Oh, that wet tractor seat brought back a few soggy bottom memories! ❤️ I put a metal roof on my shed, I love that sound too. When my parents moved to this farm I'm still on now, there was an orchard with many apple trees. Several with more than 1 type of apple grafted on. I'm getting the orchard back (with Stark Bros help!) Interesting about grafting Bradford pears. Thanks for all you do!
I subscribe to many channels and like for the most part I watch most if not all advertising. I think that this provide a source of revenue for the people who created the channel. I've been following the channel for a few years now.
If only we as adults could find the simple fun in things like splashing in a puddle 🥰. I used to just let my granddaughter just jump in them till she was done. What fun she had and memories made. ❤
I am thoroughly enjoying your channel. Your content never ceases to warm my heart and put a smile on my face. The days where you are cooped up inside and not able to get out into the fresh air makes everyone a bit stir-crazy. Cabin fever is a real thing!!! Our winters here are about 4-5 months long. Next week we are supposedly going to have -35C temps (without the windchill). Ick! Those difficult days where baby is into everything, older kids have cabin fever but the adults still need to get things done, are tricky. Enjoy the little moments. By tomorrow, you'll be smiling about the previous day's escapades. Happy Holidays to all, Heather🇨🇦🎄
Ben, you always show us the most interesting projects your doing. I don’t know anything about tree grafting, so it will be interesting to see how you graft them come spring. Buggy is so sweet and loves following her daddy. Thank you for sharing!
I watch EVERY video you put out. I’m not sure if I’ve ever commented on any of them but I would like to tell you I absolutely LOVE watching your videos. I’ve watched you all from the day you left California for your new adventure. I was so envy of you and how I wished I had the guts and drive to do what you guys did. You all have come a long way and I can’t wait for the next adventure. Merry Christmas to you all from my family in Utah. May God bless you all.
@@Holly_at_gypsyhollergardens the only ones I don’t watch are the butchering ones. I know where meat comes from, just don’t have the stomach to watch ❤
I love how practically and thoughtfully you are improving your land and making it even better! Step by step, tree by tree we watch as you build your dream! ❤🤗
Family has gone to town and I am home alone. I finished sewing gifts and now I have the internet too myself. Thank you for having a video today I was needing your company. Bless you.
Your fruit trees are growing like weeds. The nitrogen planting, and wood chips made an amazing improvement. We must keep that in mind when replanting. I love watching Buggy enjoying herself outside, and helping Mom, and Dad when ever possible. I giggled when she put the pot lid on her head, and then stated "the hat of shame". I can see Buggy's brothers are having fun teaching her 😊. Maniccoti Yum!!! Shells are hard to find, I think its a Christmas meal thing to make stuffed shells. My husband always says pasta is pasta, just use what's available. He had a different opinion when I made fresh pasta instead of store bought one night.
Okay... this is the best channel... you are all wonderful to watch and learn from. I can't get over how quickly our little girl is getting.. seems like every video she is in she has grown miles from the last one. Also enjoy watching how the boys are growing and trying to figure out who takes after each of you. I'm a SoCal gardener and just applaud you for making the decision to up and move your family out of California and love/enjoy your new life. Thank you and thank you for the great selection of music... love it !!!! Best, Gina from SoCal.
Loved, loved, love the opening shots of the kids playing UNO with their smiling and happiness, it was great! Reminds me of our camping trips doing the same things years ago. Another in a long line of great videos.
Nice pruning. My husband always does our pruning in the Spring when they are still dormant. This is a good idea because the snow isn't there yet. I hope you can get the grafts to work in the Spring time! I can understand small kids and puddles. I used to take my boys out in the rain with their rain boots and rain coats and have them jump in the puddles. They loved it. There is nothing happier than boys jumping and running in puddles. Great trees guys. The stuffed Manicotti noodles looked delicious Meg! Thanks for this Hollar family! Meg, I'm loving your "fatty" Christmas! Merry Christmas!
What a helper! Buggy just melts my heart. ❤ I remember my girls at that age. (They’re 13 and 11 now.) Hard to get much accomplished in a day, but so adorable. Worth it!
Omg using the Bradford pears as rootstock is genius. Our entire property is covered. Absolutely covered in them. We won’t be able to start our orchard til next year, but you’ll have to let me know how it goes! Such a good idea
I’ve been researching and hoping to do the same with the Bradfords that are popping up everywhere here at our place. I too want to see a video on trying it and results. I’m so glad to see someone approaching this topic!
Well worth a shot of grafting Ben.. you maybe very surprised... some folks do multiple types of apples on one root shock... even different fruits on one root stock..Its done so much here in England forsure. Keep on keeping on.. your killing it out there. Hats off to you all
Love seeing the boys in the opening and the end and Buggie of course! It's always so nice to see them as we don't very often see the 4 of them just being boys and I absolutely do not mean you work them to death either. Just watching them do kid stuff 😊 Gosh Meg, I need to make some cheese stuffed manicotti shells soon, it has been FOREVER since I have. God bless
Hello Hollar Family ♥️ I enjoy watching the beginning of what will one day be a beautiful and very productive orchard. It's fun to read your channels comments section and see how nice and supportive your viewers are. You have an awesome community of subscribers 👏😊👏😊
Good luck with your grafting experiment. I think I will learn a lot by watching you do this. The winter days can be long with kids in a tight space. You will make it. God bless you all.
“sister” has grown so much this summer. She seems to be growing out of the toddler stage. Of course the boys are looking more like men all the time! Glad you’re ok after the rain.
Thank you for the reminder to prune fruit trees!!! What a beautiful family, and the photographs were absolutely stunning in the beginning of the video!,
Oh how I love your “views” around the farm. Loved the music in the background, and once in a while your hand interaction with an animal. Great video content as usual.
One day we need a tour of this magical Mary Poppins/Narnia Wardrobe fridge you guys have! Sounds like half the food in NC is stored in there and few apple twigs for good measure 😉
Enjoy the moments when your daughter wants to be with her dad. Before you know it they grow up and those times have past by. I can remember when my kids wanted to spend time with me. May you family have a blessed weekend.
Buggie being with her daddy as he worked reminded me of enjoying being with my daddy. I was the youngest of 4, and my siblings always said I had daddy wrapped around my little finger! I think Buggie is a daddy's girl too!❤ I loved hearing her hollering for Milly cat! Meg, your dinner was excellent! I love watching you cook! Have a good weekend Hollar family!
Us South Texas peeps are getting rain. We were so bad all summer & so really not fussing even I don’t like winter, but it’s really thankful for here. I so enjoy yours & Megs’ homestead doings. Wonderful Christmas Early day. I am suffering with my hands hurting with the cold. From what I can see of your hands Ben you don’t look like you have troubles. Believe me you are very lucky. Have a Great weekend!!. I took cuttings from my Meyer lemon and oil trees . I put some in pots with rooting hormone powder and they are doing well . Hey Buggy you did a great job collecting the cutting such a big and pretty little girl.
It sure is fun growing from seed. I grew heaps of almond pits one year and when they fruited I had 1 almond tree and about 8 peach trees. Another lot of seeds from feijoa slices, I ended up with hundreds of trees, I made a very long hedge out of them, fruit was a bonus. I also grafted an apple tree, 2 grafts on one root stock. I ended up with a very wonky tree, it fruits all the same. Good luck with your efforts.
Watching you guys makes my heart sing and giggle!!! Thanks you so much for sharing your life journey with all of us. Your happiness brings others so much JOY! God bless you and my prayers include your family, God is GREAT!!!

Great video. We finally had some rain Thursday is going to be colder than it has been. I totally agree that I prefer the cold to the heat. I’ve started calling FL the Sauna State. I am so ready to move from here. But I’m in need of a lender for just land, which is proving to be very difficult. With every month that goes by I have less money for my down payment. 😞 Have a blessed day y’all 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕👩🏻🌾❤️
You all are so sweet thank you so much for a great video and can't wait to see how your trees turn out and also I want to say that this video just made me smile
We're the kids playing a game of Uno?...oh the memories of the holidaze! Meg ...the manicotti looked delish!...Sorry you couldn't find shells...seems like they just disappear this time of year🤷♂️!Get ready for more rain and very hard freeze in 'bout a week...maybe even a white Merry Christmas!!??
YES! grafting will become an addiction Ben! The size of the seed is the match: apples/pears have the same seed..plums/apricot, peaches/nectarines etc. I've got a home grafted apple with 5 varieties. A store bought peach/nectarine/plum. Trouble is the plum grows too fast and drains the energy so the peach is wimpy. I've cut the plum way back twice. It helps a little.
Our family loved playing Uno, too! Another favorite was Mille Bourne, a French travel game. I highly recommend it for the kids! It’s fun to give a speed limit or flat tire to other players. 😉Love to your family and may the Lord continue to really bless you!!💕
Love love your channel your youngest boy of your is a trip he is so funny making faces at the camera and buggy is a Tom boy through and through tyfs hugs and prayers and much love 💕
I live in apple and pear country and a friend of mine purchased a home and it had a pine tree that had red and golden delicious apples grafted on it. First for me. I worked at Tree Fruit Research Center here in Washington State and we spent one day doing nothing but grafting, learned a lot but never use the skill so all I can remember is how to cut the root stock and splice in a branch and tie with a rubber band and apply grafting wax. A skill I will never use, but knowledge is always good to have.
I am from Minnesota and I am thinking it would be more fun when it is cold to have some snow. Not as much mud and so much fun for the kids. We made igloos when we were young and made those big snow balls and rolled them around the land and build things that we just made up as we went along. Kids sure sleep good after being out in the snow. Mom and Dad might enjoy it some also. Especially going sledding. Merry Christmas and God Bless.
Looking forward to seeing how your grafting works out...enjoyed hanging out with you and your family on a (cold) pre-Christmas day...as usual "sister" was a delight in her pink!!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
I hope your experiment will work! I have been wanting to make stuffed manicotti, but I can't find them, but I have seen big shells. I guess we just need to switch and send some to each other lol
I always enjoy your videos, especially the recent ones!! We call our granddaughter buggy too. Blond also!! She is the cutest. Love to hear her talk!! Thank you for giving us more videos. I was really excited when you used your game! Love you guys❤
Some orchards around here gently encourage the branches to be more horizontal than vertical by hanging plastic sandwich bags, with sand in them for weight, on them. You just want to encourage them, but they are still free to move with the wind, etc..
I am starting to think the inside of your refrigerators or kinda like the tardis from Dr. Who. Much bigger on the I side than the out! You and Meg keep amazing amount of stuff in them! 😆
Ben: you should use that tree that seems to be all suckers as root stock and graft a couple of apple varieties to it! You've got nothing to lose trying it...
Every day I look forward to watching your family. I enjoy seeing all the projects (the good & fails), I always get a smile from your families antics especially Buggy. She wasn't fazed at all about her wet feet 🤣. Thank you for the joy I see & feel every day that your family has brought into my life. ❤️
Hey if you would like a little idea I’ve done with very good results! If you can get some whippoorwill tree cuttings to put into the water along with your cuttings, the willow puts something into the water that acts like a root stimulant. Just thought I would share, I know you like experiments.
I have a cherry tree that I trained to have horizontal branches. I used rope and cement blocks. I weighted those branches down for at least a year maybe 2. It's full grown now and it's fabulous If you can, do get some of that stretchy paraffin tape to wrap your graft unions in. It really helps the success rate
Oh, that wet tractor seat brought back a few soggy bottom memories! ❤️
I put a metal roof on my shed, I love that sound too.

Oh! Is that how they get paid? I’ve been cheating them. I’ll watch the commercials for now on.
I watch all there ads or should I say,,,,let them run so they get the money. I do it for all the homesteaders I watch…

Ben you remind me of Johnny Appleseed! If people did not experiment where would we be in this world today?❤❤
She sure Loves her Daddy!!! Also, the mud puddles! LOL!!!
Can relate Ben… being at that age of comfort comes first. Yesssss!
Have a blessed weekend you guys! 🤗❤️🙏❣️
Hey if you would like a little idea I’ve done with very good results! If you can get some whippoorwill tree cuttings to put into the water along with your cuttings, the willow puts something into the water that acts like a root stimulant. Just thought I would share, I know you like experiments.
I’ve actually tried this and had great results!
Good thing you work so hard, eating all that good food. I would be 500 lbs. thank you ALL stay safe
Hey Ben, just wanna say I love your upgrades lately and also..
Do some aquaponics out in that swamp. Aquaflippingponics up in that bia!
I have a cherry tree that I trained to have horizontal branches. I used rope and cement blocks. I weighted those branches down for at least a year maybe 2. It's full grown now and it's fabulous
If you can, do get some of that stretchy paraffin tape to wrap your graft unions in. It really helps the success rate
