What you just experience is arguably one of if not the biggest furball in all of flight arcade game EVER like I've been playing Ace Combat my whole life but this furball is crank it up to 11!
6:22 I love how even the enemy is mad at this. Like, they already sent everything but the crop dusters from the local forces, and they are STILL sending more.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you can only bring AG weapons for a certain slot in an Air-to-Air mission, always take gunpods. They're extra gun ammo and firepower for dogfights. Also, the 'sad music' in Clear Skies- watch out for it. It's a pretty prominent motif!
@@Phrosphor the composer is named Jose Pavli, fantastic work he did indeed. He’s pretty active online so send him some love when you finish the game!! PS. I would strongly advise not to look him up or any project wingman related things online until you beat the game. Its very spoiler heavy! Well done on this mission as well, was incredibly fun to see you succeed in it!
Cold War is my favorite mission. I usually go with the F-14, can load it up with two slots of MLAA and just blitz in and out of the groups with one slot of SAA for long range shots.
It was a blast, some of the most fun I have had in a video game ever. So happy I got to experience it. I never would have played this game without the community asking me to.
It cracks me up that you were worried about ammo because as long as you stay around your teammates, your allies will EVENTUALLY take out everyone. I did a pacifist run that took something stupid like 40 hours to complete. There are only 5 out of the 21 missions that you need to use your weapons on. On this mission, it takes 30-50 minutes depending on a number of factors and this is one of the shortest levels.
A little Detail, which i find really interessting, is that evreone talks about Monarch as "The Guy with the Crown". But, if look Really carefully, you see that Monarchs Emblem is a Butterfly. Which is oh so more Funny (or sad) if you think about it
I believe the STDM's in PW are rear-aspect, which means your best chance to hit with them is from behind or just before making a head-on pass. Either that, or lead your missile launches. For dogfights, try keeping the enemy in your sights (there's a dedicated button to automatically track your target) and don't be afraid to switch targets if an opportunity presents itself. You can also turn the opposite way, or distance yourself and re-engage that way. Even with the simple flight model, quite a few real life tactics are viable.
Had a couple of people point this out to me. I had sort of worked it out but not fully. You should see tighter missile discipline from me going forward.
You should have saved your money. After the next mission, you unlock the final batch of planes (excluding post game super-aircraft) They're all very powerful, but also very expensive. I personally recommend the cooler f15 (especially since you aren't using mouse/ keyboard) and the chimera (better frogfoot). The chimera's a2a capabilities greatly benefit from AOA and gunpods. in conquest mode, it also gets some "special" weapons. Also, based on unlocks and learning curve, the next mission probably has one of the more challenging fights in the game. And a bit of foreshadowing (if you pay attention). Good luck!
The VX-23 is actually kind of a hybrid design based on various 7th-generation fighters. The one it most resembles is the Chengdu J-20, but it's named after the YF-23 prototype and it shares some similarities with the F-22 as well.
Originally, it _was_ the F-22. It's believed that someone threw a hissy fit, causing the one-man dev team to change its design to avoid copyright issues.
I went with the F-14 on this mission. It can load 12 MLAAs per volley, with a huge reserve. F-14 is the best for speedy slashing attacks, blowing through the furball and coming back at top speed.
I had a ton of people commenting that it was really sad that I was missing out on Prez because I kept picking single seaters so I installed a mod that added her to every mission so I wouldn't miss out.
@@CounterfeitDuck Essentially, yes. The AOA limiter pauses your movement vector, you rotate, then it instantaneously adjusts that vector to your new heading, making the aircraft undergo impossible G-forces in the process. IRL you would also need impossibly strong engines to pull that stuff off.

It was one of the coolest video game experiences I have had. Absolutely epic.
I actually counted, a couple of the missions in AC7 have as many planes but the trails make the furball seem bigger
@@simonbarabash2151 like what? 19 and SP1?
Congrats. You're an Ace ten times over from one mission alone.
Hahaha, thanks!

The radio chatter in this mission is top tier. It's such a disaster of an operation and both sides can't believe what they are doing.
The music in this mission alone makes it a goddamn experience. You truly feel the action here.
Pleasure watching boss
Im not far off doing it again on Merc mode, on stream, it's going to be a wild ride.
@@Phrosphor oh shit really? Send me that stream brother I'd be happy to watch

I am already catching a couple of recurring motifs in the sound track. This is a fantastic sound track, one of the best!

What an amazing mission, I can see myself loading it up for some fun long after I have finished the game.
Touhou Plane + Mercenary Difficulty + Double Time = True test of Ace.
Try it in solo or next playthrough Phros, you won't be disappointed.
I need to give it a go. Set a timer on how long I last.
"Ive got 127 missiles left, i gotta start preserving ammo" 🤣
Well, you never know what is being thrown at you next.

"Don't talk, just fight."? Interesting.
Fantastic job Phros. Thanks for playing this

holy shit this made me proud and patriotic for a country that doesn't even exist
The writing in this game isn't the best, but the way it is presented is fantastic. I felt exactly the same way when I was fighting this!
Just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. Really enjoying them
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching them!

my favorite mission in any video game ever
Everybody gangsta til the fog of war starts throatsinging
Does anyone know which track from the OST this is? it slaps
Showdown- Jose Pavil

It's the most "anime" of the tracks in the game. I could hear it playing over a Macross dogfight. Probably my favourite track next to Kings.
this is the second recording of this mission where the first half cuts off on showdown at the best possible moment

AOA limiter. Complete and utter bull but since G-force damage isn't a thing there are no consequences to it.

They went after Comic? How dare they try and mess with Monarch's best bud!?
I guess if you have to dance with Hitman team you tag anyone but Monarch. Still didn't work out for them.
I almost run out of all ammo on this one 😂
And fighting against limiter off planes is a different esperancie.
Ammo is a real concern! And yeah, cheats! I got them though!
On mercenary difficulty it’s insane.
I need to try it, I think I need to complete the game on hard to unlock it first though.
