I used to buy onigiri (Japanese rice balls) and eat them in the parking lot with my friends. I also got my first job offer in that parking lot. It brings back memories; I need to go back and visit again.
There's a big Japanese Supermarket in Edgewater , New Jersey which opened in 1987. The conglomerate that owned it went bankrupt ( Yohan Plaza) new people took it over and now it's called Mitsuwa Marketplace.
Thanks for this informative video. I work around the area and pass through there every month with the family. Planning to stop by for a lunch there later this month to check the place out especially that 2nd floor sushi restaurant.
Thank you so much for sharing with us! I remember before the pandemic, their 2nd floor also sells Japanese Kotatsu, furniture and all that good stuff. I guess they no longer selling them ;/
I'm here at least once a week for my bento lunches, eel, calamari salad, and pickled cucumbers! It's a great place. And the takoyaki stand is awesome!!!
I go there all the time! This video looks much better than the actual store LOL. I miss the old Mitsuwa which had a big food court. Tokyo Central food court is so small and doesn’t have any good quick bite.
When you are going on a trip and staying at hotels without washing machines, how do you do laundry? Do you pay for laundry service or visit a laundromat?
Hi Derek -- our general rule of thumb is 9 days or less we can pack enough clothes and no laundry. But after that honestly we do all the things you mentioned depending upon the cost and the place. Some hotels can actually have really cheap laundry service. But usually we'll go to a laundry mat. But it's even better to just try and plan the laundry day in a hotel that had laundry facilities. Yes. That does take some advance planning. But so much easier not to have to drag your laundry around
Thanks for this video! I tracked down a Tokyo Central in West Covina, on my way home from LA today. I almost felt like I was back in Japan! Although we couldn’t buy the food or groceries this time, I definitely needed to buy a few bottles of Pocari Sweat and some Coolish!!!
I am so glad to live in Southern California with so many grocery stores from other countries. I have a nice Tokyo Central 20 minutes away. I’m close to Zion Market, H Mart, Korean, Ranch 99 Chinese, vegetable Wholesale,Vietnamese vegan, Among the many others.
Also LAX-C what I call Thai Costco on Main Street behind Chinatown in Downtown L.A. area. I go there for Thai ingredients. And also the huge 99 Ranch Market inside of the mall formerly known as Santa Anita Mall, but the more recent Taiwanese owner renamed it. It's in Arcadia next to Santa Anita Racetrack. 99 Ranch is a Chinese market. I've lived in L.A. County since a young child in the1960s and love the wide diversity in both people and food.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the wonderful tour of Tokyo Central. They are planning to open one here in Hawaii on the Windward side of the island. It would be a great addition since the Don Quijote store close some time back. If they build it , I will check it out. Take care.
I wonder if they will ever get to the East Coast, specifically the Washington, D.C. area because there are no Japanese grocery store here at all. Only Chinese and Korean owned "Marts"
There's one less than a mile from my house in West Covina CA. Their meats are delicious but expansive. Also there's plenty of chips you won't find in American supermarkets. They have ready made food where you can eat inside.
I think Mistuwa is higher quality... this place is certainly bigger... has a wider selection of products, and many are cheaper than Mitsuwa for the same item
Have you made a vlog about the Buena Park,CA Koreatown? The Source is a 4 story Korean mall with 2 food courts, restaurants, bars,Korean style movie theatre, and Kpop merchandise stores. Also in Buena Park (91 and Beach blvd.) there are over 100 Korean restaurants within a couple mile radius.Buena Park is not just Knox Berry Farms anymore.
@YellowProductions There is also a famous Korean royal dining restaurant near the source called Kyungbukong.Feels like you are dining in a Korean palace .Also there tons of amateur Kpop dance groups who are filming dance covers in the main square of the source. Also you might want to check out the Hmart a couple blocks away or one of the many Korean saunas nearby.Endless stuff to vlog.
Yes, please. it's so fast and blurry. Can you please stop and show things? I am guessing maybe it was not easy shooting inside there if you don't have permission.
I’ve never shot a walking video tour before, but I bet it’s hard to strike a balance between slow camera work and short, uptempo videos that keep the audience engaged. Perhaps Chris can share his perspective. 📹
Can't get gaga oveJapanese, shipped, fruits and vegetables in California, the greatest producer of fresh produc.why?? buy rice fromJapan, when I can buy organic rice grown in California. Psst!

One of the best market in South Bay Area. Love this place!
One is opening here in Emeryville, CA YAY
Great video! Thanks for the wonderful walk through and narration. I can't wait to go here and experience it for myself.
I used to buy onigiri (Japanese rice balls) and eat them in the parking lot with my friends. I also got my first job offer in that parking lot. It brings back memories; I need to go back and visit again.
used to be Marukai St.... There's a trend of sushi corner on every grocery store nowadays.... even 7eleven will offer sushi on the cold section.

There's a Mitsuwa in Torrance, CA pretty cool place!
Can’t wait to visit this location. I’ve only been to the one in West Covina. This one seems bigger and nicer.
Thank you for the review of this market 😊
Thank You for posting this amazing store! I Love It! ❤️ I’m definitely going to check out this store with my son! 😊
Thank you for your tour. I'm in northern CA and next year they will open a Tokyo Central in Emeryville which is not far. Can't wait!
Awesome!
Thanks for this informative video. I work around the area and pass through there every month with the family. Planning to stop by for a lunch there later this month to check the place out especially that 2nd floor sushi restaurant.

Me too! 😀
LOVE THIS STORE, GREAT JOB!
Thank you so much for sharing with us! I remember before the pandemic, their 2nd floor also sells Japanese Kotatsu, furniture and all that good stuff. I guess they no longer selling them ;/
Yeah. Furniture is gone
I'm here at least once a week for my bento lunches, eel, calamari salad, and pickled cucumbers! It's a great place. And the takoyaki stand is awesome!!!
Mmmm!
they got the secret sushi restaurant on 2nd level back....good stuff
I live in a city neighboring Gardena. I will need to check this supermarket out soon.
I go there all the time! This video looks much better than the actual store LOL.
I miss the old Mitsuwa which had a big food court. Tokyo Central food court is so small and doesn’t have any good quick bite.
Yeah. I miss the old Mitsuwa too
I live down the street but never been here... I need to go
Nice to see. Please slow down and show the products. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this video..
Pricey,
There's also another Japanese market on Azusa avenue in West Covina, CA.
Thank you for your video! Now, I am very interested in visiting the Tokyo Central in Yorba Linda!
Awesome Elizabeth! That's a good location too. Not quite as big as this one though 😀
When you are going on a trip and staying at hotels without washing machines, how do you do laundry? Do you pay for laundry service or visit a laundromat?

I used to go to this location many years ago when I lived in Gardena. Did they do a reconstruction for a grand opening?
Hmm. Yeah. It's been remodeled a bit
Sugoi! I unfortunately have only 2, 3 small Japanese mom-and-pop stores in my town.
Wow, I thought there would be a bigger Japanese market elsewhere in CA.
This is it 😀
Thanks for this video! I tracked down a Tokyo Central in West Covina, on my way home from LA today. I almost felt like I was back in Japan! Although we couldn’t buy the food or groceries this time, I definitely needed to buy a few bottles of Pocari Sweat and some Coolish!!!
Awesome Wayne!

Agreed!

Neat. And they're planning to open it as as a Tokyo Central instead of a Don Quijote?
@@YellowProductions That's the plan so far.
Oh I remember I went there often was it called Mitsuwa?
This one used to be called Marukai -- Mistuwa is different one: ua-cam.com/video/I-YB7ZJnOQ8/v-deo.html
I wonder if they will ever get to the East Coast, specifically the Washington, D.C. area because there are no Japanese grocery store here at all. Only Chinese and Korean owned "Marts"
Agreed.. DC needs better Japanese food overall

You should go to the source oc a Korean mall next time
Tenkatori is actually primarily a karaage restaurant (literally in the name), the ramen is actually the side thing they do.
Begging to open one in Northern Virginia 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Excellent video! Thank you. Really in depth viewing of the store’s offering and so encouraging to visit.
Thanks Milette!
Welcome to Tokyo Central Gardena.
Did he say where this place is?
Is this better than mitsuwa?
I think Mistuwa is higher quality... this place is certainly bigger... has a wider selection of products, and many are cheaper than Mitsuwa for the same item
I've only been to the one in San Diego. I'd know it was a chain store.
It sure is!
There’s one if these in San Diego? Is it smaller or the same size as this? Is it actually called Don Quixote?
Slow down bro.

Not yet. But doing the Source is on my list!

can you go a little slower on the toys? i’m losing my mind over the Samurai Shodown but can’t see 😅 😭
Yes, please. it's so fast and blurry. Can you please stop and show things? I am guessing maybe it was not easy shooting inside there if you don't have permission.
Slower. More close-ups. It’s like you’re walking around with a VHS recorder on your shoulder.
The food court there is pretty good
The perfect place to get sushi grade fish with out knowing what sushi grade is.
Hah
Do they have handicap electric shopping carts for us disabled people
One just opened in Kailua, Hi.
Neat!
You must come here alot!
I do :)
You need to pan slowly! You move the camera way too fast. 95% of your camera work is a dizzying blur!
I’ve never shot a walking video tour before, but I bet it’s hard to strike a balance between slow camera work and short, uptempo videos that keep the audience engaged. Perhaps Chris can share his perspective. 📹
BE NICE BRO
Thanks Burton -- Indeed that's the balance.. and also not cause too much of a scene some place so that they don't ask me to stop 😀
I actually had to speed the rate lol
This is shot at a similar movement speed that I see in other walk-around videos, none of it is as blurry as that of violent panning…
i remember not liking the layout of this place. and it’s not up to the cleanliness standards imo
Definitely could be cleaner for sure
cool
This is my local market
Can’t see much, got dizzy from your camera technique 😵💫
Yum Pookie! lol
Please slow down when scanning, otherwise it's a nice blur
EL CAMINO JC ALONDRA PARK, LEUZINGER HS LAWNDALE 83
Sad they don't just make this a Don Don Donki store lol
Hot food available after 11 am
Cute
Where is most famous JAPANESE KNIVES? Hello’s 🌚😭
Can't get gaga oveJapanese, shipped, fruits and vegetables in California, the greatest producer of fresh produc.why?? buy rice fromJapan, when I can buy organic rice grown in California. Psst!
Korean in East coast is just as big
You don't need to go to Japan, huh?
So expensive. wtf is going on. Is it sub-erewon level ?

Anyone stealing?
Too closed to compton.
Either they paid you or you have some bad taste. The tokyo central bentos fish and meat is some of the worst!
I guess I have bad taste 😀
Overprice. I like H-mart and Zion market
American Don Quixote looks like Donqi and Trader Joe's had a love child.
