Many current WWE talent got a reality check after Punk's return. The fans might sing your song or cheer because you did a cool move, but they aren't chanting your name. Punk's name was chanted around arenas for almost a decade. That level of star power is few and far between these days.
He’s Like Cena completely dangerous. Don’t forget Cena even now so. Sure he’s not the rebel and is the company guy but he’s proved to go with the flow and get dirty from times while trying to have a smile.
Only Bryan can get away with it because he actually made a chant. But singing someone song don't make you a star
You are 100% right and I couldn’t agree more with your statement
LA Knight YEAAHH
He's the last of a dying era.
Bully was right. That kick to the face followed by the standup caught me off guard. I was like ‘Wait. Why did he stand up?’
It's trying to have a "fighting spirit" moment like they do in NJPW and Kings Road style matches.
WWE doesn't do it often, but NJPW does it and so does AEW
I’m glad you caught that bully. I thought the second pedigree counter to the spear looked weak AF too but I’m not a pro wrestler and I accept this is definitely knitpickin by me
They are trying to be unique. It looked stupid though.
The superplex to falcon arrow combo Seth usually does bothers me too, psychology wise it doesn't check out imo. Plus they should really stop selling the broken back angle if Seth is going to do a springboard swanton and lionsault combo, and do multiple suicide dives in a row.
Overall Seth is obviously a great talent, but there's an indie side of him where he wants to get his shit in that makes me roll my eyes sometimes
I felt the same way, these guys are pulling off killer move after killer move but they weren’t selling enough, especially in that spot.
Bully is 100 % right because listen to the crowd after the pedigree
Chances of an AJ LEE and CM Punk match vs Becky and Rollins.... THAT IS A HOT MARQUEE match
AJ has said that she is 100 percent done. But you never know.
I see Seth turning heel once again he's starting to lose his mind when he hears CM punk chants
remember 4 years ago right after survivor series we got a seth rollins heel turn, i remember the night after survivor series, seth rollins was badmouthing punk a lil bit following the cm punk chants, 4 years later kind of a full circle moment
Love these Podcast's. Really glad to hear Bully's point on the end of the Jey/Seth main event. It isn't the first time something like that has happened I'm sure, I have had the same feeling at the end of main events before. Time constraints makes sense. As fans while we're eating up the moments, the great matches and the product, time constraints is one of the least concerns for fans.
Man bully/bubba ray Dudley is quickly becoming my favorite wrestling podcast commentator. It’s between y’all and booker t podcast.
Some wrestlers might not like Punk but the reality is the fans will never love them like they love punk.

The super kick completely got me too. As soon as that sequence happened I said that super kick was completely unnecessary
I noticed the super kick stand up, I took it as Seth full of adrenaline but I think it was my head forgiving a stellar performance all round
Rollins is a literal on-screen clown. Who cares how he feels? The match was good. No-selling at the end was real bad. I shouldn't be surprised though. Superkick means absolutely nothing anymore.
a regular punch is way stronger now its pathetic
Yeah that Uso kick did kind of confuse me. Thought I was the only one that was like "huh?"
Bully said it so perfectly… CM Punk is a fuck up. Of COURSE that’s why he’s damn near my 2nd or 3rd favorite performer ever.
Who isn’t a fuck up?
In regards to the punk chants & anti punk chants, the craziest thing I never expected was at dynamite a few weeks ago when a majority of the half filled arena was chanting for punk & booing the bucks. Their home crowd! Booing them & hangman, not so much Kenny. Happened at full gear too, fortunately that was a full arena.
Hangman is a fig
My favorite part of the show is when they said backstage Rhea isn’t here and the audience started booing and chanting “we want Mami”
Not a happy crowd thats for sure
I started chanting that on the floor
Now that TNA is coming back, I need Bully Ray and Scott Steiner to reunite
Hailing from Dunkin’ Donuts!!
That would be a cool moment.
I caught that. If he planned on getting up, he could've stumbled into the corner, dazed. Then when Jey charged him, Seth could've moved, Jey smashes into the corner post, curb stomp, 1-2-3.
Calling CM Punk a flavor of the month is insanity
Yeah people just love Punk and will continue to
I think maybe he meant it as Punk is at the front of fans minds currently and he has a lot of good energy with the fans right now.
@@brandonwhite4992yeah he definitely could've phrased it better Punk is literally a legend
The spear into pedigree was botched also, done in slowmotion, it killed the finish for me
I don't think it was botch I think it just the way it supposed to look it's just very stupid looking
It was horrendous lol
i also felt like every spear was soft AF
You know what bully and mark are quickly becoming one of my favorite podcaster's in the world 🌎 BAR NONE.
VERY good rant about how Seth should be bitter to the fans. This is why shows like the Busted open podcast rock, going more in depth with the characters than the announcer have time for, making us care more about said characters as a result and even being ABLE to say the whole picture about AEW and each person's career in the industry as a whole! Good stuff.
CM Punk chants were definitely because of Seth’s reaction to Punks Debut. Just to annoy Seth
I felt the same. I was like why tf he stood up?
Exactly
Also, the thing about the Punk chant, is that it's easy for the crowd to chant in unison. There is an inherent rhythm to just saying the name. Kind of like "YES" from Daniel Brian's run.
Do you think so?
anything with 3 syllables is gonna follow.
E C DUB! Hol-y Sh1t! C M Punk! What the Fu€k!
I laugh that they are calling Punk the "flavor of the month"...but crowds have randomly chanted his name throughout the ten year hiatus from WWE....name another wrestler you can say about....I'll wait! The only thing that can compare is the "WHAT" that Stone Cold started years ago
If they are getting under Rollins skin, then he needs to grow a pair and deal with it, the same way those "ooooohh...ohhhhh" chants annoy everyone else.
Ain’t no way you got pissed over a made up speculation on how someone feels 💀
@@masonnoble7516 dude grow up. I been watching wrestling since the 70’s. Why is everyone on youtube so immature.
I personally hated the spear into a pedigree. Momentum like that doesn't stop in that fashion and looked gimmicky as hell.
not the first time this has happened, money in the bank 2016, roman reigns vs seth rollins, towards the end, roman attemps to spear rollins but gets countered into a pedigree
@@thelexanator7092 It was definitely awesome the first time, and it was a great surprise Seth actually beat Roman clean for the title that night.
I listen to you guys podcast at work,it's awesome
Punk is going to outshine Seth on the mic
The biggest issue with the superkick spot is Seth didn’t even register it. Normally in a “no sell” spot like that you fire up and the crowd gets into it because the baby face is showing fight and fire. Seth just kinda casually stood up and moved into position so it just felt super flat and odd and the crowd was kinda quiet like “huh? What just happened?”
That stood out to me too... Very AEW not to sell a super kick..
Honestly I don’t think Seth is over. His theme song is (which is awful by the way)
I've said the exact same thing.
Nope he’s still over. Then Bobby roode in nxt wasnt over. In your case Cody isn’t over too right? Yeah shut up😂. He still got over someway shape or form
@@bluebutterfly4296 yeah you keep thinking that asshole 😒🙄
It was his song, we see what Seth was like without his songs and he wasn't over as much as ppl wants to admit.
@@Vendetta419 thank you.
Man i felt everything when u guys were talking about loyalty!
You know Punk is loading up his magnum for his confrontation with Rollins.
I’m not her to make friends I’m here to watch busted open radio😂
There is nothing more dramatic than Dave ranting at the top of his lungs. I love this shit. 2023 has been a boon for Professional Wrestling. This time has been and continues to be just as good, if not better, than the attitude era times. Peace!!
Punk vs Seth will be hugeeee
Bully is exactly right. Rollins isn't over like Punk and hasn't been for a long while. His song is. Like every 2nd superstar whose song the audience likes to sing. Except the audience also genuinely likes some of those guys too (like Sami).
He never was..
He's extremely over to anyone with a brain.@@zhougongjin2704
cody rhodes is another perfect example, crowd loves to sing his song but they chant his name once the music stops
There's been plenty of "Rollins" chants in recent times during his promos.@@thelexanator7092
He got over because of the song.
Right after that stupid superplex no-sell falcon arrow directly into a pedigree 3 seconds later for a 2 count.
I think Uso and Rollins are good in- ring workers but I was not into the match at all. I really didnt care who won or how they won. I feel the character development is lacking at WWE. I found myself looking at my phone more than watching the match. I hope Rollins drops the belt soon. I don't want to see CM Punk wasted on a long feud with Rollins. Let's get Cody vs Punk at Wrestlemania for the belt.
There's no chance of that. It'll be Cody vs Roman (Cody will win) and Punk vs Rollins, and by then Rollins won't have the belt anymore.
I was there it felt like they spent more time trying to get cheers than wrestling. Live drew and sammys match was much better
@schw0373 I'm sure you're right. But hopefully, the Punk v Rollins lasts only a match or two.
theres totally no stress about who is winning when its a title match anymore because we all know theyre on long title runs all around the company
I agree with bully on that. I felt the same way. Also, after the match was finished and seth picks up Jay and Jay no longer selling the curb stomped. Gets up like nothing kinda took me out of the match a bit.... still a great match 👌
To the 90’s Nickelodeon fans here, don’t Dave LaGreca sound just like Filburt from Rocko’s Modern Life??
Spot on lol
1000% loyalty is a weakness
Raw took place where Dave was inducted into the IPWHF. Albany was pissed CM punk was not there. I think Seth is playing with the chants bothering him.
No under my skin for not showing up on the last 2 shows....they got me baited, smackdown is a must watch...fckin carnies got me
You must know the Punk thing was a last minute choice from Triple H. He must build a Story for him. He cant bring him out for nothing. Next raw the feud Punk vs Rollins will begin
@@minatoyondaimehokage6487of course I know but it does not change the fact me being impatient exists lol
I noticed; my impression is that they were low on time.
They spent a ton of time having both fans of each going back and forth with the singing and yeet chants
It was just a bad sequence to get to the curb stomp. It wasnt a mistake. The reverse spear into pedigree to curb stomp is a fine finish but getting there from a super kick while Seth is on his knees and immediately standing up wasnt great. Maybe letting Seth take the super kick and selling for at least a few secs to then have Jey come in for spear once he finally gets up to counter would have looked better
i noticed it and it also took me out of the moment. Afterwards I thought Seth should have rolled/flipped backwards, then Jay is shouting and motioning for him to get up for the spear, THEN he can counter the spear with the pedigree then the stomp.
I’m happy that I’m not the only one to see that. I thought I was the only one to feel a letdown on the finish. Match Look good then just told the fans suck it and spit on them then salt in the wound flipping them off.
35:47 bully got bars right there that was a bar
That ending got me tripping bruh. Like why get Jey that hyped to have seth eat the last attacks and just demolish him
Talk like a human
I can’t believe that Jey Uso can’t say Yeet! No more smh so that a phenomenal good catchphrase to me in my opinion but I’m just shocked that it would happen
It’s because some Indy wrestler trademarked it a couple years ago, supposedly both parties are working out some kind of deal
@@robdurfee6861 oh okay thanks for the information yeah let’s see what happens
@robdurfee6861 he's going to want royalties for it but I can see wwe just throwing him a fat check
@@anthonyolivares6935it’s a she and she didn’t turn into any real name in wrestling but she’s about to come up BIG off of this if the WWE wants to pay for it lol
Jimmy uso needs a " no yeet" shirt
I think Seth has a cool factor to him as a heel. Let’s not take anything away from him. I found him cool in my teens when he was beating cena, Brock, orton. Roman, Dean, and even sting. He was a badass when he stomped Lesnar out in that rr 2015 build and went in Paul’s face on Smackdown. He was a coward most of the time but he had balls when it mattered the most.
😉
Pretty much
Yeah he is cool but right now he ain't
If every entrance didn't have a 5 minute sing along they probably wouldn't be crunched on time. lol
Punk has two cards he can pull, regarding the "The same, old Punk." He can say "These people kind of liked that guy" and he can say "I got myself fired from that other place because I needed to come back here. This is the only place that matters."
The world loves the ones who marches to their own drum beat doesn't take shit from no one and speaks their mind in or out of the Ring and cant be intimidated
Damn you just summed up CM Punk
Cm punk has an unmatchable connection with the crowd
35:56 You have a point their because the fans liking Seth Rollins theme song doesn’t necessarily means it has anything to do with Seth Rollins. I mean I could have Metallica as my theme song and people could like the song. That doesn’t necessarily mean they like me. Phil Brooks has everything to do with the name and character CM PUNK. The fans singing Seth’s theme song doesn’t mean it has anything to do with Seth Rollins. The fans just like or like to sing his corny catchy theme song.
Seth dealt with this vs Cody and came out pretty good . Seth is one of the few that could handle this treatment and embrace it and kill it
Sequence
Rollins: bucklebomb
Jey: Spear
Jey: Splash
Jey: Superkick
Rollins: leapfrog, pedigree, stomp
I felt the same way as Bully when I watched it but I just shrugged cause the match was so good I didn't want to tarnish my thoughts on the match lol
Bullys idea for the surprise punk pop is genius
Am I the only one who thinks that Dave sounds like Vince Russo?
People want to see CM Punk vs Seth Rollins
Seth been saying jey deserved the title shot so its going to drive him over the edge when punk gets handed one as a prize for signing ti the raw brand. Remember the raw gm was willing to hand Orton a title shot against seth for signing.
What bully is complaining about is pretty much all of AEW matches.. Not Enuff selling and big move after big move
Very good points raised. Great podcast
I agree 100%, Rollins has been turning into super Rollins the last few months abd its starting to get noticeable. He kicks out from like 3 finishers every defence and then juat finishes the match. They hace have to tone that down a bit.
The funny thing is that Seth has been saying that whole loyalty argument for almost a decade 😂. He actually believes it. It’s fucking hilarious
Something they could have done for the seth-jey finish:
Jey hits the superkick, seth falls and so does jey but jey grabs the bottom ropes in the corner and pulls himself up slowly, adrenaline pumping. He looks across the ring to see seth slowly get back up. Looks up, finger in the air, does the Umaga corner taunt and goes for the spear. Pedigree, stomp , 123.
Edit: Hindsight is 20/20, just had this headcanon and wanted to share it.
The only thing that I can think of that reminds me of how big of a pop punk got was when brey returned at payback they sang with him for 5 min
My biggest problem with Seth is that he's becoming Super Rollins and no one else seems to notice and same as Bianca
They sing his song like sheep, but they chant CM PUNK! For YEARS!!!!
Seth has been laying the roots for a Punk feud for a while. He’s taken shots at Punk in several interviews since Punks time in AEW. Seth is a face by necessity but not by default. Both he and punk can play either role. Will be a great feud.
Punk will absolutely eat rorllins up in the mic
Bully’s 100% right… i think what they were going for is the same thing we see with like Adam Cole VS Gargano where one will hit a flying knee and a superkick and the other guy hits the rope but comes right back with a superkick of his own… but this one didnt go over as well
I felt the same way about that super kick. I was definitely out of place.
I did notice that no sell from Seth at the end of the match. I also didnt believe the pedigree. Looked bad. Other than that it was a good match
I noticed the spot, but forgot about it before Bubba brought it up specifically. It did take me out of the match for moment, but I was able to forget it at the end. I didn't think it was a timing issue, I thought it was just one of those weird indy spots that they decided to do.
I love Dave's rant as Seth lol
Jeu Uso is soo soo close to going a real singles senation. He still seems a bit unsure about him self from time to time but once that confidence hits him I can see this guy blowing up BIG. His in ring work looks great, crowd love him and its actually feeling natural. Glad to see lessons learned after Romans start as a babyface.
At Wrestlemania 40. Night one Maint Event I believe will be CM Punk defeating Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. Night two the main event to close out Wrestlemania 40 Cody Rhodes will defeat Roman Reigns and end The Tribal Cheifs 3-year run to become the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight champion! I think we will also see Randy Orton turn heel most likely after Mania and go after Cody's title. That would be a great fued. I know some people think he's going to turn before that but I don't I think so. Randy is going to make sure the bloodline goes down and this year Roman will not have any help when Cody Rhodes gives him the bionic elbow then 3 crossroads and pins him one two three....
#facts about loyalty
I think they were running late. They went a minute over by the end of drews thing. But I agree
That's an amazing line that needs to be used "They sing your song, But they chant my Name"
He didn't sell that super kick
Place wanted jey to win they just sang Seth's song. It was a huge jey crowd
Rollins gimmick is a song and outfits. He might as well turn heel. Punk is gonna have a field day with him.
I too remember when Sweet Chin Music was a finish.
I miss the Fans/Crowds (the "WWE Universe" solar system/milky way) bringing in their very Creative signs to the arenas/ringsides/(huge rock concert) stadiums. 32:03 - 32:43 = Dave as Seth Rollins (a reaction to CM Punk getting cheered); a great and logical rant. "(100%) Loyalty is seen as a Weakness. You get F#%ked when you're Loyal." - Dave LaGreca True. "Loyalty gets you Nowhere, anymore. The World loves a good F#%k Up. We love you Anyway. They sing Your Song (Seth Rollins), but they chant My Name (CM Punk)." - Bully Ray
I really thought jey was gonna pull it off, yet at the same time, knew Rollins was going to win. Im also happy cody is not in the main event scene.
That rant by LaGreca about Rollins was dynamic.
Kudos to Bully for being sharp enough to notice the No Sell, a thing that stuck in my Craw was from The Drew McEntire /Sami Zayne who is that Referee that hesitated before counting 3 , refferees are not supposed to be noticable or Biased usually that is AEW crap if i were a heel and the refferees hesitate to count 3 gives me reason to put the reff thru a table.
Bubba looks so happy in the video photo
, I agree with Bubba Ray. The finishes back and forth in the Seth/Jey match was over the top. They don’t see the impact like they used to
Seth starting to realize his song is more over than him yet guys like Cody and punk are actually over
Great discussion. Both are spot on. Punk holds all the cards in this feud lol
They are right… I hate to admit it. Don’t get me wrong, like both wrestlers. But it does come down to right now. Who’s got the edge at the moment. Rollins or punk.. and punks has it. Like bully said, they sing ur song but chant my name. But I’m curious, what Dave and bully think about McIntyre‘s comments last night about punk coming back?
I Mean I agree and Disagree with @BullyRay and @DaveLagreca to an extent Seth does have a cool factor to him he reinvented his character went from being the Architect to being The Visionary and regardless if Punk is back and they chant his name they still Chant for Seth when he begins to open his promo with "I Am Visionary, A Revolutionary, I am Seth Freakin Rollins"!! But with that being said Seth has been the top wrestler and performer within the last decade and has carried the company to whereas with Punk even though he's polarizing and impactful let's see how long he'll last without taking his ball and going home. I'll end it there.
Plus we'll see how long the Chants will continue if Punk doesn't let his ego get the best of him and upheld his words for the fans
