You know, I'm starting to think that Giygas is having a lot of trouble finding hench-animals to kill Ness.

I'm actually also a fan of limited item-space as a concept. However, I think key items and equipment should not take up spaces, similarly to how they don't in Paper Mario.

I used to think that butterflies were enemies so I avoided them until thankfully I decided to "fight" them and discovered my lifesaver right around when getting to the town
Fun fact, (thanks to the series Boundary Break for filling me in about this fact), originally they were supposed to be enemies. Why they were changed to not be an enemy, who knows?

Blue_Boo It would take an obscene amount of grinding early game to make that a sweep anyways (least for Ness. The Titanic Ant can and will easily mop the floor with lower leveled players, especially new ones).

People, I have a new conspiracy theory, Ness is actually Emile! WELL, *HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THEM TOGETHER IN THE SAME ROOM!?* They definitely look the same, and they both can use magic. Whenever Emile gazes upon the glory of a baseball bat, his eyes glint, he remembers his long musical journey. Choosing this game was certainly no coincidence, and best prepare for what is to come. He will put on that old red cap once more, and no one will be safe!

To be more specific, the Rowdy Mouse's Gut stat is set to 225, which if I'm correct, is higher than almost every other enemy in the game

Of course! Leafside's town tune in Emile's ACNL LP from Egbert comes from Earthbound. I kinda figured with Emile having a soft spot for this and Mother 3 that it was from one of those games. I think this might be one of my all time favourite SNES games just from watching this. Thank you Emile for showing me such a beautiful game.

GOSH the music and sound design in this game is so shockingly good. The use of sampling, the ambient atmospheres, the BBC radiophonic workshop-like sci-fi psychedelia, the fact that the soundtrack as a whole explores so many different genres and stylings, all of that is incredibly inspiring

I love earthbound. The craziest thing happened on my current play through. My vitality went up by 4 and my health went up by 41. I was so shocked I took a picture.

Going back through watching this play through again out of boredom. Easily my favorite play through of all time.

While I see where you’re coming from, would it still be too much to ask for separate inventory for equipment and key items? That way, you still have limited space for consumables but don’t have to worry so much about needless inventory management.
Kinda like the first Pokémon game, really.

I don't know why, but the way Chugga said "Ness abandoned the cookie" remined me of something. It reminds me of something from "Over the Hedge," the parts where Hammy says "But I like the cookie."
It's kind of refreshing having a video that isn't super long yet still manages to get out the necessary story bits.
As much as I like this game, I prefer Mother 3 personally.

Watching chuggas videos is so nostalgic to me, I remember all the times of binge watching his videos, waiting for the next pikmin 2 episode only to remember it was luigis mansion that day, wondering how to give him a five star rating and getting confused about were in the Mother 3 Lets play I was at. He also got me into Pikmin so that's a plus. I honestly wouldn't be the same if I never watched his videos back in 2011. Here's to ten more years chugga.

You guys have it all wrong, the games are called *Mother*. So Mother/Earthbound Beginnings=Great grandmother, Mother 2/Earthbound=Grandmother and Mother 3/Earthbound 2=Mother.

you know, when people talk about earthbound. they always highlight the dialogue or the end boss. but few people really take the time to acknowledge all of the numerous mechanics that shape the gameplay and battles.
I honestly loved the inventory system just because it called for you as a player to make some choices or even form a game plan before entering a major dungeon, and it brought a new level of excitement with each party member, as they acted as inventory expansions. and I loved how precious PP was as a resource, it made it so you really had to think about weather or not to use PK rockin or to save that for some lifeups.
and when it comes to battles, most other RPGs were all about making them big effect shows, but earthbound fights were more narrative in a way. every action done was detailed in how it was done, and enemies would sometimes spend turns doing actions that appear to achieve nothing for them. the game even gave descriptions on how the enemy was defeated. animals mellow out, people come back to their senses, and so forth. the halloween hack used that part of the game to great effect.
all of these things and more are elements I wish more RPG's did, especially those that are described to be cut from the same cloth as earthbound, be it undertale or Lisa (though undertale did deliver on the battle mechanics quite well)
