This professor is the best. He actually explains what he is doing when in the process of an action and doesn't just get angry and yell when you don't know the answer, like all the other math teachers in school. Love this! He really breaks the deadlock. :)
My teacher wouldn't talk to me about making up a quiz I missed, he walked away from while I tried to talk to him. So I left to go to my next class. I never made up that quiz, I got pissed. I know I shouldn't hold a grudge, but he gets mad at me when I ask questions now. Every time I ask for help with a question, he just fixes it for me instead of letting me go back and trying to solve it myself. He makes me feel like shit. He once made me cry because I didn't finish a test. He doesn't believe I have ADHD just because my parents won't have go to the school to say I officially have it. Long story short, math class is a living hell. These videos are keeping me going. God bless Brian McLogan because I'd be lost without these videos.

I have to rewatch it every once in a while and this guy in 4 mins explained it better than all profs and teachers in the last 7 years of learning this.
Math teachers were always like “you won’t be walking around with a calculator” but actual engineers are relearning whole math lessons at the touch of a button😂
Working through this with my daughter for school. Man I wish UA-cam was around when I was a kid. If one teacher doesn’t make sense, you try another. Yours was the one that got it to click for me so I could talk it through with her. For fun, I tried this method on the basic ax^2 + bx + c = 0 leaving in the a, b, and c c as the coefficients instead of numbers. Holy cow! That’s where the Quadratic Formula comes from!
It’s so amazing to just have someone talk it out and explain to you other than just following instructions from a book (which I don’t get 90% of the times -.-)
Thank you for explaining this in a manner that makes it so easy to understand. It helped a lot when my professor left me beyond confused by not actually explaining why she was doing what she was doing.

Yes, you're correct. You first divide it by 2 which in this video (-4/2)=-2. Then you have to square that number which is 4. -2^2=4 because a negative multiplied by a negative is equal to a positive.
Honestly just watching this helped me understand way better than learning it for a week straight in class. Im in 7th grade algebra and have a big pre-test tomorrow. This just made it way easier for me, thank you so much.

Good evening I have a question please help me will it work if I just transpose the negative 2 so that x will be = positive 2 +/- square root 17 will it work or I have to add a 2 on my let n right
To get rid of -13 in the left side he had to add +13 to both sides. -13 + 13 is 0, and he had to add the same value to the other side to keep the equation even. When getting rid of something on one side to move it to the other, you always add the opposite of it. If you want to move x to the other side you need to add -x to both x itself and the other side. Hopefully this makes sense.

2:00 how did it go from x^2-4x+4 to (x-2)^2?
when you do (x-2)^2 you do (x-2)(x-2) which is (x^2-4x+4)
You use the foil method to get from (x-2)^2 or (x-2)(x-2), which are the same, to get to x^2-4x+4

When getting rid of something on one side to move it to the other, you always add the opposite of it. If you want to move x to the other side you need to add -x to both x itself and the other side.
