A certain astrologically inspired bass synth dominated the emerging prog-rock scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, supplying heaps of low-end, analog thunder with the ease of organ-derived foot pedals, a bi-oscillator monophonic architecture, and a sonorous, 24dB/octave lowpass filter. With exacting precision, Behringer has crafted a faithful homage to the iconic bass synth that increases its range of sonic and performance possibilities while retaining its incisive lows. Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater’s modern-day synth warrior, shows you what it means to seize the Toro bass by the horns with its classic sound and contemporary potential converge... Check it out!

Thanks for this,. Mine arrived yesterday, so still early days. Driving it from a set of Roland PK5 bass pedals, so full Taurus recreation The Toro button is every thing I hoped for perfect for e. g. Don't Stand So Close to Me by The Police and Turn it on Again by Genesis. I've had a little play with the variable setting, and I think it'll be good, from a more normal hand controller.
If there is one thing I feel missing, is that the foot filter slider on the Taurus is now a knob, if there was a socket to plug in an over riding expression pedal, that would be the real icing on the cake. Same goes for the volume.
Behringer seem to think no one want's to play this with foot pedals, but that is exactly what I want it for.
I need to see how the thru goes as I reckon I can carry on the signal to drive my Pro-e when required.

I think this is a fair one to have cloned. Tauruses are harder to find and buy everyday. Because people love them!

If... I was playing guitar in a prog type band I would get this and either a studiologic or crumar footboard and mount the little Kuh on a stand. This is THEE synth for guitar players. BUT, since I do more ambient, my footboard runs a deepmind12. I won't lie, my really complex synths sort of scare me and the user manuals are 100+ pages of trauma. So, in this context, the Toro and solina are perfect . They are what they are and that, ironically, is sort of fresh on 50yr old designs

For that application, I feel like less is more. A great modern synth that's small and perfect for bass is the 0-Coast by MakeNoise. Most of its demos online focus on experimental sounds, but without plugging in a single patch cable, the bass timbres its capable of are _off the charts!_
Until now I never considered using a 0-Coast like that, but now it's so obvious; small, easy to use, and thunderous thick bass. 'Would love to see it used by somebody who really knows how to play with pedals!

If I was starting my rig over from scratch, this would be high on my list. I like it better than the Minitaur I briefly owned.

Why so? I’ve wanted the minitaur for a min, this seems more mis range driven and not as subbass driven like minitaur?

I can make those sounds El natural just let me go fill up on some Taco Bell. Just teasing you but honestly I have no clue why I would ever want to hear those sounds in any music at all. I do love Berenger they have great stuff at great prices!

Considering the number of bands who used the original Taurus that this was cloned from, there are several millions of people who wanted to hear sounds from this bass synth in their music.

@@davolbc7 months late, but it’s because it has a very distinctive low end, and the simple preset controls means it’s great for putting on the floor with midi pedals. It also has linear VCOs, which are special compared to a minimoog in that the VCOs don’t phase cancel out or thin from detuning.
