IMO Shelf should be the very first thing you get after getting aspected and codexes purchased. I waited over a year to get mine and it was a total game changer.
Guess the server got a lot more traffic... I've played a bit during covid lockdown, which was 2 years after launch and managed to place an 8x8 not too far from one of the towns. I think they might need some new rules for multiple home ownership and to discourage land hoarding by virtually inactive accounts (something like make the first 3 refreshes as is and after that you can only refresh if you've played x hours on that account, with the whole process resetting after enough playtime).

I'm just thinking of a solution for people who just log in once every blue moon to refresh in the off-chance they might or might not return to the game. When I quit I gave that 8x8 to the first [Young] dude that didn't look like someone's alt.

You can manage with good restock macros as you gear up the essentials first, but yep its amazing.

land has always been a hot commodity in all UO games. you can use an Inn room when you start. thats what i did for the first 6 months i was playing.

@deltav864 even that would hurt me. i run a guild so i have my house, the vendor house, and guild house. and i really only log onto my main account.

No. I'm pretty sure it's unlimited to 999999 space. Which if you fill that much up. You're a god.
