Looks Great Disc Brakes Awesome. My First Vehicle a 62 Ford Pickup F100 Stepside. I was 16 it had a 292 V8 a 4 Speed and 4:11 Posie rear-end, I put 4 barrel manifold and carburetor, a Tach, Corvair Bucket Seats. the best sound system in the 70s. Installed Headphones plugged in the Dash. Chromed Defroster Vents. ash tray and glove box, Chrome Steelies rims Front and rear 15 inch wide the in rear Stainless 66 ford Hub caps. Loved that truck.
When setting the front wheel bearings.. you are supposed to spin the rotor while tightening the nut, to the torque spec,ed then back the nut off 1/4 turn. This ensures the bearings seat properly.
I've been following you for a while now and love what you're doing. Just wanted to say, THANKS!!!! You lit a fire. At 40 years older than you I just picked up a 1977 F100 with a non running 351, no reverse, but no rust. Here we go again. LOL
I am building a 1966 F100 with a 302 over on my channel, also dealing with valve train issues. Had some comunications with another 302 guy that said he drilled and pinned his rocker arm studs to keep them in place. Just thought I would mention that. Keep the videos comming.
I pulled the whole brake system out of my 68 last fall. All new stainless steel brake lines, four wheel disk now. Did my fronts sort of like you did. I just ordered spindles for a 73. And the went with all the upgrades. Cross drilled an vented rotors. Six piston calipers on the front, four piston on the rear. And the hp pads. I bought the kit for the rear.
no thats only if you want power brakes. then youll need a brake booster and a vacuum in the intake for the assist to work. brake line up behind the tire will be differnt but will just go straight into the line and bleed your done.
It's a little late now, but you should have drilled and tapped a drain plug for your rear end! Did it on my 74 F100 and it makes for a much cleaner gear change. Also gives you something to jack it up on. Just put a piece of 2x4 on Jack pad. Just a thought. Check out Lugnuts for a rear disc swap kit. Going to get a kit for my 77 F250 w/Dana 60, but they have good kits for the 9" rearend too.😊
Awesome video craig. I have a 74 long bed. Before I shipped it to myself where in the Uk my mechanic in Arkansas overhauled the breaks for me. Colour coding the callipers to. One question I have. I have 15/10 and 15/8 craigar ss wheels on it. I think it sits ok. But I would like better handling. Can I just put a set of coil overs on it. Would that give me a better ride. And handling. ?? Thanks mate keep them videos coming love seeing your progress. Thanks again
You have come a long ways Craig. I have to say that I pulled my hair out a few times but your on it now. You know more about camshafts than I do so single plane manifolds might just be the ticket for you. I felt like it compromised brake vacuum and so didn't care for that single plane but things do change an your way ahead of me there. good luck as its been frustrating for you for sure
Like up my boys posts how generous and cool of him to build old cars and teach and even give part numbers on every vid he lets u know where to get stuff. if I had a 2wd or saw these years ago pry save a lot of my time and money by copying his vids for some portions of my 78 , love watching ur vids even though we don’t have similar stuff I love to learn more !! Keep up the grind and one day u can restore other people’s cars 🤟🏽 that’d be a dream for me haha
Mannnnnn I just told William, Greaserthoughts, that I was getting the shakes from Craig/Fred/Greaserthoughts withdrawals!!!! So glad y’all posted today! Maybe it’ll give me some drive to work on my junk tomorrow! Bought a Weber/edelbrock carb at scrapyard yesterday n a buddy of mine started stripping a gold duster for his dart project!
Ok I have a 71 f100 and I’ve installed DJM ibeams on it. I’m wanting to swap it over to disc brakes. I have a 75-79 disc brake setup from a donor truck. Will my DJM ibeams work with the 75-79 spindles or will I need new DJM ibeams for the 75-79 spindles?
Perfect stance with those wheels and tires for sure. Thinking about turning my 17 f150 5.0 into a lowered street truck. Currently leveled on 33s. Love the vids, i can only hope my channel grows like yours lol.
Since you didn't set the pinion angle with the truck sitting on all 4 tires with the full weight of the truck you might want to check that again to make sure the rear end is 3 degrees lower than the transmissions angle. Can't wait to see the new heads with screw in studs, that should finish everything up.
All very cool, but I had to miss something- I saw the disk brakes go on but didn’t see any brake hoses or tie rods etc. Then it was back on the ground and the wrap up was talking about fixing the engine rocker problem?
how's the drum at that much HP ? i dont find any conversion kit for my ram w100 and wanted to swap something strong also.. wondering if it was not that bad
It would have been nice to have gone with disc brakes on the rear too.... Also you should look into a later Fox body style master cylinder. They make multiple bore sizes and they look great under the hood!! They work great as well.
Sounds good I just got a 1969 f100 lwb with a 428 and a 4speed 2wd and I want to do a power disc brake conversion on it but finding the parts you said to get are hard to get where I live and I have an 80 f150 2wd and was just curious
Looks real awesome dam that truck has came a long way..been watching your videos since you first bought it.. amazing what's transformation it's gone to before and after..keep up the good work
The one clip of the rear axle it look red as can be. At other angles it's copper, is it a color flip pearl in the paint? I'm about to completely tear my 79 apart, pull the cab off and begin the full body restoration while I get the block and heads machined and prepped for rebuild. Gotta also finish the basement! ugh, I'd rather be working on the truck!
Brother, your truck is looking MEAN! Love the new cooper cobra look. Can you please tell me the size of your new tires? Keep up the amazing transformation. A Big hug from Puerto Rico.
easiest way and best way to replace the cap without ever damaging them is a half inch socket that goes over it and covers the edges then just tap it in.
Greetings Craig. I have a question. I noticed the u bolts holding the differential to the leaf springs have a bit of an excess in length, are you going to trim those off at some point? Love the content brother! Thank you..
First. Yeah O Reilly’s auto parts. I’m wearing their hat now. Second I was always taught to fill the dust cap full of grease for the bearings so they will have extra protection for lubrications
Back in the seventies we used to paint our rear ends fluorescent orange and other bright colors because we had our cars jacked up and you can see our rear end from any angle... hahaha
i converted my 69 ranger to pwr steering. it will not self center. when the truck is sitting still you can just get the steering wheel started and it will go until it bottoms out by itself. any suggestions
Good stuff bro , like that color, it stands out . it was copper right ?. next video can you talk any plans to the inside like if your going to do a custom audio ? .
Dude that’s awesome!!! Love your channel! It’s inspiring me to get off my butt and do something with my 78 f100. You still check your P.O. Box! Rad!! Sending you something tomorrow!
Big thanks for the Shout out! I appreciate it alot Craig! Keep up the great content!

Glad to see that bad boy is on the ground take care buddy
Very nice, very clean, very impressive.........Now the rear end is crying for a disk brake conversion.
Omg one my favorite young dudes to watch. I love ur drive to repair ur old vehicles and drive them not trailer queens.
Not to point out the obvious, but I think you forgot the dust shield, its actually needed to protect the inner seal and bearing
Did all this to my 68 F100. Put a Lincoln Continental 4V V8 in it too. Carbed with MSD box. Yes a front wheel drive engine bolted to a C4 trans.
Man she’s looking sweet!! Definitely want a 68/71 myself! Be a nice addition to my 01 7.3!!
Don't you have to change the master cylinder and residual valve as well..
no thats only if you want power brakes. then youll need a brake booster and a vacuum in the intake for the assist to work. brake line up behind the tire will be differnt but will just go straight into the line and bleed your done.
floor jack rubber pad will help, trucks looking good bro

Love your truck! It's been crazy seeing it progress from long tube headers to this!
I did the same swap on my 67. Did your 15x8 with 3” backspace wheels clear the calipers?
Good to see it back on the ground! Probably my favorite youtube channel. Keep up the great work.
Awesome video craig. I have a 74 long bed. Before I shipped it to myself where in the Uk my mechanic in Arkansas overhauled the breaks for me. Colour coding the callipers to. One question I have. Love the fact some young guys are still ding the old classics very cool videos and I'm sure your very supported by us older guys keep up the good work
Did you change the brake master because drum brake masters hold pressure so your brakes will drag in the front
Awesome to see the truck on the ground again man, might have to try and make an RC replica of it one day and maybe he red galaxie maybe
Ive been thinking about a disk conversion on my 76 F100. I wasnt real sure how to do that to begin with. Keep the good content
Finally great truck content love the work you done
The disc brakes conversion looks awesome!
Sweet truck enjoy the vids keep up the great work

Not gonna lie, the i beams and rear diff would look pretty badass with some pin striping 🤙

Can't wait to hear it fire up and go down the road
Is the king pin diameter different on the disk brake conversion
The copper is a really kick ass touch. Separates from the black underbody and compliments the patina
What did you do for the master cylinder?
I like the stance on this truck, tires fit nicely filling in the gap like we see on stock trucks.
Sean is straight ripping that vape when you were installing the 3rd member 🤣

Excellent video. Funny I ''m rebuilding the rearend of my 64 Galaxie right now.
Man the truck is looking good
Would love to see more of Franklins truck

Been waiting for this! Can't wait to see the engine upgrades. Your truck should handle and drive sooo much better now!

Love the videos Craig! Keep up the great work! Super stoked to see it all buttoned up! ✊🏼
What size are your wheels n tires they look dope af
is there a reason you left off the backing plates or shields on front
Your video is worth the wait, keep it up brother 😌
Are the I beams different on the 73
What about the screw in rocker studs, did you buy some?
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
Haven’t seen it for a bit so I must ask. What’s up with the cv chassis?
Will 1980 beams off a f150 fit the 67-82 f100 ctaig?
Couldn't say on that one but If you cut the beam mounts off of that F150 I don't see why you couldn't make them work.
Sounds good I just got a 1969 f100 lwb with a 428 and a 4speed 2wd and I want to do a power disc brake conversion on it but finding the parts you said to get are hard to get where I live and I have an 80 f150 2wd and was just curious
In 1980 Ford went to unequal length I-beam. The steering arms were also relocated to the front of the I-beam. So a swap is really not easily done.
Thank you for this info
@@davidwright3390 btw I really like that engine trany combo in your truck. Have always wanted a 428 but never found one in my snack bracket
That’s an awesome setup. What wheels are those? Kick ass truck.
Looks real awesome dam that truck has came a long way..been watching your videos since you first bought it.. amazing what's transformation it's gone to before and after..keep up the good work
Why did you not re-install the dust shields?
Where did you get the front end at and how much plz
The one clip of the rear axle it look red as can be. At other angles it's copper, is it a color flip pearl in the paint? Man I just ordered wilwood disc brake kit for my f100 I’m so ready
You couldn't find the spindles for the swap? They're very hard to find.
Hi so I have a 69 f100 with drums and I would like to go to disc? Would this work for my truck? Finding a set of spindles and breaks from a 70f100?
What tire size are u running
Looks awesome great work Craig
Brother, your truck is looking MEAN!
Love the new cooper cobra look. Can you please tell me the size of your new tires? Keep up the amazing transformation. A Big hug from Puerto Rico.
I’m about to do the disc swap on my ‘69, I’d love to see how you tackle the master cylinder and proportioning valve.
Did you find spindles? I'm having a very hard time finding spindles.
You went to all the trouble painting the axle tube. You should have also painted the pumpkin.
Coming along great man.
Just a suggestion, pack the wheel bearings with grease. It’s looking good though keep it up.
easiest way and best way to replace the cap without ever damaging them is a half inch socket that goes over it and covers the edges then just tap it in.
What’s a good cheap way to put disk brakes on the back
What wheels are those and where did you get them??
Looks nice, but you forgot to install the brake backing plates.
Your truck would look beautiful being repainted that same copper color.
Hi Craig you must have good neighbours to put up with all the work you do on trucks and cars
Brand of the disk brakes?? Which kit is??
Awesome stuff Brother!
Great job 👍🏻 Awesome content as Always 😊💪🏼💯🇺🇸
GREAT JOB CRAIGGY FROM YOUR PAL THE VERMONSTER
Greetings Craig. I have a question. I noticed the u bolts holding the differential to the leaf springs have a bit of an excess in length, are you going to trim those off at some point?
Love the content brother! Thank you..
I tried to press those sleeves out out with a socket and a vice, it wasn’t fun I ended up taking them to the machine shop too 🤣
First. Yeah O Reilly’s auto parts. I’m wearing their hat now. Second I was always taught to fill the dust cap full of grease for the bearings so they will have extra protection for lubrications

“ IF YOUR NOT FIRST--THEN YOUR LAST 👍👍🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Good Gawd!!!! That slick though!!!!
i converted my 69 ranger to pwr steering. it will not self center. when the truck is sitting still you can just get the steering wheel started and it will go until it bottoms out by itself. any suggestions
Thanks Craig
Hey Craig, can you do the knuckle and disc brake swap with a 3/4 ton?
thank god you ended up using new rotors/hubs. I was cringing when you said you were going to reuse the old ones haha
Why didn't you remove the leafspring perches on the top of the rear. Not bashing just asking
Great work man!
Good stuff bro , like that color, it stands out . it was copper right ?.
next video can you talk any plans to the inside like if your going to do a custom audio ? .
I prefer the white letter on the outside of tires
Dude that’s awesome!!! Love your channel! It’s inspiring me to get off my butt and do something with my 78 f100. You still check your P.O. Box! Rad!! Sending you something tomorrow!
Yeah man, Thanks I appreciate it.
Nice , hey wanna come too Canada and do same to my F100 🤔 lol
I like your snow
You can make the break line yourself Out of stateless steel Or get the gold brake line
those rims are sick
Looks good man
