5 days ago I thought I was a pretty solid thief on Outlands. 4 days ago I watched this video and realized I was a noob at best. This is a very good tutorial, certainly the best at breaking down the mechanics step by step. Spent an afternoon getting hotkeys set correclty, found an oblivious donor, then did a 75% chance last target 'ride by' on my trusted llama - BAM, got the goods... They didn't know what hit them and I was two screens away in just a moment. Thank you, this brings new life to my thieving.

I don't think it works anymore like that. The steal last target doesn't work without the person's backpack being opened for me

This has to be the best instructional video I have ever seen
One crazy important tip : use a macro to equip a magical wizard hat then back to your regular helm to get -5 stamina, that way you can't accidentally bump into someone and reveal since you dont have max stam to "shove them out of the way"

I just happened to run across this browsing the web. UO came out the day I got out of the Air Force and I immediately bought it. I played a thief for many years on Seige Perilous. I never thought a server like Outlands would come along. It's amazing. I just gm'ed my thief skills yesterday morning and in one day, ran out of bank space from stealing lol! Thank you for your videos and I can't tell you how excited I am to have found this server and got back into the game!! These guys did a great job on the server... it's like they read my mind on what would make a great one.

@@doctorvonbrown881 you can macro stealing in a day or two tops. Stealing on outlands is way better than retail was. You should check it out. I'm 4 months in and still havent seen much that there is to do.

Way back in 1998 I used UO Extreme to use "last target" to do a "drive by" and steal someones house key in the woods of Yew. That was before there were any legal programs to utilize last target or before it was part of the client. Ended up getting my account banned. Not proud of it but i'm sure some people here appreciate the history! RIP HunterArrowstorm of Lake Superior.
Man.. years of UO Playing and i never noticed this Last Target "trick" where the target is persistent marked even when the bag or whatever is closed... Awesome tip mate !!!

Just seeing if my favorite old way of stealing worked:
1: be hidden
2: snoop
3. Set target on item to steal
4. Hit steal
5. Wait 10 seconds (I set a macro to equip a fishing pole after hitting steal, wait 10 seconds, and I equip so I knew I was good)
6. Use macro that does last target + hide
7. You should steal it and almost insta hide and then can stealth away.
This was a game changer for me on UO forever and wished I had known that trick back in 1998 :)
I also love to target the weapon they are holding and set as last target. When the recall I steal it and they disappear and I have the weapon :) that was always great.

I was just wondering if you can script the teleport steal that features in the Shadowspire clip? Would it be possible for Razor to register when you've teleported (via spell or rope) and then immediately perform steal last?
Hey man your videos are great I just started outlands a week ago and am enjoying the noobie experience. I typically don’t look at guides etc because I’d rather enjoy playing the game without all the technical stuff but here, I’m doing ok getting my thief setup but I don’t understand or know how your Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence are raised or lowered. What’s involved in doing that?
And is there any particular clothing that helps a thief out or is it whatever we want to wear?
And instead of wrestling could I put that into archery to maybe do some stealth PKing?

If you wait till the system says you are ready to continue stealthing, you can activate stealing and then walk to use both skills at the same time no 10second wait in between
Love your videos as a new and up and coming thief. Have a question, I have a key that sets last target and the steal last target script you show but what is the last target hot key for? Isn't it set last target the steal last target? And last but not least how do you say random things that I seen overhead after a successful steal. Like Ill take that or something to that affect? I played uo back in 96 till about 2006. When they added disarm to the game I used to open somebody's paperdoll and target their weapon with say anatomy, I would run past once disarm run by again steal last target. Now I got your 2h Betsy

There's an option in the game's option menu (not razor) for show auras which does it.

Hey just wondering what resolution you play on. I'm new to Ultima Online and my monitor is a little too big for the game (1140p). Do you have any advice?
My monitor is 2560x1440, and the game just checking Borderless Window in the video settings seems to work great for me. Game is maximized appropriately to the resolution and doesn't appear tiny or anything.

Running a thief pre-aos osi was still the most fun ive ever had gaming.
Only setting you seemed to blow through quickly was the range indicator. Ive gone through razor and through the game client and cant find this .. Any help would be appreciated
I don't know if it was because of any update or something a sysmsg tells me: "The requested target is out of range, last target not executed."
When you targeted the axe I thought you were going to explain disarm thieves. Do they still have those? I haven't played in years.
I tried playing this game for 10mins over 20 years ago during a free trial at the time. I just kept getting killed right as I logged into the game. You'd think they'd have you in a noob zone but no. I rage quit and never played again. Now in 2023 I'm thinking about playing again cuz I just beat Ultima 7

Hey Kaz, didnt remember you showing what you set your object delay at. I probably missed it. I tried max but items snap back the just as fast. I cant see if they are hiding bags? Any thoughts?
You have to set the delay to 4000 and then check the box above it for enable queueing, then you can drag stuff off and dig to the bottom. I was going to make a video showing specifically how to do it soon!

Won't affect stealing from other players much in general I think! Mostly adds options for PvM folks, especially for new shadow aspect builds.
@@KazumaOutlands Well it's for me a downer that you don't have the 25% chance from being disguised no more :(
@@wheatley9729 There was a REDUCTION of 25% if you didn't have a disguise kit before, now there is no reduction so it's the same as before but better, since you can forget the kit and still be fine and with the kit changes, you can change yourself how you want and better. It's nothing but positive changes, no downside.

Hey Kazuma, what is the script you are using to say a message after successfully stealing from stealth at 33:19 , I see the script for the break stealth/rp message in the video but not this one
Same setup as the break stealth one, just with different text on a different hotkey that I hit after stealing successfully.

I would like to start a thief character what do you suggest starting skills on the newb island?
The only important one is Magery, since it gives you the free spellcasting tokens that help level it beyond 50. Otherwise the rest you can buy to 50 from an NPC, so choice is yours!
why does the rescale container trick not work on items in the top left corner? that sounds kind of arbitrary. also awesome video, thanks for that!
The way most video games are made, 2D systems have a coordinate space that starts from the top left (0,0). Positive X is to the right, positive Y is down. So things scale relative to that, not from the center. So this means things in the top left don't get repositioned as you rescale.

Steal last target doesn't seem to work for me. If I don't have the bag the item is in open, I get a message saying the item is too far away. Any idea why?
If the bag is closed and I try steal last target:
"the target is too far away, could not perform action"
Without moving, if I open the bag and try the exact same thing I can steal it.
Make sure last target range check is off in razor!

Why is it that sometimes i turn grey and sometimes i stay blue? Thank you for the awesome content!
It's random chance based on number of players around you. Each player adds a 10% chance to turn grey upon stealing. So you always have a 10% chance, and if there are 10+ players around you, it's a 100% chance to turn grey.
wish you could show us how to set up those overhead messages for steps
In Razor - Display/Counters > Overhead Messages. You set them up for the system message that says how many steps you have left.
IK this is a 2 year old video but is there any chance that you could share all your keybinds for even the most basic stuff. Im new and I'm struggling to figure out where to put my keybinds and what i want where since i don't know the systems of the game. Id love to just copy your keybinds and get used to them that way and for some reason i have not found a single shred of info on this for a thief

Ctrl + E = Use Stealing Skill
Ctrl + R = Set Last Target
Shift + E = Steal Last Target script
Ctrl + R = Last Object + Steal combo (to pop a pouch & insta steal)
Ctrl + Q = Hide
Shift + Q = Stealth
F1 = Last Object
F2 = Bag Hotkey 1
F3 = Bag Hotkey 2
Shift + F2 = Set Bag Hotkey 1
Shift + F3 = Set Bag Hotkey 2
1 = Teleport
Alt + 1 = Teleport & Rope combo
2 = Wall of Stone
3 = Greater Heal
4 = Cure
Shift + 1 = Magic Reflect
Shift + 2 = Reactive Armor
Shift + 3 = Invisibility Self
K = toggle auto stealth
T = break stealth w/ text macro
F6 = Use lockpicks
Shift + H = smokebomb
Alt + D = Detect HIdden

the steal last target macro never works for me. I can target the item in teh main bag, run by them and press the steal macro and it doesn't do anything. says it can't find it
That probably means you need to disable the option in Razor called "last target range check". By default it is ON and set to 12, which means last target will clear as soon as you're 12 tiles away. Turn that setting OFF and last target will persist forever.

I had tons of fun back in old days playing UO stealing from red clans that was camping a safe zone lol. Got all their regs once they couldn't cast any spells lol.

It's under Display/Counters tab, then the Counters subtab. I never think to look for it there. "Auto search new containers".

It's super quick! You could get going after just one day of working on your skills overnight. 100 Stealth is fine (don't need 120), and Magery might take a fair amount of reagents, but you can scavenge them from high end dungeons that people leave behind as a brand new character very easily.

how do you get their bag to stay open when they run out of range
That's just how the game works! If YOU move, it'll close, but if you're standing still, it'll stay open even if they move pretty far. It'll close if they get further than 10 tiles or so, but otherwise stays open.

So I shift R the item, and if i want to do a drive by i hotkey that macro right when im next to the person? My problem is that i have to actually click on the person to do so. Or is there another hotkey to use it on the person?
@@dkahns51 Shouldn't need to click them if it's setup correctly. Should be as simple as:

Nevermind, i forgot to put a space in Last target. What does the Shift Alt R do though?
@@dkahns51 That was before I realized I could simply use lasttarget from the razor API, so it was a hotkey to manually execute 'last target' when steal gets primed for internal macro reasons. No longer necessary to bind that :)
Have you ever steal something from a thief who just stole or had something stolen by a thief after stealing as a thief?
Honor amongst thieves! I try not to steal from other thieves unless they're breaking the thief code. :)

Yup, they do.

How can you make that bag so small itemed?
I increase the scale of the bag but not the items inside it, so it's the bag that is bigger, not the items that are smaller. Helps quite a bit!

Yup, almost all of this is still relevant since it's the core foundations. The only thing that is out of date generally is the template in the very beginning, I'd recommend my updated one in the part 2 video.

It was definitely a thing yesterday, even though people have the option to send to the bank. It's not as great, but it's still good. And boring lol

Why are you all not using this as a reference?
Because sadly much of UO's defining mechanics are too hardcore for the majority of today's gamers, full PvP and loot etc. And making a game as in depth as UO in 3D would be a big project.
Even though in real life i would NEVER steal or lie or cheat or hurt , i found this video extremally helpful. I have stolen once in real life , I will admit. Although I am not proud of it, not one bit. I took from the rich and stole from the poor and that's why my mother doesn't love me no more. I grew up in a small town, on a hill when I was young, that much I can still remember now even with the chinese spies trying to prey those memories away from me. The hill was somewhat pumpkin shaped and I knew not the weight of what that truly meant at the time. Maybe I was too young to see it, maybe I was just blinded by my own lust for stealing or maybe, just maybe i was onto something. Something BIG and i knew this would be it. I rounded up the ol
gang back together for just one last time and you know what we almost pulled it off. . but then it happened , i opened my menu and the youtube video didn''t explain where it was and just told me to find it myself, it was all so fast , the police start coming as im waiting for ad 1 of 2 to skip and i get handcuffed, chin to the ground pebbles on my neck i can still feel it to this day . The cold asphalt against the grains of my beard hairs as I hear them screaming put your hands up and then a beam of light see it. The chains unlink, I am free, I am not longer prisoner to the common Man and I have been let go . but wait , there's a catch They tell me I can only go home free if I spy for the chinese one last time. Freeze frame I wake up , it was all a dream , I hadn't even started the first ad on the youtube video yet and the heist is yet to be started, but me I ywasn't just sleeping that whole time, I was gaining precious intellect on the mission that I would use later on during and because of that I say this video is ok I give it like 4 stars out of 6 and I'll ike but I WONT subscribe and i might click the bell but only by accident .

you need to be rich as ferk to afford the ethy mount - otherwise you basically cant steal outside if a dungeon
