- Hey ya'll, today I am back with another #MicrolocsUpdate (with my mom)! I wanted ya'll to see the difference in our hair journey so far because we do have different hair textures. My hair type would classify as 4a-4b whereas my mom has 4c hair. She has been experiencing a lot of dryness and I have not. Let me know what other videos you would like to see next! Wow!....Wait!...✋Mom?!!!...She looks like your twin sister!...You are both Soooooooo BEAUTIFUL!...😍💞💕❤
I’m saying !? She look like her little sister 😂😂😂🤦🏾♀️
I was so shocked. They look like sisters. I from twins to sisters and her mom actually looks younger. They are both beautiful! I need their regimen asap!
Facts
Whattttt that’s her momma!!!
@Melach of the earth 🙏🏾 Truth, too bad she doesn't do Microlocs
I seriously thought she was a younger sister at first....Forget locs have moms drop that skin care routine!
Yes!!!! We need to know!!!
Me too
All facts!
Same!
Wait wait a minute, MOM? If you’re 18 she looks like she’s 19, 20 yrs old. Black women why aren’t WE aging? What is OUR secret? Y’all ladies are beautiful!
Isa Dreadhead I guess some body’s hurt? Who said anything about beautiful? I said WE ARE NOT aging and that too, WE’RE BEAUTIFUL! That shows how hurt y’all are. Black women can’t have anything without y’all being butt hurt about it!Get a life jealous heffa WE WERE BORN THAT WAY!
Tykara my dear, I apologize I had to put her in her place. I don’t mean the negativity and drama.
Isa Dreadhead I don’t give a damn about you telling me everybody is beautiful. I wasn’t talking about everybody , I was talking about the black women! And why is that when we’re talking black women we feel that we must say everybody is beautiful?
Isa Dreadhead Go to sleep, sweet dreams!
@Isa Dreadhead butt hurt! Get a life!
Got ya moms whole ENTIRE face!!❤
I still can’t believe that’s your mom... but then she introduced herself as mom 😆. She’s def a mother
Facts! Lolol. Only a true mother knows their name is mom! 🤣😂🤣😂. Why do we do that?? Too funny!! 😂😂😂
Girl I thought that was your sister! I was like “oh her mom must be coming in later!” More proof black really don’t crack!
Y’all’s hair is GORGEOUS!!
Mom looks like sister! Look at God and praise Him!!!😍🥰😍🥰😍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thank you!
Omg... I thought this was your twin sister. You stole your moms whole face😲
Absolutely gorgeous ladies.😊
Thank you
Mama I believe your washing your hair too often. The hard chemicals in the water (unless you have a really good filtration system) the mixture of shampoo or cleansing strips your hair along with the hard water. Wettting daily is fine but you should only have to wash 1 or 2 times a month- & if you’re not using that many products you can wash it even less
I mix 1/2 rosewater & 1/2 vitamin e oil.... I spray my hair everyday. Plain water does dry your locs.
Because you’re mom’s hair is 4c like mine, it takes longer for natural oils from our scalp to travel down our hair shaft. she should try washing it less often and adding a little bit of conditioner or Aloe Vera inside of her water and oil concoction. Then put a little bit of glycerin on her hands and rub it into her locs to help lock the moisture in. Always remember, water is moisturizing but it will evaporate so sealing is THE key 💞
Thanks!
I love your relationship dynamic. It's similar to the way that my 18 year old daughter and I relate. When your mom introduced herself as "Mom" I was tickled.
Girl!!!!! Y'all look the same age!!!!! What is this sorcery?!?!!!😍
I have 4c hair as well and I’ve been told that thicker hair should be washed less often. It takes longer for our natural oils to make its way down the strand, so constant washing sort of restarts the natural moisturizing process.
I’d suggest wetting/washing less often to help with the dryness
Wait. Hold up. Hold up. HOOOOOOLLLLD UP!!!! That's your mom! She looks your age. I thought you two were sisters and when you said mom my face cracked. Wtf!!!
What water are y'all drinking?! That's your mom!!! Whoa!
Mom skin care routine PLEASE! IM TRYNA LOOK LIKE YOU WHEN I GROW UP!!!🤗
Mom!?! Naww naww stop playing that's your mom!?!? I thought she was your sister! What the freak😱
@૨σყαℓ ƭεε 😂 but like seriously look at her! I know black don't crack but dang this seems like it's on a whole another level 😂 but there's absolutely nothing wrong with looking super young 😊 God has truly blessed our people with our looks 🙌🏾
I was told rose water is good to use instead of plain water.
Rose water is amazing, restores natural pH of hair, amazing conditioner and smells great.
@@josephosullivan9506 i ordered some for my daughters locs. I can't put any in my hair right now because i have fresh sisterlocks, but once they mature a bit i am looking forward to using it.
Thanks for the tip! I buy rose water to add to hyaluronic serum, but will use it as a rinse after I wash my hair.
Also, if you were a 4c loose natural before locking, once a week is WAAAYYY too frequent to be washing your hair. Once a month or every 2-3 weeks max would be more ideal. That might explain the dryness you're experiencing. Try cutting back on the washing to once a month, and spritzing with ROSE water as necessary. You truly don't need oil on the hair. You might want to oil the scalp LIGHTLY after your monthly washing, but if you live in Texas this wouldn't even be necessary in the Summer.
Use rosewater and or rosewater with glycerine. Never tap or distilled water.
YOUR MOM AND YOU LOOK SO ALIKE AND ARE BEAUTIFUL. In love with your locs
Thank you!
Your mom look 15. Lol
My starter microlocs also used to get VERY dry, and I used to mist/spritz with water. ROSE WATER is honestly a game changer. Make a rosewater mix with vitamin e oil and some essential oils. You will definitely notice the difference.
I've been dyyyyyinnnng for an update from your mom, glad you finally got her on camera with us 🤗 Thank you Mama! 🙏🏾
More to come!
Mom, you are encouraging me because I installed my microlocs in March and I have 4C hair as well. I have had good success with Glycerin and have only tried it once since my installation. I'm trying to let my locs grow out as they are very short right now. All I use is rose water and vitamin E oil every other day. I spritz with water everyday as my hair is does dry out. I wash it every 2 weeks.
Yessss. I've been waiting for this 🙌 😍
MOM??!!! Mom looks amazing, I just knew y’all were sisters!!
4:22 my locs were getting super dry with the shampoo only routine. I added coconut oil post shampoo, and then did a final rinse in (freezing) cold water... and my hair isn't dry anymore (I also don't wet my hair in between washes).
I love the way both of your locs have turned out. I've been following the journey since the beginning. I wanted to comment about your mom's hair being dry. I've had the same issue and once I've read the knotty truth book it helped me so much with moisture. Everyday I use a mixture of aloe Vera juice, water, green tea & chamomile tea. It's definitely helped me allot. There are other mixtures for those who's hair is more mature. Hope this helps 🤗
The tea mix sounds great. How and when do you use it
@@mimiabdul1177 Smells amazing too! I use it everyday as a leave in conditioner as it suggested in the book. When I first started using it I used it twice a day; morning and at night. Now that my hair is retaining moisture I'm down to once a day.
@@mimiabdul1177 The mixture is 1/3 water, 1/3 aloe Vera juice and 1/3 tea mix
Thanks for the tips!
Simple rose water would do the same thing, and not leave the hair tacky. They also have the rose water with glycerin for the winter months.
I’m screeching at how young the mom looks. Crossing my fingers I age the same way
My sister locks get dry when I’m dehydrated just like my skin get’s dry. Want healthy locs, make sure you’re eating right and staying hydrated is especially important.
I agree! We learned this in beauty school. I also saw the proof of it when we convinced my husband's niece to drink more water if she wanted long hair. Lol...she was a pre-teen at the time, but it actually worked!
Disclaimer: I'm not saying she grew an outrageous amount of hair or anything, but it grew much longer than it had been before and it wasn't dry, brittle and breaking.
Water adds moisture but only temporarily. Whenever you use water in your hair you should use products that can penetrate and be absorbed into the hair shaft. After the water evaporates there is no moisture left and your hair will be left feeling dryer than before. When your spray with water add oil as well so it seals into the hair as it dries ... hope that helps!
Thank you!
@@TyKaraAnn anytime ! 💕
Mom is goals!
MOM?! I KNEW THIS WAS YOUR SISTER.
I just love the look of micro locs but my lazy self could never...I’m going for a thick loc with not too many lol
Yes Mom, wetting and washing too frequently can dry out the hair. I've got 4c locs as well and went from weekly wash and daily moisturizing to now monthly wash and moisturizing with a rose water and jojoba oil (or vitamin E) mixture twice a week and my hair is feeling softer than ever! Not a loctician but that's been my experience.
Congratulations on your graduation!! 🎊🎓🎉
Y’all face expressions through the whole video was hilarious asf 🤣💀
😁
I was having the same dryness issues with my locs. I had to change my shampoo from Castille soap to Carol's daughter. Then I changed my wash schedule from 1x a week to 1x every 2 weeks. Then finally I use Rosewater w/ glycerine diluted with water and I add rosemary oil and orange oil. Tbh the rose water helped the most and it smells amazing!
Thanks for sharing!!
her mom is so gorgeous, clearly where she gets it from 😍
Yesssssss MOM 🙌🏾 looks so young love this video reminds me of my family. 🥰
Mom has found the fountain of youth👑🥰👑🥰
Lord! mom looks like your sister!! ❤️
You both are Gorgeous ❤️
Love your locs ladies😍😍!
Lawd your mom looks good! Black is beautiful ❤️🎉
Your parents look so young. (I saw your dad on the vegan food video) Your mom is a flawless beauty and y’all are beautiful twins. I have been inspired to get micro locks. Thanks for sharing your journey Sis.
Thank you so much!!
For dry locs, try getting rose water, put in a spray bottle and mist your locs. Restores natural pH of hair, improves condition over time and smells great.
I started my micro-ish locs July 5th,2021 and watching your vids I think I'm going to go in and make them smaller. Thanks for the inspiration. Love this video
You are so welcome!
wow your Ma looks like your twin and beautiful locs on both of you!😍🥰
for dry hair: clarify well (Get. It. Clean. First.), condition as normal (usually liquid, not cream rinse), glycerin via fro/jheri curl SPRAY (YES! read the bottles. The ingredients are better than most products) recommend: SofteSheen-Carson Sta-Sof-Fro Hair & Scalp Spray and Luster's S-Curl Activator Moisturizer, then seal with an oil as normal (I would not recommend coconut oil here. Pre poo, yes.). Wash with normal shampoo once a week. Hope that helps.
Wow! You two are gorgeous and I can't believe that's your mom!!!!
OMG! Mom?!! She looks like your sister..like just a year older sister. Melanin queens..black surely don't crack. I love to see this! Beautiful women!!
Forget this loc update! That’s your mom!!! I ran to the comments to make sure I heard what I heard!! WOW!! Go Mom!
I’ve seen this video but YT recommended it to me. I still cannot believe this is your mother 😍😍😍😍 y’all look the SAME age!
Thank you❤️😂
OMG I cannot believe that is your mama! She is beautiful!
That’s your mom?! Idk why I’m shocked anymore by how young we look😂 but it never ceases to amaze me lol
Also, tell your mom to use rose water with her oils, for whatever reason that stuff is super moisturizing and seals your ends. I have 4c micro locs
Mom?!? Giiirl, I thought that was your sister around the SAME AGE as you! Go ‘head, mom!!!! 👏🏾
Waiiiiit MOM?! Holy cow. The genetics
😍
I use aloe Vera, vegetable glycerin, rose water, avocado oil, lavender essential oil mix together and spray once or twice a week. My hair is 4c low porosity
Thanks for sharing!!
if you spray everyday, you have to seal in the water with a light oil right after! once a week i also do a 5 minute light conditioner when i wash...i retain moisture all week (i.e. i no longer have to spritz everyday)
Ok so I really thought that was your younger sister no joke, WOW! She looks so young and you are both gorgeous!!!
I am DYING!!!!!! Y'all are too cute tryna figure out how long the journey has been! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣❤❤❤
Your mom is so cute, love this video!
Thank you!!
You both have gorgeous hair, and I can't believe that that's your mom!? You look like sisters!!
MOOOMMM?!? 😳🤯 , more like “Twwwiinn , where have you beeenn?!…” 😂 ! LOVE IT😄🥰 - Y’all are so youthful , and beautiful ! 💜
Thank you😂
Great video from you both 💕
Thank you 🤗
This might sound weird but I’ve been watching a lot of loc specialists on UA-cam and they have been saying that putting water on your hair everyday does make it more dry... like taking a shower, the water dries out your skin... it also dries out your hair... and adding a lot of products can cause buildup.
Glycerin is very good. I have 4b/c hair. Traditional locs 3 years. I moisturize everyday with Carol's Daughter black vanilla leave in conditioner spray or Heritage Rosewater and Glycerin. Adding glycerin to your spray would be great. I look for products with it at least within the first 3-4 ingredients. I love y'all's hair!
You may need a less harsh shampoo. Also try applying squalane oil to your hair right after spraying (avoid water from your sink unless it has been filtered/softened). Squalane oil is one of the few oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft and keep it soft. You may be high porosity (like me). High porosity hair need some type of sealant and a humectant if you are in a humid environment most of the day.
Wowww your mom looks like you sister she's a beauty 🥰❤
Mom looks AMAZZZZZING. BLACK DON’T CRACK🖤✊🏾
My locs feel good when I spray aloe Vera juice. Add that to your concoction!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Wowowowowow I can’t believe that’s your mom!!!!!! Wow I’m Shooketh!!!!
I know I’m late but I mix rose water, aloe Vera juice and distilled water in a bottle, and then I use a favorite oil. And y’all locs are sooo pretty!
Thanks for sharing!!
Hey ladies beautiful 😍! My hair is dryer at time I use glycerine in a water bottle mixture of jojoba oil, coconut oil water mix. It works!
I thought I was in love with your locs then I seen your moms 😍🥺. Y’all hair is truly gorgeous!
Literally thought that was your TWIN!!!! Amazing
Okay I just refuse to believe this is your Mum!! I know black don’t crack but this is a whole nother level of THAT!!! Going to sleep, I’m too shook ✌🏾
Your mom is stunning. I use water and glycerin on my sisterlocks . But I didn't start doing that until I was 2 years in. I only use water most days. Your mom's hair might dry because of the water being hard. She might want to try bottled water/purified water. At my 2 year mark I also started using conditioner diluted in water. Using straight conditioner on baby locs can cause them to slip. Hope this helps🤗🤗🤗
Water is a moisturiser but you need to seal it into your hair it your using oils. Look at a good sealant. Maybe castor oil or Argan. . Glycerin is good for low porosity
I thought your mum was your sister!!! And she's gorrrgeousss!
I thought you were going to say. Hey y’all this is my twin … wow. How beautiful is she and so youthful looking.
I’ve learned for me that rose mary products make my locs dry. And I have 4c hair as well. Caster oil make my hair softer. And I mix it with water sometimes
I would love to see Grandma, what a beautiful pair. Thanks for the video.
Wait one.... I'm still on "Mom"😳 presumed she was your lil sister! Give it up for these melanated beauties!!! Of course, thanks for sharing!! Stay strong!💪🏽💯💜👑
You had me shocked at mom!
You and your mom are beautiful and I love your hair. I really thought your mom was your sister at first 😁. I'm a new subscriber.
MOM??? I thought she was your little sister. Lawd have mercy! I need to change my diet and skincare because GOALS okay!
I have started using a 0.5mm crotchet hook on the locs that slip out. It looks good so far.😊
First comment ❤️love yall
My spray contains: aloe vera juice, rose water, vegetable glycerin, vitamin E oil, avocado oil, caster oil and peppermint essential oil (1 or 2 drops). It’s mostly equal amounts of the first two products and a little of each of the others. This fixed dryness for me.
I think letting people know they are not sisterlocks but microlocks is a good thing, because it lets people know they don’t have to empty the bank to get the look.
I'm 14 months in since my loc journey, its not as dry since taking the supplements, also argan oil has helped
I thought her mom was her sister. I hope I look this good when my kids get older.
Try a mixture of rosewater and vitamin E. I spray my micro(ish) locs with it daily. I have 4c hair and it feels pretty moisturized.
Use glycerin as a sealant but not as a moisturizer as itself! I used to use it (I don't need more) it helped a lot was stealing the moisture into my hair.
I just installed starter microlocs. My hair got really dry after washing without conditioning. After I washed and followed up with the rinse out conditioner and deep conditioner that I used as a loose natural, my hair was no longer dry. I used my deep conditioner as a leave-in, which is what I did as a loose natural. When my hair was loose, I would follow-up the deep conditioner with oil, but I don't seem to need that with microlocs.
After you spray your hair with water seal it with Castor oil, do this once a week. Water by itself is drying your hair out. Also you're washing your hair too often. Once a month should be fine. I've been loc'd for 3yrs(traditional locs).
YOUR MOM😳 NO WAY!
Mom???. Okay then Mommy! Love it!
