Good Quality Video, well thought out. However as an event photographer, the biggest upgrade in the R6 / R6 mkii is the Touch Screen Function of "Touch & Drag AF Settings: in [AF4 for mkii] and AF1 in original R6]. This allows you to have your screen folded back on to your camera and use your right thumb in either 'Relative' or 'Absolute' values....I keep mine on 'Relative'. Through the EVF you will now see an orange colored football that will move to any place you move your thumb... it is easily 2x fast as the joystick. AND as many people found out, the joystick became a weakpart and worn quickly in the original R6. Give it a Shot, you might like it much better!
Amazing feedback William, I really appreciate it. I will try Touch and Drag AF for a while and make a video about it. For some reason it didn't stick the first time I tried it, but on the other hand I was even more of a beginner than I'm now, so might have been to soon. Thank you for sharing, I love it. Anything else you think I should try?
Thanks so much. Found this super helpful and it inspired me to go down a rabbithole and watch a bunch of your other videos! You explain things great! Side note, all the sudden, after changing a bunch of my custom buttons to reflect your suggestions, my shutter button stopped working- yikes! I tried changing them back one at a time to see if it fixed anything (along with all the usual attempted solutions- power on/off, remove battery, etc) so I'm assuming it's unrelated to these customizations, and just a coincidence that I'm encountering this issue at the same time, but thought I'd check to see if you had any ideas what may have happened to cause my shutter button to suddenly stop working!??
I’m sorry to hear about your problems. I would double check that you have shutter on your button. If so, activate touch shutter on LCD to test shutter. If you can take photos witch touch, then a setting or faulty button If you can’t take photos, it might be a shutter issue. Test to remove lens and reattach. Sometimes electronics can cause shutter to get stuck
Very nice and clear. Having used the R6 for a year as well I initially tried to program lots of different settings following others. I eventually stuck with a set but then found as I learned my shooting style more I would make tweeks to my custom settings. My setup is very similar to your apart from I use the DoF button to swap from one-shot to servo and have the third button on the back (metering) set to my recall settings. Once nice thing you can do is setup different custom buttons for each of the C1,2,3 presets.
I love the thought about custom buttons on C1, C2, C3. It's so easy to forget how dynamic the camera can become using the C-buttons. Nice input. I might make a new video about this. Thx m8
Thank you 🙏❤️ Cage is two parts. Primary it’s for mounting points. Cage makes it possible to rig a camera (video in the making). A side effect is that it also protects the camera a little better Downside is added weight and size
Hi!, nice video. loved the details on how to make shooting easier. now what is your opinion on assigning recall shooting function to AF point selection button next to * button instead of depth of field button.
Thank you 🧡🙏 I like it. If not using DoF button, that's where I would put it. If you just want to test it, program both and save to C1 and C2. Makes it easy to test different setups. I got a Custom Shooting mode video just released that might be helpful
@@persvanstrom No, no video work at all. I photograph nearly everything apart from sports, from concerts, weddings, dogshows to landscapes, nature, macro, old buildings, amateur models ...

Hi! Is there a way to use manual exposure in video mode when saving the custom settings (C1, C2, C3)? Even my 80D can do that but for some reason I can't seem to be able to save video settings (like frame rate, shutter speed and iso combinations) in the custom modes, only for photos.
You cant save any video settings to the R6 in Custom shooting modes (C1-3) unfortunately. That is available in the R5, but not R6 sadly. Only photography modes/settings.
pew, a very long video for five tips. It would be better to show the tips in the timeline. So that you can get idea what funktions you were describing ;)
I hate that you have to hold the button down for the eye auto focus. I wish I could just toggle between eye auto focus and spot focus, without having to hold down a button or turn off capability of other focus modes
@@danidah yes you can. you can choose which AF modes are available in the menu. and then I map this to the top back right button (next to the star button). easy access to toggle between the two you want and then just keep it in continuous AF in the menu and you've got exactly what you asked for
@@adamwhittingham86 but your suggestion turns off the capability of the other focus modes which I don’t want to do (stated in my comment). I wonder how much time it would take to reactivate them in the few circumstances that I do use the other options.

Thx for that 👍

Thx m8 🙏 The joystick also has center AF on click, so makes it fast and reliable. In crowds I sometimes force move auto AF with it 🎥

concerning the fith fonction (C1, C2, C3), is it possible to save video modes in order to switch between them ? Thx
Not on the R6 (R5 has it). The R6m2 has support for it, making it a coin toss if they will add that to the m1 with firmware.
Thanks!

Point 1: isn't touch & drag like 10x faster?
Yeah, but never used it from start, so for me it's actually slower. As with all functions, what works best for you is the one you should use.
I hate that you have to hold the button down for the eye auto focus. I wish I could just toggle between eye auto focus and spot focus, without having to hold down a button or turn off capability of other focus modes

You can do that by switich continuous af setting. The downside is battery will drain faster
