Interesting crossing the River Trent just before the old Caste Donington (wrong spelling in video) power station site, then the site of the former Castle Donington railway station. You can see the siding for the power station and the cross over just before the old railway station. I had my model train collection next to the railway for a while and Climate Hero stopped right outside.
So glad I stumbled on this. From a personal perspective between Rugeley and Burton it's sad to see how much has been lost in such a short space of time. Parcel shuffling parks, copy and paste housing estates, endless gravel pits and HS2 have ravaged so much green belt and farmland :(
Thanks for sharing this. Growing up in the area around Toton I've always wondered what it's like down the Castle Donnington line from Sheet Stores Junction. I shall actually being doing the route for real next month on a rail tour. A bit of further info for you: at 1:20:55 is the former site of Long Eaton station. The current Long Eaton station is actually in Sawley! Also, as you stop at Toton, the bridge in the distance was the location for the Sandiacre and Stapleford station.
Worked at Marcroft Engineering from 1997 to 2011. EMD were also on the site, but when they moved to Longport,
I followed as an engine fitter.

Thanks For that. Have done 3 stints working at Toton in my career. First one being in 1990 and finished in 2017.
Nice ride and great view of the Country side, Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Lovely route through Staffordshire into Nottinghamshire.
I'd love to see more electrified lines, but with lots of 66's in operation it doesn't make sense at the moment.
Nice thank you.👍👍👍👍
No problem 👍
A question for you. Is the Castle Donnington line used for passenger diversions At times please
Yes occasionally. There was also a time when the last St Pancras Derby would go that way as well.
Castle Donnington such a beautiful area and not far from Loughborough (Leicestershire)
It was used extensively a few years ago whilst Derby Station was being rebuilt.
My wife's family's from Stoke and always buys oatcakes from Biddulph 😊
Excellent!
No more class 47 with the coal at Rugeley
It was all 20's 56's , 58's and 60's in my day....
. @@RailMart Mainly 47's in Ironbridge.
why not run from Stoke to Willington via Uttoxeter
Retention of route knowledge. Went back via the North Staffs.
