Used ones are a good affordable option. Studiologic MP-113 midi bass pedals are what I use. I think Jamie was triggering the Toro with them, in this video.
@@AlexVonCrank They're not exactly affordable. The MP-113 and 117 are currently selling for 444 and 489eu at Thomann. The most affordable option is the Doepfer MBP25 kit, still above 249eu, not counting the need to build the case.
Every Police cover band needs this gear. Until the arrival of the Toro most of them didn't use base pedals because a second hand Taurus costs as much as a kidney. Now there's an affordable alternative that sounds identical. Thanks for sharing !
I just bought the Behringer Toro plus a studiologic 13 key footpedal and I absolutely love it! The sounds are absolutely fantastic, so rich and muscular! I became aware of the Taurus after seeing pictures of Sting playing it with the Police and hearing it in their live performances; now I’m absolutely obsessed with the song Xanadu and getting into Rush too 🤣 am a guitarist but wanted to add a new dimension to playing music and the foot bass pedals are great fun!
@@stephenwest673 I was 12 when my older sisters BF took me to see Rush (she had no interest) at Geo Wash Univ on their Fly by Night tour in '75. Blew my mind and I've always been a huge fan since. As a bass/key player, Geddy was my hero!!
My ears can't discern any differences. For live use, as in playing back classic prog rock, I feel that the Toro is a better fit than the Minitaur due to its presets on the front.
@martinallott572 definitely, large differences, there will never be a pure replication of anything no matter what the cost. If I didn't already have the T1, I would own this beauty.
Good test. I've owned one Mark I Taurus back in the 70s and 80s. Played in a band and when band dissolved I sold the Taurus for No.Money.At.All. Smack on head deserved. The coolest thing with the Moog Taurus was the ability to set the oscillators slightly out of tune with no loss of bass. No wobbly phase cancellation at all. Pure magic. How do the Behringer Toro handle this I wonder?
Behringer is straight up killing it with these recreations. I had the chance back in the late 80's to buy a set of Taurus 1's from our live sound mixer but passed. He wanted a whopping $250 for them! Ain't no way I was gonna pay that kind of money, lol. Had I only known!
the note attack on the 2nd one isn't consistent across the keyboard. not sure which is which, drifting oscillators are a thing i think. don't quote me!
The second one is the Behringer and I think it’s because Jamie recorded this with a microphone so you’re hearing the speaker of the behringer maybe being further than the Moog.
Make sure you have both in the same midi channel , and download the manual for the mp113 and study the functions of the pedals and the four switches up top. I also had some challenges getting my pedals to “ work correctly “ but I finally figured it all out.
Now, if only Behringer made an affordable pedal controller!

@Asmuk I said "used ones" are affordable. I got mine for less than half what they are new.
Great comparison - I have the T1 and T3 and at just £149, the Toro sounds huge value.

Rush fan since 76…saw them a dozen times from 1979 onwards…Hemispheres is their ultimate album in my book…welcome to the club 😀
Cool which foot pedal did you buy ?
Was it the Studiologic MP-113 that you used with the Toro?

I'm completely agreeing with you!
Well played Behringer!
There is definitely a difference, not huge but it is there. Maybe listen on some different speakers?

Only downside is that the octave button is instantaneous unlike the original where it wouldn’t happen until you hit another note.
Keep in mind youtube compressed all audio and caps at 128 kpbs. It makes sound comparison videos kindauseless
Behringer are knocking it out of the park with these desktop/ rack style synths!
Thanks for this! Sounds perfect!
Just the clip I needed to convince me, I need this for my Roland PK-5s
Is the audio in the video captured by a mic in the room?
Yeah…. I’m DEFINITELY getting the Toro and some Studiologic pedals
@@Farewelltokingz understandable.
How did you get the Toro to work with the mp-113? I can’t get it to work.

You can do exactly the same but I am currently finding in a warmer room the behringer starts to go sharp and needs retuning
@@thevales100 You can do the same on the Behringer but does it SOUND the same as old Taurus meaning deep bass with no phase cancellation?
@@bribedant7302I can confirm, no phase cancel.
thanks for the video!

I'd love to hear 5 examples without the room mic; one being Behringer and the others being originals. Then try and pick out the imposter.
wow.... I just spent/saved a lot of money ! Behringer
I can't hear a dad gum difference. Prices?
T1 is thousands of dollars, Toro is 250
wow , amazizing i will buy a toro !
You can also use this for synths

What's up with the behringer, why does it sound like plastic?
I think you mean the Moog. This was recorded with a microphone and the actual pedals click when you step on them.
@@Farewelltokingz no. I mean what i said.
@@mirkomarkovic3438 While I hate Behringer as a company, they sound pretty much identical here and hence I own one.

Ask a stupid question and get no answer!
It seems that it is too difficult to play them with the feet. It could cause leg and even back pain. :S
Toro works with any MIDI controller. Which come in keyboards. and sequencers.
You just set up release/decay so you don’t have to press very long.
I think you suppose to play those pedals with your feet. You might want to give it a try!
What pedalboard is that with the Toro? Looks great!
Studiologic MP 113
Moog!!
I don't know which is which, but I like the sound of the one on the left better.
The Moog is the one on the left and the Behringer is the one on the right that is better built and cost a lot more!
@@edcollins9377Actually you have it backwards. Moog on right.
@@evankeal i DO BELIEVE YOU ARE RIGHT! DYSLEXIA!
Thatll do for me
Moog is more analog sounding, Behringer is more Behringer sounding😂
The Behringer actually sounds the same or better.
Moog pedals are more noisy
El de la derecha tiene un sonido más lleno, el de la izquierda suena a pedorreta barata
The Moog sounds a bit more powerful like a full can of compressed air vs one thats half empty
The Taurus sounds better to my ears.
Exact same sound. Compact. Easy to use.
$250 vs $5000.
All's I'm sayin.
