I use hydraulic cement a lot professionally and this was a very clear and correct tutorial on how to mix and install it.👍👍👍
Does hydraulic cement work good for a leaky basement?
@@stevebruner7473 only if it is a decent size void. You can’t just use it to “coat the wall.”Sealing a basement from the inside can cause a lot of damage unless it is leaking in only a couple of spots. Hydraulic cement works by expanding a little as it dries so you have to be able to pack it in. It is most useful for damming slowly running water ,not as effective on slow seepage( though it can work for seepage in certain situations. But again if areas of your wall are damp, with no visible racks or voids it is generally a bad idea to seal it from the inside with ANY waterproof coating.
Well done. It sure is cheaper than the $7,500 I spent to have my outside wall dug out and filled with your product, then pitch over the wall, then a rubber membrane screwed to the wall then backfilled. I could have saved time and money while enjoying a cup of tea.

Yeah, you made the right call having a dig down. This guy and his method will not address the main problem of water coming into the wall itself and continuing to do damage. The only thing it will stop is water coming in, for a very short time. And don't even get me started on those indoor foundation repair goofballs. Those hacks would have probably charged you double for their cockamamie encapsulation system 🙄

French drain would need to very deep to take pressure off wall down low. French drain up high is worthless

Had to laugh at the croc hate - I too hate them but alas, recieved a pair as a groomsman gift and now I'm a self-hating croc wearer - don't knock em till you try em (indoors only, cant be caught in em!)

I love your videos💗. My biggest pet peeve is when you ask a waiter or store clerk to get you something and they say “I’ll do that right now” while they are actively doing something else. I would much prefer the phrase ”I’ll get to it as soon as I can “. I don’t mind waiting but I really hate being lied to.

Cool! I will buy this. My basement leaks because the water table in this area is high. Water seeps in slowly. I use 3 dehumidifiers to Nero the basement dry. This is cheaper than digging outside.
If you do that then you still have water coming in and causing foundation damage. Just get the outside dig down done whenever you can afford it. Once you seal the water in the rate of damage will increase by a lot. Also don't be scammed by those indoor foundation repair goofballs with their cockamamie encapsulation system. It's all bad. 9 times out of 10 your drain tiles are fine so it is usually just an outer wall seal. Don't try to build up the grade or extend the downspouts or pour concrete, none of that will work. Just do it right or don't do it at all. Take it from a real professional
@@andrewbatts7678 , yes, I’m having a structural engineer come over to write a foundation report. He has helped me in the past with other properties in determining the type of repair based on load bearing wall or retainer wall.

Did this with a product called Zypex decade or two ago. Works a treat. Magical stuff. In our case it was a more permanent fix because the issue was a hole in the wall created by a small piece of scrap wood that somehow got into it when it was poured. The wood rotted out over the years and left a nice 3/4" square hole right through the wall. Drainage was OK and the hole was pretty high up but when the ground was wet it leaked in.
1) Driving is not natural at all though. Eating! Eating is the thing next to as easy as breathing and after several decades I still bite my tongue so.... 2) People coming at you with the wipers on high when you're driving in the mist probably just drove through the rain squall you're following or will just miss. They're focused on the road and not the windshield. Don't judge. But some people are really absent minded drivers for sure. 3) Crocks are sinfully ugly but, apparently very comfortable. It's ok to hate things. 4) I hear you about the sarcastic reverse hyperbolae. But like the word 'sick' as in "That hydraulic cement trick is sick dude!" it'll become accepted usage soon I imagine. English evolves. Gotta keep up. But we have to fight to the death to prevent "Me and..." Damn that's just .. wrong!

I had to fix my basement wall and did the inside first, didn't stop the water. Had to dig outside and do that as well and then put tar on the wall where I patched. Stopped it 100%
My basement leaks along the mortar between those blocks. Will this still work???

Going to try this in my basment i dont have a sump pump instead someone put conduit on the ground about an inch away from the wall essentially making a canal and when it fills up i have to shop vac it 😅
Would it be a bad thing to wedge that trowel or any flat surface against the wall while waiting for it to dry? I was envisioning just packing all the high spots in as much as I could and then not have to stay holding it in place for so long...curious about this product....

Would this work along the seam of a block wall and a sidewalk. There is a crack between the two that I have tried to seal with caulk and in other ways but still have s few areas that leak a little.

What if we have done cracks not as big as a hole literally a crack but it seeps enough that I get water if it rain pours for two days straight thanks for all your videos I just subscribed. I will definitely watch all your videos I never worked with cement or concrete but I have a few projects that I have to do like resurfacing my front steps they have cracks and the edges are falling off hopefully I can save them
Rare to have a single drill sized hole in a wall cracks and stuff all over the place is more common
I have had water seeping actively through my basement wall. I stopped the leak with Flex seal. That was going on 5 years ago on 3 walls. It still is not leaking after all this time.
You will be sorry. Your wall will start to deteriorate. Never seal the inside of leaking masonry basement walls

totally get the windshield wiper pet peeve, but to be fair, the factory only makes 2 speeds... too fast and too slow.
My pet peeve is having 20 miles of open highway behind me and someone will always speed up to get in front of me and then immediately slow down forcing me to step on my break and turn off the cruise control...
Yeah, that one sucks. You know what I hate a lot more though? You're sitting stopped wanting to turn right. Leaving a parking lot for example. Then some asshole, almost always in a big pickup truck, pulls up next to you and stops too far forward that you can't see the traffic on the left. You move forward a bit so you can see past him. What does mr dickhead do? He pulls up even further so that the only possible way for you to see the traffic in the near lane is if you pull out far enough that you can get hit.

I think he is trying to show how well the stuff works for people in a really bad situation, I know someone who lived in a low spot who's entire yard would fill with water and had to put in a drain around the entire perimiter of the basement hooked up to a couple sump pumps with power failure battery backup to ensure the basement wouldn't actually fill completely with water, I mean there was enough water to fill the basement several times over and there was no place to drain it to because it was just endlessly being pumped out and slowly draining back in.
I have water coming in from where the floor and the wall meet . With this work for that?

I got hairline cracks and like little pin holes in my basement walls that are poured walls and are painted what’s the best way to stop the leaks
I patched a hole in my basement wall amd the water is still coming out. It seems from around the edges. Like seeping through. I put a second coat and its STILL leaking . I wish i could attach a photo. My house is over 100 years old. It's a hole right in the bottom corner. Any tips please

I like your channel, so please don't take this wrong... That's only putting a band-aid on the problem.. The Only proper way to fix a water leak in an exterior wall in the basement. Is to Excavate and repair the leak Out side.. When you Only stop the water inside... Your still allowing water to penetrate the masonry wall .. up to the point of inside the basement.. Which if left go, ( out of site, out of mind) will erode the foundation,. causing structural damage.. I've been doing this for 50 years.... So use your product, stop the interior leak.. to stop damage to your basement, But call an excavator and have it Properly and preeminently repaired
You are 99% right. I have been trying to get the message out that waterproofing from the inside and trapping water in the concrete will destroy the wall. But there IS another product that often works from the interior. Crystalline waterproofing. Xypex is one brand. It migrates into the pours of concrete filling all of the pores making it non porous. It can actually be removed after it has had a chance to penetrate the wall. But does not work well if there are a lot of large cracks. My family has been in the waterproofing business since the 60s

Been doing masonry and dam construction for 500 years, and have to say that the integrity of the structure and velocity of the hydro pressure at an atomic level on both internal and external forces with quantum mechanics can potentially have an obtuse effect on the wave particle duality on your foundation. 😂 JK. Tried it before. Nothing you can put on the inside will permanently stop water because the water will soak the block and it will effervesce as calcium and anything put on the surface will eventually come loose. Water must be blocked from the outside of the basement walls.

This doesn't work on actual leaking basement walls. That's why we dig out the foundations and reseal them from the outside which does work.

Thank you so much for posting this. It fixed the problem for now. I do wear crocks. I HATE the way they look! Lol. I work outside a lot and have had 2 back surgeries and crocks as ugly as they are do the trick for me regarding back pain. They are affordable, long-lasting, and easy to slip on/off between doors. I also hand wash the floors around here so it means a lot to me to keep the dirt outside. I really don't care how I look as long I keep moving.
I agree with you! I love crocs, but they are as ugly as sin! They are so comfortable, though easy to put on can be worn anywhere now with the even socks. And they do make more cute ones now, so it’s not as bad as the old ugly ones I had years ago. If you’ve never worn them, I guess you’d never understand how comfortable they are!

Thank you!! I had 2 leaks present at the same time and definitely no budget for a full fix right now. Especially since the corner where the leaks happened are where my porch and driveway meet the house ... dang it! We are expecting another storm tonight so fingers crossed this holds. Oh and my biggest pet peeve is when people take selfies with duck face or tongue sticking out ... ugh

Normally the water doesn't leak through the bricks, only when they are broken or there are cracks in the bricks. Most of the time the water leaks through the cement joints, they are more sensible for hydraulic fractionizing.

My pet peeve was coming home from work after 8 hours of rain to two feet of water in my basement and finding that the WP mortar clearly didn't help. Love your videos, but I was disappointed.

It is indeed the only way to stop the leak. I tried everything before discovering hydraulic cement which permenantly stopped the leak very quickly.
Crocks are ugly its true. Crocks are good for your feet, they are one of the best shoes for the health and good alignment of the toes.
I love Crocs. Not the way they look, but there are options. Super comfortable, light, water proof, and they would stay on my feet when running. I just get ones that don't look that much like Crocs. Maybe you'll convert.
When you do dig out the other side of the foundation, is this the same product you would use to repair the other side as well?
Pet peeve: "I will have someone reach out to you". Like reach out and touch someone? Sounds like a petafile situation to me.
Just dealt with a similar problem. Our house is a berm house and was built in the early 70's by the man who lived here and his brothers, no professionals involved. When we have heavy rain the back wall of the "basement" (which is the only wall that is completely covered in dirt) seeps water from under the bottom cement block in a small section. We've been dealing with it for Years and to be honest, every time it happens I just want to bulldoze the house in. We don't think there was any kind of barrier used against the block wall before they pushed the dirt back up against it. What do you think would be the best course of action as far as permanent repair of the wall?
Negative side waterproofing injection
Best Course: dig the outside wall down to footer apply dimple membrane on outside with drain pipe along bottom of with 2 to 3 foot of large gravel covered with silt fabric and then backfill. I’d also plate compact continuously while you backfill. It compacts spoil so less goes down to begin with. The ensure you slope 6+ feet away from house at surface.

@@grejen711 I had an addition added in 2020 and we couldn’t get dimple membrane anywhere. Contractor couldn’t wait any long and fell back to liquid water proofing. I’ve only has one issue where in back bottom corner gets wet when it really rains. Since I have interior footer drain under slap and dimple membrane between slab I’ve resorted to drilling holes to outside to allow water to get through wall into dipole trains as quickly as possible. I am looking at using negative coating above this a couple feet. My wall is a grout filled block wall so that makes it a little more difficult
I would do a french drain if possible. Water in the wall not good.

Michael, I had a patch on the outside of my foundation prepared by a specialist back in 1997. I’ve noticed the the parged covering came off the hydronic white/gray rubber patch. Can your product be used as a parge to conceal my old patch on my foundation or should I use Portland concrete and re-parge the entire wall in one fresh application? Ty
Yes but I would use Rapid Set Cement All or Rapid Set Mortar Mix on that project 😊

I felt the same way about Crocs in the beginning. Didn't like them. Then I tried some and liked them. Very comfortable and can walk on them for a long time without my feet hurting. Gotta give them a chance. Even if just walking around the house or outside.

If you have water intrusion, you need excavation
As stated in the video, this is a temporary fix. While you wait for excavation… you do this.
99% correct Depending on the situation crystalline waterproofing ( xypex is one brand) works great. It penetrates the concrete and fills the pours making the concrete itself waterproof so water doesn’t get in. You can even remove the interior coating one it has had a chance to penetrate. We use it n the waterproofing industry all hydro time.
My pet peeve is people wearing hat's backward.... It's not proper hat wearing etiquette and looks lame as heck and serves no purpose. But with that said I love your channel and video's.
What would have been helpful to know is to begin with water and add powder while stirring. Otherwise, if you put everything together at one time, you end up with very solid boulders.
Second, it would have been helpful to know that if you are doing a bigger project than one hole in a wall - as I am - this only suggests mixing up enough to last for 2-3 minutes at a time. Do I want to go back to the sink every 2-3 minutes and mix more? No, I don't. Off to the store for a different product.
LOL 🤣well I never mix the powder into the water and I've never produced boulders, not sure what YOU are doing wrong... also I'm sorry that YOU decided that you needed to be near a sink in order to complete any size project. You could have simply had a vessel of water (any size you want...) near you as I did in the video (no sink to be seen...). Have fun at the store, good luck and I'm 10% sure you won't get the next product wrong as I'm sure you're not the one who creates their own problems. Must be my video LOL 😆
@@MichaelBuildsI have seen a lot of videos that should be blamed, like spraying silicone with soapy water, but this is not one.👍 I sometimes use a 5 gallon pail of hydraulic cement in one day , and never mix more than about the size of a small orange and never ever had a sink nearby. And I always mix the water into the powder. And 10% is VERY optimistic. As my uncle used to tell me “ you have to be smarter than the apparatus your dealing with”😂
