Watching it back they lay it out so brutally. The ground forces facing no resistance The remaining defenders only being Cascadian The Fed's pulling out all their VIP's and then cancelling all civilian flights. They had this planned for awhile.
As far as I can remember ring of fire refers to ring of vulcanos that goes all around pacific. If those would go off we get civilization ending event I think. In this game universe federation started second calamity event with cordium weapon use. First one reshaped continents, ended nations and pushed back humanity few centuries back in tech.
You are correct the first calamity is something akin to super volcano eruptions but it the entire ring of fire going up. The second one happen because the cordium in the ground interact with the use of the warhead and cause the whole thing to ignite.
The absolute hopelessness of this mission just after those cruise missiles start comming and hitting. Live it. Possibly second best mission of the game. Welcome to Cordium weaponry. Orange will rule.
This is more or less a nuclear carpet bombing of a city still full of civilians. The Federation may have had Moral Superiority for a little bit during the Magadan Invasion, but they lost all of that the second they launched those missiles
Seeing them fly overhead while you are dogfighting Faust in Frontline 59 is absolutely Chilling when you know where they are going and what happens next.
I don't know if you've noticed, but at one point, the Independence Force occupied parts of Magadan. I love how such a massive event is brought in and concluded without a single word mentioning it.
You know, it’s pretty rad seeing someone go blind into this-given that Max0r’s vid sold me on the game. It also pretty much spoiled the plot, but the moment still sent chills to me.

But I’m Project Wingman, war is fucking Orange.” -Max0r, incorrect summary of Project Wingman, on “Consequences of Power”
I had such a good time with this game. I actually had Max0r's video linked to me in discord by my community but was told to stop at the spoilers and it sold me on having a go. And that soundtrack. I still listen to King's occasionally.
I love how they don't make any explicit statements about it, but make it clear that the cordium missiles are basically nukes but a trillion times worse.
The first time I played that mission I really though I could get them all. I was so confident. But then they just kept landing and I remember being so shocked that all I could do was watch as a dozen missiles killed every soldier and civilian down there
12:10 There's palpable grief and guilt in your voice right there, and I don't blame you. That's when all the dread radio chatter was building starts to come home to roost, and it hits _hard_.
Increase your First-Person FOV in the gameplay options (it's not under video for some reason)! And hold down the targeting button to make your camera track your target.
im obviously liking the series to this point, but at some point you're going to realize 1) things are out-turning you and getting overshot because you only mash the throttle, even when not using the limiter, you have brakes for a reason 2) every missile you've ever shot at something flying perpendicular to you will miss, thats why you have guns and you will then feel The Zen Of Ace Combat Games flow through you.
Thank you for taking the time to point this out. I am not a flight sim person so I do tend to have some really bad habits. Hopefully you will see my flying improve a little going forward.
@@Phrosphor totally! Please do not mistake my criticism for backseat gaming or meanness/grossness. It has been a real pleasure seeing you discover this weird genre of arcade game totally fresh and blind. In a real flight sim, if you accelerated into a turn like that (hypothetically, because you really cannot IRL for physics reasons) you'd pass out in the cockpit and crash. If anything it's the game-y ness of the game that makes Dogfight Math in the Ace Combat games odd. When you have 150 missiles under your wing, the impulse to shoot missiles is very understandable 🤪
to use AOA you need to pull the throttle back and pull high G turn if you get good at it you can literally turn on a diam. I've heard it work best with controller I play on mouse & keyboard so I didn't use it.

Good catch, thanks for the info!
I think this is the most Horrifying thing you can hear on the comms, when your enemy try to warn you of an imminent danger.

I felt really helpless, each detonation made me flinch. This mission was brutal and it really hit me hard in the gut.
You would never expect a arcade flight game to portray the apocalypse
I don't what I expected when I sat down to this game but it certainly wasn't this.
Competitive genocide begins
0o
After Frontline-59, now we also know that Cascadia basically starved Oceania into submission
So yes, competitive genocide

Really shows that a much larger conflict is going on around the engagements Hitman are involved in.
With the new dlc on psvr2, we now know why that is
The new dlc😰
Note how the mission said over, not complete.
