I think you could. I have made up in my mind I am going to do it. This is something I can do when I have the time. To me things like this is relaxing. I just get on my couch, listen to music, or some movies, and go.

A mother’s love is immeasurable! Such great bonding time over beautiful hair!
It takes me 5 days to retighten my hair. About 30ish hours. There is a lot Netflix and audiobooks in those hours.

Sometimes it can take me up to two weeks to complete my re tightening. I just do a little bit every day after work... Ughhh 😒😆 this Valentine's Day will be 4 years locked.

I'm glad I'm not the only one 😔. I have 817 braidlocs that I installed and retightening myself. It's taking me 1,000 yrs to complete a retightening lol.

Thank you for the update. I'm currently doing my own retightening. Girl I started this about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and I'm still working on it. It does not feel like a burden but it is a lot. And I have never sat down more than 1.5 hours at a time to retighten. Hopefully I get them all done this week. I know I've messed up my "parts" or not-grid grid. So we will see how it works out. I accidentally knotted a few in my nape area. I also untentionally joined a few at the roots. I need to adopt your mom's strategies using the clips. My individual twists/starter locs are not in perfect little squares so im sure that is contributing to my issues. So far, I'm still loving my hair. This is my first attempt with starter locs, my first time retightening. So I have some learning to do. I appreciate you sharing your journey.

Your micolocs are beautiful. I had small locs and I tried to maintain them myself but that didn’t work for me. So I cut my hair off. Rocked a short cut for a while then I started traditional locs two months ago. 🥰🥰

I assumed re-tightening would have been the same process as a dred but she did that for each one😱 she’s a great mom
You (and your mom) have cultivated some beautiful locs on your head! It seems well worth the time investment, but I know that is only easy to say when you're not the one doing it just yet lol. My hair had heat damage and wouldn’t stop breaking off so I just cut it all off. BUT, once I grow it back out long enough to loc, I’m either gonna microloc it or get sister locs. I hope mine looks similar to yours. Your hair is so bomb! 😍

Anyway.. I like this update ! 2 months ago I started the journey (thanks for the inspiration) and I love everything about my locks expect the retighting part.. I have decided now to retight section by section maybe 3 hours each day, for I cannot bear seating at home all the day to retight them !

Your mum does have beautiful hands and she is fast. Advice for when you are doing this solo. Retighten everyone six weeks and accept only doing a quarter of your head and that it will take you a couple days on your own. Patience. The gifts for the locversary was lovely.

You can do it. Just practice and take your time. You'll get the hang of interlocking

Yes sometimes they do unravel, so I typically braid the ones that do.
