Bargain. Get the 12 meatballs, coffee and that dessert slice you had on a Friday at half price. Cost you something like 7 quid for a large satisfying meal. You have an addictive manner with your food videos. I always seem to watch them.
I've only taken the salmon -excellent, especially the smoked salmon platter - which I don't believe they have anymore. I haven't been back for five years - at a 2.5 hour drive, and no longer needing anything in the showrooms (I'd moved houses back then), not driving back just for food.

Another nailed on review mate. Have to say, the meatballs and the Daim cake are always the star of the show. Always get a hot dog as well, for the money they're great. You MUST try a Costco hot dog meal deal and pizza! Plus their absolutely magnificent mint choc chip gelato and also cherry gelato.
The UK's first IKEA store is in my hometown (Warrington) and was opened not long after I was born. I remember them having ball pools to keep the kids entertained while the parents shopped.
Great review as always Gary. I like the meatballs and gravy and dime cake too. The fish looked very dry and the supposed biryani looked like microwaved packet rice.
Can't beat the meatballs from Ikea, I think it's going back to childhood I never get bored of them with the gravy. Daim cake is my favourite you can't go wrong!

I absolutely love the IKEA meatballs, but I have them with chips. The red sauce is actually lingonberry jam. The other great eat there is the Gravadlax with the dill sauce.

We used to go with our boys when they were young to have breakfast at the Birmingham Ikea. Still go when we can. The annual Swedish crayfish nights are great fun. You have to book! Last time they had a really good ABBA tribute band.

Only buy fish and chips in a specialist fish and chip restaurant . 2 The best curries are served in curry houses. 3 Only eat the house specialism. Excellent review at a cafeteria style restaurant. Here in the US they use to have cheap & decent breakfast before the store would open. The meatballs with gravy are my favorite dishes along with any of their delicious desserts. I buy the gravy mix in the food section of the store and make my own Swedish meatballs with sauce.

Excellent video as always!! Have had mediocre meals in IKEA when I visit, never really good but never really bad. Haven't visited for ages but seems like the prices have massively increased. I normally just go to the fast food place on the way out and get the hot dog instead. Always seems like you have to add plenty of seasoning or sauces to make some of the food palatable. Whitby then. Abbey Wharf fish and chips was excellent on Friday 8th March 2024. Succulent fish, chips were fresh and crispy. Curry sauce - absolutely spot on.

@@GaryEatsI always used to thing they were fine for what they were: a dirt cheap snack at the end of a slog shopping trip. They were tasty enough rather than amazing. Same for the ice cream. Meatballs are always pretty good. Interesting also how the menu varies overseas. In Spain, I had a really nice meat on the bone thing with mash, since it was one of the few GF options there.
Pre pandemic, on Thursdays or Friday during some months, my local Ikea used to do a main meal and free refills on cups of tea for £1.50. Used to enjoy in the afternoon after work.
Gary, while I agree the fish and chips was not the best it was affordable, and lots of people are happpy to eat it and not worry too much about the quality, being guided by the price. The meatballs looked quite good, and good value for the money. These are tough times for folks so if it's a treat for them I think we have to bow to peoples pockets, but a good review yet again, thank you.
I agree with that. Kids always like it at the Ikea food place, you know what you're getting, and it's cheap. It is what it is and if you catch them at the right time the food can be a lot better than that. The fish Gary had was probably stuck on the hot plate for an hour or two so was dry as a bone. Fair comment.

Whitby then. Abbey Wharf fish and chips was excellent on Friday 8th March 2024. Succulent fish, chips were fresh and crispy. Curry sauce - absolutely spot on.

@@GaryEatsI always used to thing they were fine for what they were: a dirt cheap snack at the end of a slog shopping trip. They were tasty enough rather than amazing. Same for the ice cream. Meatballs are always pretty good. Interesting also how the menu varies overseas. In Spain, I had a really nice meat on the bone thing with mash, since it was one of the few GF options there.
Pre pandemic, on Thursdays or Friday during some months, my local Ikea used to do a main meal and free refills on cups of tea for £1.50. Used to enjoy in the afternoon after work.

Gary, while I agree the fish and chips was not the best it was affordable, and lots of people are happpy to eat it and not worry too much about the quality, being guided by the price. The meatballs looked quite good, and good value for the money. These are tough times for folks so if it's a treat for them I think we have to bow to peoples pockets, but a good review yet again, thank you.

I agree with that. Kids always like it at the Ikea food place, you know what you're getting, and it's cheap. It is what it is and if you catch them at the right time the food can be a lot better than that. The fish Gary had was probably stuck on the hot plate for an hour or two so was dry as a bone. Fair comment.

Good evening Gary👍to be fair to them the price point was very good especially in the current financial climate. It was a shame about the Biriyani and fish but the meatballs and dime cake alone make it worth a visit. Low yet fair scores and another great review,cheers✌️
