    I've been using the R6 for video and this was so helpful. Using it for photos during the holidays.

    Yeah canon camera connect is very useful. Especialy when you shoot short film with your wife and you are an actor. So it's good to see the frame on phone screen ;)

    I bought the R6 After I download the free footage you've given, Although I still don't have the machine that can edit directly an h.265 codec footage. I was blown away by its details and dynamic range on a clog 10bit. I now have the R6 specifically for video for about 4 Months the 4k60p was great and the Autofocus is out of this world, Keep giving content you'll help a bunch man. Good day.

    Not sure why youtube recommended me your video, but I'm glad they did! I'm in the STL area too, and shoot on an R6!

      Nice! I’ve got quite a few R6 videos, it’s a great camera! And always nice to hear of more creatives in the STL area!

    Nice tips, already using them all, except touch&drag, as the very first thing I did on my R6 after unboxing is permanently disable the touch screen, it has no use in working with the camera, and best thing you do you operate it accidentally an screws all your work. I've got 3 wheels for iso/shutter/aperture, and a joystick to move the AF point without sticking greasy prints and dirt on my precious display. There's no single reason to touch it, especially when making the picture; screen is there for reviewing stuff and checking exposure (after...of course you don't want to use exp sim, just make you lazy; was the second thing I got rid of, after the touch), not to operate the camera while shooting 🙂

      Interesting perspective. I have never heard anyone say that. I suppose we all have workflows and find what works for us, I can’t imagine not touching the screen though for focus now that I’ve used it.

      @@TonyMellinger yeah, of course mine was not an absolute, but just the way i use it and the workflow that best suits me. I started in the film era, so my mindset is "you control three parameters, iso/shutter/aperture, and then you need to focus on the subject". So endless menu, touch options etc, won't fit the bill for me.
      I do activate the touchscreen, though, when i'm shooting video, because it's nice to do focus pulls with touch screen, so actually i'm not a complete neanderthal :-D and of course i enjoy exp sim in video....but that's limited to video, which is a new thing/activity for me, that i learned in the digital era, so i do enjoy the commodities; when shooting pics, my head works like i have a film camera in my hands.
      That's why i would LOVE to totally disable (while shooting) the rear display, like on a DSLR, and have it just for review; the viewfinder has the proximity sensor, so can be activated when i bring camera to my eye, and disabled while the camera is not in my eye, you would save a ton of battery (even if i use eco mode and i'm able to squeeze 850/900 shots from an R6 with a single battery; with 6D i could shoot 1100/12000 shots on a charge, so with mirrorless i'm not actually losing that much).
      You actually can do this, choosing to use just the viewfinder in the menu; but that's the problem, if you choose only viewfinder, when you do press the menu button...the menu shows in the viewfinder as well! While i would like the back screen to activated while using menu. And of course also photo review can happen only from viewfinder. I can't bear why Canon has not a screen mode that makes use only of viewfinder while shooting, but switches to back screen while using menu or photo/video review. Surely would work better on R5 and R, because they have the top lcd display for the shooting parameters, but that's ok also on R6, i'll look at parameters while looking into viewfinder, like i always did with any cropped sensors xxxD's who hasn't the top lcd.

    I just watch your Canon eos R export settings video. Are you doing anything different now since that video?
    Can you please make an update video using the R6 Clog3. I love how your videos look and I am using the same camera. I like how my footage look on PrP but on export I feel like I should be getting more out of what I am getting now ( I am getting bandings every time). I just recently figured out how to expose for clog and now I need to figure out how to get to look its best during edit and export.
    How do you export for socials and for client delivery like weddings? Thank you for making all this helpful videos, been learning a lot from you.

    I wish I could keep the level on screen when recording video! I love the larger My Menu. On my old 6d I think there was only 1 page with 6 spots! Also is there a way to have manual exposure controls for video recording when in Manual photo mode? It seems to only allow auto exposure when on M mode and doing video.

      I agree!! Same with the Histo. Guess we need R5Cs 🤣

      I’m not sure about the manual video mode in photo mode, i typically move the dial to video.

    Love my R6! Out on a shoot and bring my camera to my eye and the histogram and level are plastered in my viewfinder!! How is it possible for them to just appear out of nowhere? Going to the shooting info display after watching you, they are NOT selected to be showing. Any ideas why this is happening, Tony?

    • @TonyMellinger
      @TonyMellinger  2 роки тому

      What!? That’s kinda crazy. I do think you can have different settings for the screen and view finder. Hold the camera up to your eye and hit info to see if that gets rid of it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @karenfloyd4256
      @karenfloyd4256 2 роки тому

      @@TonyMellinger No, it was on both. Had a shoot today, still there. Called my camera store and the gal that I talked to, FIXED it! Her answer? On the back of the camera, one of the "features": if you push the "info" button (on the right side back) once, you get a new set of info in the viewfinder. Press it twice, and the large histogram and level come on. Press a third time, and it goes back to what is was. (Wha??) I manhandle my camera, I discover that my fingers are always all over the place (often turning my Af to MF on the lens accidentally). Now an additional thing to be aware of, but sure is great to find the answer!! There you go! 😊

    • @TonyMellinger
      @TonyMellinger  2 роки тому +1

      @@karenfloyd4256 you should be able to turn off how many "info screens" you have. I actually have some turned off so that doesn't happen.
