Best looking fish I've ever seen.
Was up at Anstruther on Sunday there for a fish supper after Crail Raceway. What a way to finish a great day with outstanding food. You can't get fresher fish in that flawless batter. You know your food mate.
I wish I’d tried this and also The Wee Chippy, which some locals recommend. I spent three days in that lovely place and I went to Anstruther Fish Bar every day. Haddock and chips two days and the fish salad thing the other, which had superb salmon. No regrets but other places need a go. Not sure if you stayed over but I was at The Bank and I think you’d enjoy the breakfast.
That looks absolutely amazing, I’m from aberdeen and some good fish here but most chips are crap, and the batter is always poor . I’ll have to take a trip!

On a wee run with the bikes today and stopped off at the Waterfront chippy for tea, best fish I have ever tasted on the Scottish East coast, Haggis and Curry Sauce was also first class
Allanwater cafe bridge of Allan. Up there with ainster in terms of quality taste and tradition try there
Next time you’re up there you need to try Findlay’s in Fraserburgh, the freshest haddock you’ll ever taste! Literally melts in the mouth and the the nicest owner Ian is amazing. Definitely recommend even though I live 500 miles away
That fish and chips looked epic. We have a good one in sunny Southend called Seacrest in Westborough Road Westcliff. Best fish and chips in town in my opinion. Always had the cod which is excellent but on a whim recently started having Haddock and it is a revelation. Such beautiful food and always well prepared and a good price too. Well worth a visit.

Just rewatched your steels video from Cleethorpes , you gave an 8.9 (three years ago (as chips werent as good) shame so many places do encased style batter now.

Next time you around St Andrews fella try Balgrove larder steak barn ,just outside the town. My son is at uni there and the steak with truffle and Parmesan chips are to die for

Matt, honestly go to the chip shop in Kirkliston High street, they do the most amazing kebabs also.
I used to love the fried pizza supper. That was nearly 20 years ago though. Brilliant chippy.
About an hour away from me. There’s three or four similar quality places around Fife. Nothing like it down England. That looks amazing even for anstruther to be fair though
They make that fish and chips exactly how i would want it, exactly. Down to tge spray bottle for the vinegar. I hsx the same in the cupboard

I'd love to compare it to my favourite chippy. The Toll Bar Fish & Chips, Hope Valley the place is quality well worth the travel.

Maybe because it's haddock. From your reviews most fish n chips shops serve cod, maybe haddock is better than cod when it comes to fish n chips. You tell me?
In Scotland most popular is haddock although many plaices (sorry) , do lemon sole , skate etc . Haddock has more flavour than cod and is currently more sustainable .
Haddock beats Cod every time.
So as a lad that spent his holidays in Scotland and lives in Cornwall im sorry but they are on par....Unless you go to a few certain higher up Names/Chef restaurants in Cornwall they are garbage granted...But go to a nice chippy in looe in Cornwall with a 40+ year old Gal or Guy running the place....Easily...basically..Messi or Ronaldo same kinda scenario for me, Cheers for the vid much love x
The first chippy you tried (Anstruther Fish Bar) is for the tourists as it was the number 1 for many years. It still is amazing.
But us locals go to the wee chippy, or the waterfront as a second choice. The wee chippy is the current number 1 and has been for a few years.
The wee chippy and the waterfront are the same owners, same fish same method.
@@TheSanctioningBoxer yes I know, but the queue is usually smaller at the wee chippy so you get served quicker, thus why it's the number 1 choice. Last time I went to the waterfront it was a 40 minute wait.

you should do the West coast in particular Oban there is 2 fish and Chip shop's there who claim to be the best , Oban Fish and Chip's and Norries!!
The last time you were in Anstruther you were at the "famous chippy" I'd recommended to you the redone wee chippy and now you're at the new kid on the block looks like you'll need to make a third trip and see if their the best...
You must admit it was cooked fresh there was nothing ready but when you go to a normal chip shop they have them cooked already so it's hard to say on a score.
You should try the chippy in Crail…top drawer👌

Good old fish and chips are becoming rare these days .. all taken over by foreigners and taste like shit … but that looked like the good stuff there .. there’s a fish shop called hooked@31 in west wales 🏴 and it’s the best I’ve ever had 👌👌
It was 'foreigners' who made fish and chips what it is today; Dutch Jews in the East End came up with the idea of frying fish, and the huge number of Italian migrants coming to Scotland (specifically Glasgow: second city of empire) set up fish and chip shops, really cornering the market. Equally, before setting up curry houses, when folk from the Indian sub continent came post Windrush, they set up fish and chip shops, selling curry and chips. Chinese and Greek Cypriot migrants did too. Fish and chips are perfectly capable of tasting like shit, whatever heritage the person selling it

Best fish snd chips in the north east has to be seaton sluice harbour view the fish is like a whale and always busy 5** it will be the best fish you have tasted by far also the mushy peas curry and gravy hopefully to see a review and thank me later 😂
Only place that compares to anstruther chippy is cromars chippy in st andrews , if your ever back in scotland you should compare those, blackhorn burger in st andrews is banging too

Stay in Scotland. Come to the chips shop where I stay. If you love your chips chalk white and fish that looks like a cat. Place to be. The macdonalds cooks their chips nice and white right enough . We’re so lucky

Great Yarmouth, Whitby not on par for fish , what a load of bollocks. Just a thin bit of fish in a lighter batter so cooks quicker so will be better. Thick bits of fish no good for deep frying. It's the process of cooking not the quality of sea fish as the fisherman in North England and Scotland fish same areas for cod , haddock etc.
Unreal how u went over the bill in minute detail and never mentioned the $20 sandwich in LA.
