I like how he was a little more silly in this video. I like to think he was considering the mood the viewers would be in while watching and is trying to cheer them up a bit.

I got clinical depression after realizing dark things under the rug in my family, despite trying to conquer it it’s made me lose years of workforce experience. So it’s a perpetual spiral loop.
Happy to listen to the video and fish for counter depression ideas - hacks.

I’ve had a similar situation in a few ways. It feels like cycles of good, then backward again. We’ve got this. As long as we keep educating ourselves and searching for answers, even with baby steps, it will get better. 😊

If you feel numb inside and cannot manage to do simple tasks a tip that helped me is to really try to appreciate the small things, so for example when having a drink, smell it, inhale it, and think wow I’m lucky I can have this nice drink.
You need to train your brain to enjoy life again. Keep a depression diary and note down any things you did. Did you brush your teeth, win. Did you make your bed, win. Keeping a log proves you are making progress. You will likely need a lot more sleep than you would otherwise need, due to the mental drain of the struggle.
When going through depression everything around you is just dead you will feel dead inside you will not have your usual personailty. Your usual personality could be happy and outgoing fun and extroverted, not when depressed. You will be the opposite. If you’re normally an introvert you will hate being so alone when depressed are no longer happy in your own company.
Depression is, what I describe as : the literal devil ripping out your soul. You are so completely lost when suffering with depression. If it’s serious you will not be able to get out of bed, basic tasks become impossible, get help before it escalates to that level. There is high suicide rates because of depression because when it gets too much of endlessly feeling dead then, yeh, people take their lives. If you have any suicidal thoughts please express this to your doctor. There is a massive difference from feeling a bit shit or having a bad week to where your body and mind is giving up on you.
Depression in general has become a word thrown around with little understanding and it is a cruel cruel thing to go through. If someone is struggling please be supportive and encourage they talk to their doctor. If you notice your friend does not enjoy or engage with their usual passions or things they love and they cannot understand or tell you why, it is likely because depression has numbed them from it. Depression will make you numb to everything so you don’t find enjoyment in anything. There is a lot of fake smiling and masking because the sufferer doesn’t want to put stress to their family and friends. So be on The look out for drastic changes in someone.

This. Pushing through the numb is hard. Just when you have gotten to a point when you made laying in bed numb a routine has been hard to break back out. The thoughts are just that it’s pointless and idk what to do or I don’t care.

    • @HowieRaps
      @HowieRaps 19 днів тому +2

How do u stay pushing through it? I pushed through it for years and now I'm borderline emotionless. I'm grateful for a lot and try to be happy but there's things I've gone through in life that I can't happily accept happened, and idk what to do. Almost feels like me not being depressed would be the psychotic thing to do

Feeling behind in life is so common, millions probably billions of people feel like that including me, we're so focused on the future and find it hard to enjoy what already is. life is much more than being here or there, fot the most part it happens in the in between basically. You're alive, you're here, working on yourself, you've probably already come a long way and you're still on it :) I wish you all the self acceptance and love and hope you celebrate every single one of your wins, my friend!
(I hope this doesn't come off as preachy, your comment just spoke to me, because I need to remind myself regularly to not feel behind, I just am were I am and moving forward gracefully as many of us are and I'm sure you are, too)

I agree, sometimes the advice we give is the one we need to take the most. It's quite easy to lose perspective and always look for the negative things, reminding ourselves of the things we have achieved and are doing is very important.
Best of luck to you too friend!

" prefrontal cortex is the part of your brain which helps you make decisions and plan higher level thinking but when you're anxious your prefrontal cortex is too bogged down by things that are " irrelevant " like .... etc "
    and
"When we burden ourselves by trying to make the best decision we just feel stressed because there's no way ..... etc"

Fantastic information. I'd come to it (the CEO of self stuff) myself through absolute rock bottom anxiety...and could hold it for some time (months)but then the scare-doubt snuck back in. It was an amazing experience of my life though - to step up like that and feel the quality bliss. This info is a goldmine here.. something to watch over and over..take notes. Love the quirky delivery -brains and character -def inspired & subbing :) :)

    meditation.
there are many, but zen meditation is my way to rewire.
Meditation helps me, and solving depression is only one thing it does for me.
    meditation spirals me out.
more I practice it more it works.

I was sceptical but this was genuinely really nice and non-judgemental advice. I do admit I skipped the human biology segment because I think I've covered that pretty comprehensively in CBT. Really appreciate the kind, thoughtful advice though, and your gentle delivery was really soothing. 👌

I love to hear people’s different perspectives on this topic because when depression is conquered you’ve conquered the ability of self control and discipline. On my own channel I have a video similar to this explaining my own perspective on how to get over depression, check it out if you’re interested

@@G6gotme you only know for sure what you have experienced, everything else has been taught to you by a class, a book, etc. I have personally observed that we all have been deceived, and most can't comprehend that. My science teacher believed the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second, but if you look into how they measure this, I'm convinced, we have no idea how fast light travels. Same with the brain, body, life.
I was convinced academia knew everything. I believe my blinding confidence/ ego lifted when I admitted that , Just maybe I have been deceived... Also never submit to believing you only use 10% of your brain !
