HINT: Insure your greenhouse. You'll be so glad you did. Ben, I am amazed at all the things you can fix. the knowledge you have and Meg can cook anything and take care of the house & family. And the kids are learning right behind you. :) Bless you!
Unfortunately , it's not necessarily that easy. Most insurance companies(in my area at least) won't insure a greenhouse structure for wind damage. I used to own commercial greenhouses and found that out the hard way
Just wanted to let you know, that is an echinacea plant, with an infection called asters yellow. It is mostly spread by leaf hoppers, and the best way to control it is to cut off the diseased flower heads and dispose of them elsewhere. If all the flowers show it, it's best to dispose of the entire plant.

Hello, That flower kind of looks like a type of cross bred Chrysanthemum 🤔, and some Chrysanthemums are green. Thank you Bret 🙂👍. Dinner looked aaamaazing, Meg you're meals always look and sound wonderful .
We removed a hedge in front of the house, there was a volunteer tomato that came up. I told my husband as good as it was doing, don't do anything to it. It gave tons of tomato's and would still be is he hadn't taken it out for the winter. Nothing in our garden did any good, but those made up for it.
OMG that was so cute when after the prayer both boys shook their hair out of their faces and then moved it with their hands at the same time! I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a mirror. Love it.
I LIKE WHEN YOU EXPLAIN THE WEATHER PATTERNS & TEMPS, BEN, WHAT WEATHER IS USUAL & STORMS, ETC. it makes it feel like we are there & explains how it effects what grows & when. i love when you teach us skills you learn with your guys & wife. we go away knowing how to improve our lives too! TY

I watch you all often. I'm a homesteader, too. Hay is one of your most valuable resources. Please consider putting it in your sheds, your workshop, etc, with roof, walls, and pallets, etc. Tarps may not be not good enough if high winds and rain. I want you to succeed.
Take care during the storm. I live in Florida and it was aweful. I made sure my insurance policies are paid, lots of extra drinking water per person, everyone's devices charged up. You can use your car adapter to charge up devices if necessary. I packed Insurance Policies, birth certificates, latest bank statement, monthly bills info, medical info, etc in a plastic bag and put it in a duffle bag. That took me hours so don't wait to the last minute. I made it a 'grab and go bag'. Take care.
Hope you weren’t hit hard. We are also in FL but 50 miles inland. Lots of wind and rain, no power since Wednesday dinner time but all is good here. Sending prayers to anyone affected.
The clouds here in West Virginia were crazy this morning...They were moving really fast from the wrong direction, so fast that if you watched them they made you motion sick. Still so glad that that, and rain, will likely be all we see. Prayers up for everyone affected. ❤

Wow, hurricane Ian is already affecting you guys. Nice, putting in the power steering fluid. Oops, linkage to the steering has to be done. Darn, the battery went dead. Cleaning out the tomatoes. We got "skunked" tonight. Somewhere very close to our house a skunk sprayed and the smell is coming into the house. My husband woke up asking me where the smoke smell was coming from. I couldn't smell anything but then I opened our backdoor and a big whiff of skunk hit my nose! We harvested all our potatoes today. It was easy because I planted them in bags on our deck. It was so easy to harvest them. Nice way to tie down a tarp Ben. Thank you Brett for the camera action. Nice, suction garbage! That looks like very healthy and delicious ramen! Great dinner idea Meg. I have those Egyptian walking onions and I use them in my ramen. That's great to see you eating with chop sticks. Beautiful sunset at the end! Great video Hollars, thanks!
Ever heard of Fried Green Tomatoes? They are so yummy. Just slice up your green tomatoes, season them (salt & pepper) flour both sides & fry in lard or bacon grease (not deep) add cooking fat as needed. Once the flour is browned (on both sides) they are ready to eat. Some people do the egg bath & then flour, it's up to the cook! We always did them as a snack, because they are not good cold! Don't stack them the crust comes off easily!
Junk food is derived from actual food gone wrong, it’s great that you are making tasty good meals. This gave me an idea for lunch tomorrow. Stay buttoned down for the weather, and safe.
I look forward to the daily videos during the week. That ramen looked so good. You guys have become one of my favorite Homesteaders to follow on UA-cam.
Whenever I watch your Channel and worry about setbacks you've encountered that inhibit progress on new projects, I go back to that Property Reveal video that was *only* 3 years ago and and realize what indominable human dynamos you guys are. You go!

Back before we had the weather apps... was watching the news to check the weather , 17 minutes after the hour. Morning, noon, evening, 10 o'clock. Once dated someone who worked in an office - never bothered to check the weather, just kept an umbrella by the door and in the car... totally blew my mind!
Flower looks maybe a green Zinnia. Batten down the hatches. Sounds like y’all are in for some serious rain tomorrow. I was stationed at Naval Hospital Beaufort, SC in 1981 - 1982. 1981 There was a hurricane that downgraded to a tropical storm not long before it made landfall. Had never seen rain and wind like that before… ever. We had a hurricane party on the ward I worked on, the Nurse corps officer in charge of the ward was from SC and she didn’t want us in the barracks or apartment in town by ourselves since none of us had been through one before and no one knew how much flooding and damage was coming either. Hospital was built like a fortress, had withstood many hurricanes and had generators so it was much safer for us all to be there anyway.
Whether you can take credit for that rock tying on the tarp or not, it is brillisant. Thank YOU for sharing it! I will definitely find that helpful in the future. That is such a clever way to not have to use the grommets or have to puncture holes (that will only tear) in the tarp itself. The Ben "hacks" are brilliant. I think you should include as many of these as possible in all your videos, or do a "top 10 hacks" for building things, welding, gardening, composting, etc. You both are fountains of valuable information so it'd be neat to see some of the hacks that keep you going. Our son and I gave my husband a lift three years ago- He absolutely loves it! He got special ramps to be able to service the tractors and mowers. Then he has the regular ramps for cars and trucks. He loves it!
Store your green tomatoes wrapped in newspapers in a box in the barn. Check them weekly and consume any ripe ones, throw out any yucky ones. I have had fresh homegrown tomatoes at Thanksgiving and Christmas!
I get the ramen I love my ramen with some sesame oil and a lot of garlic and some onion and some meat if I have it left over I get it. That was a serious swirl of clouds up above. Stay safe stay blessed
We finally made it through hurricane Ian. It’s amazing that y’all can feel the bands from way up there! So glad to be back and catching up on your videos now.
Hello Meg you should try green tomato ketchup. It's very good my kids loved it. Here is the recipe. GREEN TOMATO KETCHUP 4 c. ground onion 4 c. ground green tomatoes 6 sweet red peppers, ground 12 green bell peppers, ground 4 c. ground cabbage 6 c. sugar 2 tbsp. mustard seed 4 c. vinegar 1/2 c. salt 1 tbsp. celery seed 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric 2 c. water Grind vegetables using blender or coarse blade of grinder. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup salt. Let stand overnight. Rinse and drain. Combine with remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Simmer 3 minutes. Place in sterile jars and seal. About 8 pints.

Yeah them clouds were pretty cool looking for sure!! 🌥 Nice trick there with the garbage bag!! Dinner looked yummy as usual!! 😋 Thanks for sharing!! ❣❣❤❣❣
I am with you, Ben. Weather is cool! I grew up in Arizona where we had two kinds of weather, sunny and hot and hot and sunny. With an occasional dust storm thrown in. I now live in Kentucky when we have four seasons and I really really love the season changes. Fall is my favorite. I even liked the ice storms. I was out with my camera taking pictures of everything encased in perfectly clear ice it was so beautiful. I know that Meg is probably too busy to watch UA-cam videos, but I recently found a Italian cooking channel called pasta grammar. And she seems to have a 1000 uses for cherry tomatoes. Meg might pick up some good Italian recipes for all those cherry tomatoes. Fried Green tomatoes with cheese grits and Tesso gravy is pretty awesome. There’s a restaurant on Strawberry Plains exit of I 40 on the edge of Knoxville Tennessee called Puleo’s Grill that makes that dish as an appetizer and I would love to have ordered three portions of it and just had nothing but that for my whole meal. It was that good. But the tesso gravy part is the difficulty because it’s made from a Louisiana Cajun style cured meat that I have not been able to find in any store around me in Kentucky. But it’s sure worth the search if I can find it.
Meg..take your larger green tomatoes and wrap them in newspaper and put them in a box in a dark place...when you want ripe tomatoes pull them out and place them on a sunny window still to ripen..my grandmother did this and we would have wonderful tomatoes and a taste of summer all the way until Christmas.
Thank you for being an inspiration as well as a source of comfort to me.❤️ I whole heartedly appreciate the work you put into your content and sharing your family.
The experiment in the orchard turned on great...I know you will have many ideas.. don't forget herbs like mints that spread...it's always nice to bump into a patch of mint
I am a weather geek! 🌧💨 I am just east of you all near Raleigh. I cleaned out my rain gauge! And I'm working from home tomorrow! The tarp trick is pretty clever. That ramen makes a beautiful meal! Thanks for the time lapse. The atmosphere after a hurricane is the best!! Clean and clear - like it's been flushed!
My husband must have learned about tarps and ropes and knots from the same place you did. The way you did it is exactly, precisely, the way he would do it!
For fruit flies I use about 2- 3 inches of ACV in a jar with about 10 - 15 drops of dish soap...give it a stir. The flies are attracted to the ACV and they land in the jar and die. Just leave it on the counter of near your food where the flies congregate. I change mine every week when there is a lot of the flies around. Hope it helps. 👍😊
I'm not an every baby is so cute kind of person, in fact I've seen some...well lets say less than average tots. Bless their hearts. And I don't know if you just edit out when Buggy is just normal tot-ing, but what we get to see is every frame that child is in she is adorably precious and a photogenic ham. 😻
It is a mutant echinacea with "Aster yellows" a serious, chronic disease that occurs throughout North America and coneflowers are particularly susceptible to it especially echinacea.💜✝️
I bought the yellow sticky sheets from Amazon for my greenhouse and plant room. I cut them in strips and I take the paper off one side at a time. I put them in my window sills, next to the sink and anywhere I see those bugs flying. Worked well when flies come in to stay warm…. They are very sticky so place where your hair won’t touch them….lol…my husband got one stuck in his hair….😹 Put bleach in your sink traps because they breed in moisture. When I buy fruit I wash in vinegar water because stands and stores have them and they lay their eggs everywhere. I even find them in my fridge in the house and the camper. We get tons of beetle bugs in the Spring and the Fall….the ones that look like ladybugs but bite…..so I put a narrow strip on the window by the lock and catch many a day……
One side of the cloud formation is a Cold Front (which has nothing to do with temperature). Its a Cold Front when the clouds look like they were cut with a knife! Fascinating to mee! : )
Inspired by all the amazing things your doing with your tomatoes. I made salsa, and all the veggies came out of my own garden. I felt so much pride in that.

Also enjoyed the cloud show. Beautiful
Your plant is a Dianthus "Green Ball". A cultivar of Sweet William.
You all are such a sweet and wonderful family.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love watching you guys. Its refreshing. You both are down to earth.
I concur with your analogy of the re-use of items and I was 13 in the latter 70’s. Buy quality now.
Prayers for safe weather as the storm passes you by!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thanks for sharing!
That plant is an echinacea. It will probably be a purple one if it has enough time to mature. Thanks for the great videos!
Oh my goodness, that fancy Ramen looked delicious! I wish that I could cook like Meg!
Buggie with her head bowed 🥰
Time lapse on the clouds was way cool. Thanks!
That is a type of coneflower/echinacea…they come in several colours including green👍
They are very sticky so place where your hair won’t touch them….lol…my husband got one stuck in his hair….😹
Put bleach in your sink traps because they breed in moisture.
For fruit flies set a mason jar with apple cider vinegar and a squirt of dish soap covered with wrap poked with holes. Works amazing!
