a tab to stop it moving. But to fix this in place the handle bar is drilled out to fit the tab. But on nearly every bike I have owned I have moved the switch block up or down to better suit me. I removed the tab on the inside of the switch block ( it is plastic with a metal pin in the middle of it ) and just put some gaffer tape under the switch block to give it something to grip onto. This has always worked for me.
Just an editing suggestion, dial the music volume down. I've got the volume up to hear you talk but then get blasted by the music. Otherwise great vids so far, doing everything I'm thinking I'd do. Are you going to replace the the handguards? They seem a little on the flimsy side
Noted! I'm giving it some time for some aftermarket hand guards but no doubt will upgrade them. Realistically the stock ones are pretty solid but I would imagine they would crack when I drop the bike for the first time.
you the 4th person i know who has ha this issue with the heavy duty bash plate not lining up correctly. im waiting for th B&B unit to come out as i will support local everytime.
Yeah if I didn't add it to the accessories at preorder I would have got the b&b one for sure. I'll probably get a radguard radiator guard at some point so that's good.
One of the things I love most about aluminum.. you can take the next size drill bit and open up the tolerance buy .5-1 millimeter everywhere and the problem is normally solved.. but w twins most have the oil filter on the front.. so like on KTM, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha.. the skid plate needs to be removed every @2000-2800 miles..I personally am not going through some contortionist circus act every few weeks for the oil change!! I am currently dropping oil every 5-6 weeks.
Hi, thanks for the vid! I have two questions: 1. Don't you think the bashplate is a liitle short to properly protect the pipes? 2. What have you lubricate the bolts with?
3. It's to protect the engine so it's good for what it is made for. Pipes can get dented and the bike is still ridable, but the engine case can not, it would loose oil or damage the internals. 4. That is not lubricant, it's loc tite. It stops the bolts undoing themselves due to vibration.
Hello. The cover is perfect. I envy your bike. What about the engine power. Is it sufficient? Will you be adding other accessories such as stronger blasters? And suitcases or bags for travel?👆👍👌💯
The power is sufficient so far. Power wise it's a 450 but it's still peppy until 120km. Max about 140km top speed. I'll be adding crash bars upper and lower plus the rear saddle bag/crash bars.
I dont think I would loctite them. I did not see a hole in the bottom for your drain bolt. So you will need to remove that skid plate often. Unless you take it off and install/drill the hole that should have been already in it for the drain plug
You need to remove the bash plate to take out the oil filter. So no point having a sump plug hole in the design. It's a 450 cc engine so it revs high so better to loc tite the bolts in than loose them in the bush.
Well presented! You’re a bit of a funny dude! Clever. Interestingly the branded version didn’t really fit that well without persuasion. Will it be an issue when removing it to change oil & filter? Time will tell because you’ll make a quality video about it👌 Cheers
Thanks for watching, Steve. I hope it's easier now it's fitted but honestly I don't think it really needs those middle bolts, worst case a zip tie probably would work just as well, so only time will tell.

Chinese parts don't go together quite as good as Swedish IKEA parts 😅 Great you figured it out. P.S. I van hear someone saying "Who put this metal thing in the oven!?"
The cfmoto ones are designed to fit with the bash plate. I think the lower bars mount in two of the bolts on the bash plate (not 100 percent sure). The top bars mount where the plastic is.
The dealers problem. But now that I've found the easy way to put it on there it would only take a few extra minutes to take off and put back on after the oils and filter change.
Yes u believe they can be. I've got them on order so will install them once I get them. The cfmoto accessories page has a photo of them installed with the bash plate on.
@@outie555 I'm afraid that with your new engine protection shoe, the lower crash bar would not have enough space!!! If you can make a video that would be great because I too will receive the 450 mt😀

Hanging out for the B&B bash plate currently in development. Looks great and more protection around the cases etc.

Looks awesome mate, and well done on the installation!
Thanks
Unfortuatly this can happen stuff not lining up but think of the soluition not the problem! Well done outie.
Off camera I tried different approaches to no avail until the ratchet straps came out.
Nice ! Not sure lower crash bars can be installed with this model of plate but a better engine protection is a « must have » to do some off road
The cfmoto lower crash bars are compatible with the cfmoto bash plate. I should get them soon and try fitting them.
@@outie555 ah cool, I though this plate model was not the CFmoto one !
can you make a installation video on side pannier brackets and crashguard?
Absolutely, but still waiting for them to arrive at the dealership. Hopefully they will come soon
Will be waiting for that too

same on my crf, had to grind it and just put rubber so it's not moving with the new bar I installed.
Great tip and I'm sure people changing the bars will need to drill it or work around it.

That's a lot of oil. I'm getting the dealership to do the serving so the warranty extends to 3 years.
Really nice. Did you order the bashplat through the CF MOTO dealer, or did you get it elsewaee?
Yes I did, from cfmoto during the preorder on their 450 microsite in Australia.

mine came in without the actual paper manual, any chance you could post it?
Your dealer should be able to help you. But try online to download a .pdf electronic copy.
Compared to the original bashplate, won't this make oil changes more difficult?
Both need to be removed to change the oil. It's a 2 minute job to take off and 4 minutes to put back on.

Most things from IKEA are made in china. Oh crap it's still in the oven! It's so thin it's like a baking tray.
Mate where do the engine guards attach to?
The cfmoto ones are designed to fit with the bash plate. I think the lower bars mount in two of the bolts on the bash plate (not 100 percent sure). The top bars mount where the plastic is.
You got plan for the exhaust?
Not at this stage but I am keen to just take the muffler off to hear what it sounds like. But will put the muffler back on as it will be too loud.
is that the cfmoto one? how much?ª
Yes it is the cfmoto one from cfmoto. $349.95 AUD.
👌👌👌👍
🔥
imagine having to do that again when it's time for an oil change, too cumbersome

Actually wielded by a machine in the factory.

yes you can install both there is enough clearance , the problem is when you add in the future an engine cover protector
it will fit if it's the oems. cfmoto already thought mounting points over this bike and aftermarket accessories already catching up.
