Still very watchable. Latest Dr Who writers should watch every episode, done with simplest of sets and almost no action or special effects, it’s all riveting.
The fact the creator of the show had the respect to write the whole thing without ever asking himself to define who Sapphire and Steel were is just amazing. He respected their mystery and the result was fascinating on screen.
I remember seeing Top Ten TV Sci-Fi back when it was first aired, I'd never heard of Sapphire & Steel before (though I'd heard of pretty much everything else on the list). I have seen all of it now since I got the DVDs a few years ago, great show.
I'm with you, I also watched this special and was familiar with every single show except for this one. Now I plan to add this X-Files precursor to my DVD collection as soon as funds allow.
Oh yell yeah this was a great series, to this day I hate having my photo taken because of the no face image stealing entity that pulled you into a photo then burned you alive. Oh I wish they would make shows this scary once more. The closest so far has been the episode Blink from New Doctor Who, but I want more, give us something to really be afraid of while making us think and be entertained again.
Awesome show. Was dumped in a living room by myself with Assignment 4 on the tv when I was 6....so scary. thus becoming the only show to ever make me piss myself cos I daren't go upstairs :o/
Only if there old enough, however that's how new shows start. One day a show will start that people believe is new & fresh because they are two young to remember the X-Files or sapphire & Steel.
The main similarly between the two is that both feature a male/female protagonist duo. Plot wise they are quite different. Sapphire and Steele is a quite unique piece of TV.
Pure English class from Joanna Lumley and David Mccalumn. Jo Lumley is a true English rose, i was 16 when this came out, Creepy, brilliant series.
Brilliant show, still very eerie. Nothing modern comes close.
Just left so much to your own imagination... still chilling even now in places. Really opened up my mind when I first saw it.

1979 was a great year for SF horror debuts: Sapphire & Steel, The Ωmega Factor (both of which had clearly influenced The X-Files) and ALIEN. 😱

Sci-fi classic 🎥
That's very cool to see Tom Baker introducing the clip to this show.

There was an episode of torchwood written by P J Hammond that had the same theme as no-face. Circus characters escaping from .a film.
Imagine a Sapphire & Steel / Doctor Who crossover where they can join forces against both The Man Without A Face and the Weeping Angels.

I was scare by this programme when I was 6. However, by the time ingot to 6 and a half I realised it was shyte.
@@wanderer1955 and by the time you got to 66 you still hadn't mastered predictive text 👍
Great but Timeslip stillmy number1
I am sure they are colleagues of GMan from Half-life 😊
Sapphire and Steel Movie I says!
Under what catagory? "Shyte"?
I can imagine James McAvoy as Steel and Marion Cotillard as Sapphire.
Do X-Files fans know this pre-dates Mulder & Scully (?)

Oookayeeee!! Tell me exactly what was great about this programme, cos I can't see it. Special FX shit. Acting shit. Storyline shit. Ok over to you.
Who was the announcer? It looked like one of the Bakers
Holy fuck, how can the writer not know who they are ??????????????????????????
i never understood this when i was a kid i onlike that they have powers,,not even sure what
For me their "power" was to force me to switch over to BBC pretty darn quick because the show was SHYTE!!
Fk me!! This was dreadful shyte 35 year's ago. Somehow now it's even worse!!!
