      Thank you!
      I’m a 1976 vintage. Back in 2014 (38 year-old) I became a vegetarian, began kickboxing and reduced my weight lifting down to 3 days a week. By late 2016 I was about 9% body fat, at 40. But I didn’t feel great and I was a bit moody so in mid 2017 I decided it reintroduce meats into my diet. In this video I was about 12-13% and maybe 205 lb. I was slowly increasing me workload in the gym.
      Then came the lockdowns. I used that time to rededicate myself too what was my greatest passion when I was in my 20s. With the aid of modern training techniques, supplements and an abundance of UA-camrs describing the best workouts I was able to regain some semblance of the physique I had when I was younger man. Today at 46 I feel great. I’m probably about 16-18% body fat and 225 lb but I feel I hold that weight far better then when I was younger.

      @@topshelfwhisky that's awesome man, glad you found what works for you! Age is nothing but a number, I'm 82 vintage about to hit 40 and am definitely healthier than I was in my 20's. Good food, good exercise routine and good whisky is the trifecta 😉

      The Malted Man Cave oh yeah it really is an amazing whisky, I'm trying to savour it as much as possible, along with my other best ones. I have a 2017 Mac 18 but from what I've heard it's not on the same level as the older 93 94 Mac 18's etc. I've just never had the opportunity to taste the older ones.

    Great review! Just curious, does it say Edrington Americas, New York, NY or Remy Cointreau, USA, INC, New York, NY on the label? There's a big difference between the two.

      Two years ago I found six bottles of the Macallan Sherry 25 for $850cnd at a time you couldn't find them for under $1200cnd. So, I thought "load up on this iconic scotch as the way prices are going I'll never be able to afford such a scotch again'. I waited a whole year for a special occasion to open my first bottle. At first I thought 'mmm good but nothing spacial'. So I waited for oxidization to take hold and tried it three or four more times over the course of three to four months with not much improvement. In comparing it to many other lass highly acclaimed scotches I had enough of waisting my time with this bottle and gave the last 1/4 of the bottle to my brother so he can give it a go. My brother was with me when I first opened the bottle and got it again four months later. He to felt at the very least it was way over hyped and nothing special. I then did some investigating and found out that Edrington Americas, New York, NY took over Macallan in 2012 and since than their 18yo along with all their core ranges have slipped in quality (more 2nd and 3rd fill with less 1st fill). I then asked Malt Reviews what it says on their label ua-cam.com/video/qUdKlBSoXMA/v-deo.html (it's the one with 16 replies). So I knew that the Macallan 25yo I had was indeed not the one that is "The Rolls Royce of whisky". You are lucking men to be able to taste the Macallan of old, what their reputation was built on.

    • @seangalloway4179

      this man tells the truth. I have a a bottle of Remy - Mac 12 and Edrington- Mac 12. Bought within a year of each other. Side by side, you can notice a taste and even color difference. Remy is darker/richer.

    I have two bottles of these, however, how can I tell what year is my Macallan 25? On the surface is looks exactly like yours. With the red ribbon. But I'm having a hard time finding the vintage year. Any thoughts?

    • @topshelfwhisky
      @topshelfwhisky  4 роки тому

      They have bar codes, on the back I believe. The bar code won’t show the bottling year, at least not to us. But there are sites that will disclose that info... try whiskybase.

    • @mrturbo311
      @mrturbo311 4 роки тому

      @@topshelfwhisky unfortunately, I wasn't able to find info on it anywhere not even on Whiskybase.. just FYI my code is 0-87236-10400-9

      @@mrturbo311 This is the UPC code for the distributor. upchelpfinder.webs.com/liquor-listing
      I know they normally use letters in the bottling code. I know the last letter in the first series is the year. Based on what I can gather, it appears that Macallan will skip letters that might cause confusion. For example, S = 2014, T = 2015, and W = 2016. They skipped U and V, likely because of confusion. I would assume the skipped I and O as well for same reasons.

    • @mrturbo311
      @mrturbo311 4 роки тому

      @@topshelfwhisky Thanks for this. On the UPC code for the distributor they just mention what kind of whiskey is associated with a specific code. I happened to find another set of digits (looks laser etched into the lower back of the bottle) and it reads 10087222. Can this be a hint? I have also asked other MaCallan enthusiasts and some have mentioned that they print a code behind the front label, and you'll require a flash light to see it. I tried, but the juice is just too dark and the label in the back blocks my view on the back of the front label...So I'm a bit stuck...

    I'd love to try this whisky and I'm sure it is delicious but "the best whisky to have?" No way. Like so many people on your side of the pond you seem to think that Macallan is somehow special. There are plenty of great alternatives for a fraction of the price. Anyway, it's been great getting to know you. Merry Christmas. WT

      Welsh Toro As long as I can remember, Macallan 25 was always the best whisky in a high-end steakhouse or liquor store. At least regularly available... people love Macallan in the states but that is starting to change. It’s my opinion Macallan has slipped quit a bit in the last decade, and I’m sure you agree, but this was a wonderful Whisky. Way overpriced but wonderful... I, too, have enjoyed interacting with you and I always notice you in the comment sections of whisky reviews. You seem just a passionate and me, I love that.

      Thanks Mike, I'd love to get my hands on some Mac 25 for sure. When I was a young man in the late 80s I used to get given Macallan (probably the paxarette 10 and 18 year) from a sales rep and I used to gulp it down, like everything else, without any true appreciation. Oh, boy, if only I'd known.

    Why does no one bring up the health benifits of Whiskey? I am 86 years old and have drank a fifth a day of aged whiskey since I was 23 and i am in perfect health and still enjoy an active sex life. Of course no one should ever drink cheap rotgut it should be aged from reputable distilleries and of course in moderation. I never induldge in anything over a fifth in a single day unless it is a holiday.
