I feel as if everyone thinks Phil was the cuter one. My sisters and I all think that Don was more handsome. His deep soothing baritone voice, and all that HAIR. 🥰
Many years ago, the Everly Brothers were asked about their tv appearances and they both said that Perry Como was the only host who treated them with respect and welcomed them.
Heard that to
I am cool
Tennessee Ernie Ford seemed to have a blast with the EVERLY BROS on his show.
I know they were great friends with Johnny Cash as well
Phil was beyond cute in this clip.
Phil is my favorite..but I love them both..
He always was Ro Min!!! Lol 😂. ❣️
Idk how you can tell the words were in his face the whole time
They were so handsome no wonder girl's were screaming.
If i were there I would be doing the same thing..... To bad I wasn't born yet.
Omg, they were so popular! I love them and I wish I was one of those girls screaming!!
I have always loved this slight tango-flavored version of Wake Up Little Susie. One underrated aspect of the Everlys, especially as they got into the mid-60s, is that they tried to find different approaches to their songs. You can look up, for example, Susie and hear many different versions between 1958 and 1971, or look up Bye Bye Love and hear the same thing.

so called "artists" of today need to do nothing more than to look to the Everly brothers to see what class and true talent look and sound like, sadly, I know of no one who can even come close in either aspect.
I was in the first grade when wake up little Susie was out. I remember on the way to school one morning that was playing on the car radio. I couldn't understand the song. Why would their friends say ooh la la. The innocent days of childhood. This was always my favorite everly brothers song.
Loved this!! They were so young then. You could tell at the end when Phil giggled at something Perry said...so adorable!!! Phil got a kick out of the girls screaming and he showed it with his grin and his eyes! Beautiful harmony!!!
those two would still be beautiful, with or without hair!
So young but absolutely brilliant
My goodness with their great voices they also had great hair ... damn

: Lovely rendition of "Dream". So glad that this video still exists! The Everlys at their best.
Phil was looking at the right camera ever time it switched Donald just posted attention the middle camera
I'm told I liked them and Buddy Holly then. I was 1old in March that year. I guess I was born with good musical taste. Ir just when music started
So cute!
bless them .so sweet
Don’s soft deep voice …..oh wow 😍😍😍😍😍
The Everly Brothers were terrific and looked great Perry Como was more like Perry Coma.
LOL
so sweet!
Wonderful to see and listen to
Sometimes i will sing this song vedeoke ( Everly brother's
Don was so so skinny!! I can't help but worry about his health then just watching this.
did he eat too much?
Great
So adorable, these two. But the watermark certainly isn't. 😂
Sometimes i sing this song platters teams (Dream dream )
Who gave Don permission to do that little riff at the end of “Susie” and Phil’s little “ohh la la” dance? Who?! I always seem to come back to this clip when I’m feeling nostalgic for a time I was bore 30 years after.
I honestly don't think that Perry Como was shaking his head at The Everly Brothers. I think someone called him over. I noticed that Phil glance upwards just before he walked behind them. Phil sure was cute!!!!
@@kathrynkathryn4836 I totally saw that too!! Don't tell Don but he is my favorite :)
@@kathrynkathryn4836 Yes he was! Phil is my favorite. May he rest in peace.
I loved them both, but Phil was my favorite too!!!

I would have been screaming to
Perry Como was incredibly rude to walk behind them while they were on camera singing Wake Up Little Susie. But keeping a thick head of hair all your life is my idea of getting revenge! Did anyone else think he might have been a little jealous of them?
Jill Teresa - I don't think it even occurred to him that he was walking behind them. He may have been called over and responded w/o thinking. He had hair when he died, as did Phil, and Don still has it. But people like Bobby Rydell and Paul Anka did experience thinning.
Yeah he was jealous of the Everly Brothers! Lol 😂 and they never went bald! Good for them! 🎭🇺🇸
I was just turning a year old
Interesting that Perry made the "screaming" comment since he was once a star with screaming girls. Maybe not as badly as Frank's fans screamed but the girls even screamed for Bing.

i’m looking for the rest of this episode... anyone have it or seen it around?
I feel like perry embarrassed don and Phil when he told the crowd to stop screaming. I don’t think it’s bad - I would have been doing the same thing
Noch so blutjung und noch nicht so erfolgsverwöhnt.
Später konnte man sehen, dass sie sich schon nicht mehr so verbeugt haben wie früher.😮
und so freundlich waren sie später auch nicht mehr dabei.
no no no with hair!
My reputation is shot. Wake up little suzie. It's time to go home

Phil and Don were good sports to Perry’s ribbing.
Rock and Roll was still new in the late fifties and people thought it was a fad. Which may attribute to Perry’s irreverent treatment to Phil and Don.
That said, looking at this 60 plus years later, I think Perry does come off poorly and a bit mean spirited with the deliberate walk on during Wake Up Little Susie. Which is unfortunate.
He was just having fun with them and those screaming girls...don't take it too seriously.
Geez, Perry Como was downright contemptuous
You are right. The Everlys were on the forefront of rock and roll along with Chuck Berry and Elvis. Perry Como with his dull, sleepy music, was on his way out. He was afraid of the Everlys.
@@geraldinefields1730 Nonsense. On his way out in 1959? He had a number of hits all the way to 1973. And considering that his first hit was in 1945, that isn't bad.
Don looked very thin and a little sad. He looked the half of his brother ... I think he had personal problems
no he didn't it was Phil who had problems with drugs etc Don's look is natural and like mine
Don did have some problems later on in life and tried to commit suicide
@@mar-ew8fi no, really? That's so sad
Soledad Crivelli it really is😔 your a true person for noticing
nevermind i'm an idiot it was the opposite
Everly brothers sang beautifully..Perry Como was boring
TRUTH
Never lost their beautiful hair..or their beautiful voices..😚
REMOVE THE DARN HEADERS...WANT TO SEE THE SINGERS...
The Everly Brothers were terrific and looked great Perry Como was more like Perry Coma.
