We welcome any comments and suggestions for videos, or routes to be edited and uploaded. We have various Cab ride and rail videos and are looking when time permits to have more lineside footage and travel reports. Whilst We do have access for our camera equipment in some driving cabs these are normally when there are two or more persons in the cab and involves different Drivers/ Guards and technical staff most of which are under instruction/ training. So there is as you can imagine a considerable amount of talking. As part of the agreements to access the cabs as was the case many years ago we are not permitted to replay voices. We have tried to edit out voices and remove them and do some dubbing, but it has proven far too time consuming for the return we recieve from You Tube. If anyone knows of a quick/cheap way to do this the please drop a comment below. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.

Whilst Awaiting for the Union Pacific #4014 Big Boy, This East bound double stack came by. This is probably the longest train I have ever seen. The lady in the video was all of a flap because some idiots had entered the Railroad crossing and couldn't exit with a train approaching.

The awesomeness of this loco Knows no bounds
Stillington, close to where I spent my childhood. Used to watch the trains pass as I sat in the docs along Messiness Lane.
Worked at Marcroft Engineering from 1997 to 2011. EMD were also on the site, but when they moved to Longport, I followed as an engine fitter.
Enjoyable and familiar trip. Excellent. 👍 For future reference , it's Golborne (common mistake).
Why is that Dork holding his ears
SEE . . . SEE TRULY YOU TRULY CAN SEE ( A PERSON ) WHO REALLY TRULY IS REALLY TRULY ( NOT ) A RAILFAN .
Lovely film!
Such a thrill to watch this, brought back so many memories. I used to live alongside this line from the mid 70's to the mid 80's and my dad was a wagon driver working a lot out of Swinden Quarry. I then worked in Grassington in 90's and used drive up from Skipton everyday, alongside this track and the quarry. My old primary school is on the left at 4m21s and the house I grew up in, on the right around 5m15s! I remember the trains used to run quite a bit faster back then, the hoppers emblazoned with Tilcon. As kids, we used to walk along the line through Haw Tunnel (never knew its name until this video, thank you!!). Still remember the alcoves in the tunnel walls, both sides and the corrugated tunnel under Skipton bypass, and the feeling of terrified excitement of being in that tunnel when a train came through one day!!! Certainly back in the 80's, the track work was still there for the Embsay junction, it stopped maybe 10 yard from the main track (if memory serves). Thanks for the memories!
Brilliant 👍
Always fascinated by that brake van by Ancaster. Wonder how many years it’s been there.
Back in the 60's we would travel from Exeter to Exmouth on this line for our summer holidays, fond memories.
I used to work this line as a secondman at skipton with class 37s and 60s. Beautiful line. Brings back happy memories
Scary how many 'roads' drivers have to sign to keep current. Some of those junctions and crossovers are so similarly nondescript and bland I'd be living in a permanent state of deja'vu!
So glad I stumbled on this. From a personal perspective between Rugeley and Burton it's sad to see how much has been lost in such a short space of time. Parcel shuffling parks, copy and paste housing estates, endless gravel pits and HS2 have ravaged so much green belt and farmland :(
Goole my home town
Made this trip a few times . Magic views , there is a foot path along the route over looking the sea , if you have the stamIna and an energy filled dog as company R.I.P. PADDY .
just a single line now
Interesting crossing the River Trent just before the old Caste Donington (wrong spelling in video) power station site, then the site of the former Castle Donington railway station. You can see the siding for the power station and the cross over just before the old railway station. I had my model train collection next to the railway for a while and Climate Hero stopped right outside.
One of my favourite lines, but I do wonder why causeland isn't a request stop…
Actually this journey takes you through the Southern Uplands. The lowlands are north of New Cumnock. This is my home line.
As someone who grew up in Essex (the other side) have to say it's easy to forget just how much Essex there really is
Dramatic setting, great catch.
Fantastic.
One very minor point. The caption at Stoke Junction says "joining the WCML" , Tha line through Stoke is not the WCML.
lovely video.... I lived in Exeter many many years ago and sometimes miss it....pity to see so much built up now ..the countryside rapidly disappearing, and the wild life with it. Sad.... 70/75 % reduction in most insects, plants, trees, animals since the 1970s....
Thanks for sharing. It's a nice video of this former Branchline to Grassington. I saw this railway while driving from Skipton to Grassington on holiday this year and wondered about its history. Thanks again.

regularly drive over the bridge at worleston station ,, its now a house people live in it ? not sure about trains coming throgh back garden tho..
Sure i've been up this line on a diversion before when the ECML was closed between Darlington and Ferryhill
Wasnt there once an idea to reopen the Leamside Line and start passengers services between Tyneside and Teesside also utilising the Stillington Line, but nothing ended up coming of it
Curious if you know: Apparently that crossing is interconnected with the traffic signal on Hwy 6 - when a train is passing through, does the light stay green on 6 or does it go into flash mode?
To my knowledge it stays normal. Never seen it go into flash mode will look un detail next time I am down there.
Regarding the IPort, it's funny how they can make "Mowhere" into "Everywhere". Seemingly, all it takes is plenty of money.
Well I am not familiar with the countryside. However you really need to see our train ' The Ghan' . Hours of entertainment going through the interior of Australia.
Very interesting, not been on this line, alas. Must try and get there one day. David, Crouch End, London N8
I really enjoyed watching this thankyou 😊
Line looks in good condition. Do they just call the a signaller in at Norton on Tees when required?
They used to. All now signalled from York.
Did this trip in the cab of an 8f Austerity in Spring 1967. At Ferryhill, 92065 (ex Tyne Dock, with air pumps for the doors on the iron ore trains ) was shunting, then waiting to go north. Passing us in the opposite direction, tender first, was K1 62041 on Dolomite empties. Our turn was to finish at Steetley's, Hartlepool, Cemetery North - where we'd begun early that morning, after coaling up by the enormous stage at West Hartlepool Loco.
So much litter!
Must be boring being a driver on that line, flat as a pancake, I come from up north, we have structures called hills and mountains. The line could do with a few curves to stop the driver nodding off.
Would think some Northern drivers at Doncaster would still sign Bentley to Stainforth, but as time passes, it's got to dwindling.
This is how i remember it,great memories
9 days of heaven
Roll on September for me, can't wait
Seems funny departing off the depot via the North yard arrival lines ! but makes sense now with no Sandiacre box to control movements.
There used to be through coaches from Liverpool Street on the Clacton train, and we split at Thorpe with Henry taking the larger portion on to Clacton and Thomas hooked on to the rest for a slow chuff up to Walton. Trains often passed at Frinton, which shows how frequent the service must have been on Summer Saturdays; You also needed to book seats or you would be standing the whole way in packed corridors.
Great video. Thanks 🙏🏻
Our Holbeck job was always a pair of class 31’s,a nightmare to get out of the yard with 2,000 ton of limestone loaded just slipping and sliding due to being too light. A lot of this went to Hull Dairycoats sidings and it was used for the Humber Bridge i believe, I once second manned a Neville Hill man to Dairycoates from Holbeck in the early 1980’s
