Just more reasons HMMWV should not be in Civilians hands and on the road with the rest of us! The military did not specify the DOT/FMVSS requirements that all Civilian HUMMERs have.
Just remember, the military is not required for ANY of their vehicles to pass basically highway crash tests. That is why they are ALL death traps in even a moderate crash or rollover. A ballistic helmet will not save you when the engine block smashes you in the face or the steering column impales your chest. These vehicles are death traps. JLTV is just as bad. No airbags, no backup cameras, no padding on steel edges, comms equipment inches from your face.
So you mean to tell me if you add tons of steel plate and square tubing to something that only had aluminum to big in with it does better In a roll over. Well shoot better give you guys the engineer of the year award
The Humvee is the M998 which is what is in the video and what the original poster was saying was 9000lbs.. A standard military humvee only weighed in at 5200-5300lbs.. with a carrying weight of 2500lbs.. giving the Max Gross weight of 7700lbs it it were fully loaded to limits.. @@richardwilliams8248 actually they're pretty expensive because they're aluminum. Aluminum is more difficult to weld together unlike steel and won't rust which will give them more life. A roll cage is definitely needed though. Stainless steel would work but will still be more expensive than aluminum or galvanized steel. Depends on the quality and grade of metal used but usually I think they build most military equipment for the lowest bidder.
It is no wonder so many military personnel got injured or died behind the wheel of one of these things, they are complete and utter deathtraps, I believe a civilian hummer would be so much safer because of having to comply with NHTSA rollover regulations. It's sad to watch really...
@@redstoyotarunnerwithstri-hp9gm Jeep still made vehicles that could carry troops. For anything that needs armor weight, the Hummer was good for that. But just for carrying troops without needing armor a Jeep with a roll cage would be a much better option.
Not really a fair example of the Humvee rolling over. at 0:15 you can see the flipper extended out to roll the vehicle over for the test. However, in real life the truck would not have even rolled over to begin with. So sure, if you roll it it's going to fall apart....but you have to actually roll it first and these trucks are VERY difficult to roll.
U can have a seat extend out at a push of a button and convert into a Nascar racing seat and haans device helps during roll overs hard to explain it online need to do it in person but improving humvee safety is simple build a seat that's flat and has things extend out and become a Nascar race seat when ur in a dangerous situation or want more safety u can push that button and have less visibility than usual less comfort but more safety. Basically a normal seat with built in letter c extension conversion into a Nascar type seat that holds shoulders in place and head in place during roll overs instead of having head and shoulders side to side they're limited to being tossed tiny little bit side to side. Basically a regular car seat that transforms into a Nascar style seat with a push of a button easy to make this is murica I don't mind giving ideas to us military but send $ I send ideas ain't wasting time 4 free
Can I ask.. Why didn't they go to Home Depot and pick up some helpers? Real life results immediately and no worries about any casualties. Those that survived.. Brush them off and send them on their way with $50 in their pocket. The ones who didn't.. Crows gotta eat too.
What a dangerous piece of shit. Even with the rops theirs no padding on the inside so the odds are instead of potentially being ejected to safety, you’ll be beat to death inside of it. And I just don’t see a “brain bucket” being adequate. Thank God the military is moving away from this design.

Exactly, like what? Military grade?

That is why military requires you to wear brain buckets and seat belts although no one necessary complies with it.
That way you can survive the crash with no arms or legs because they got thrown and torn out of the vehicle. Nice.

Wtf!!!
I thought these cars were like rocks, but I see they are like crushed cans
Mientras más rígido más inseguro ya que no absorben el impacto so lo se deforman
Ok I’m an armoured humvee driver and now I’m terrifying
Now add 4 soldiers, ammo cans, 3 M4's, a 249 or 240B, box of MREs, all that shit flying around will fucking hurt

It's a 9000 pound vehicle with an aluminum body and no roll cage. What did you expect the out come was going to be?
my dad almost did but in a tank steep ass hill
M998A1 has a curb weight of 5380 lbs.
