RIP David McCallum. David McCallum would have made a good Doctor Who.

Agreed. David Warner who played Steel for Big Finish also played Doctor Who for Big Finish. And Joanna Lumley played Doctor Who for a Comic Relief special. So David McCallum's potential for being Doctor Who would have been most interesting.

I had a dream-after seeing that last notorious episode on "Enterprise"-and reading that had that programme had 3 extra seasons (5-7), that Cdr. T'Pol discover her long-lost Romulan father on a deserted planet. David-in makeup-could've played her father. However, the series was cancelled and never renewed and David was involved with being Ducky by that time. RIP, David.

@@virginiaconnor8350 I had a dream about a small reveal (after the closing credits of Sapphire & Steel's last TV episode) for how Sapphire and Steel escaped the space-time trap. They just somehow made it out via a sort of priest-hole-like exit somewhere as I interpreted.
I agree that David having a guest starring role somewhere in Star Trek would have been superb.

When the sentient beings were sent to trap them in the past in the garage cafe. That was bloody scary when I was a kid.

I so remember watching it when it was first transmitted and thinking "this is WAY ahead of its time". Excellent then, simply SUPERB now (I rewatch Assignment 5 a lot and never get tired of it). GREAT!

I really wish Sapphire & Steel could be brought back into the modern era. Modernised, but keeping the spirit of the show intact
It would be an amazing tv series

Don't forget cheeky-chappy Silver - himself and Sapphire really clicked. EPIC series.

The low budget worked in the shows favour, suddenly after Star Trek and Wars writing instead of effects was back in fashion. The show really shook up programmes like Dr Who which was starting to get jaded and relying more on effects. It was right to end when it did despite me wanting more, true classic TV.

I was 8 when I started watching this series. As an 8 year old kid with a very vivid imagination, it perhaps wasn't the best series conducive to a good nights sleep. My mum banned me from watching it after the second adventure set on the abandoned railway station because it terrified me. I would go to bed with the light off, stare into a corner of my room and could swear that I saw the darkness creeping over the walls. After that & for a long time afterwards, the light had to be on for me to go to sleep! Such was the impression the show left on me that I remembered the name of it years later when everyone else had forgotten it. I was delighted when it came out on video in the early 90's, I scooped it straight up & re-lived those moments + all the stuff I hadn't watched. Not sure if they could re-create it in todays world, but it would be nice to get some answers as to who they were & where they came from. Plus how they got out of the trap at the end of the 6th story (although some people say that not knowing was part of its charm & I can relate to that too).

funny the statements they always make in the interviews, i hid behind the settee, i wouldnt go to bed in the dark, no one knew what it was about...duh i knew what it was about it didnt scare me it did thrill me in a way it was ahead of its time, the storys were great and i was kinda sad when the series ended with saphire and steel trapped in that room in space just peering out of the window.....having said that i was brought up with the boris karloff and vincent price shows outer limits etc so saphire and steel was easy to watch by that point hahahahaha

It can certainly be a good idea. Though it would probably be an even more ambitious task than reviving Doctor Who was and that says a lot.
