This video was really awesome.I loved the way you painted the leaves.Thank you so much..and I would be grateful if you make a video on painting a bird!please make one..
Marvellous . . . . a succinct yet comprehensive how--to with an admirable result. Dare I ask . . . .would love to see your artistic skill on cornfields (maize, not harvested) particularly the side edge of the growth where light meets the dark of the undergrowth. Every success to you meanwhile . . . . lovely work!.
Thank you so much! :) If you'd like to message me with a picture, I'll see what I can do for you. I never thought to paint a corn field before, but it sounds like fun!
Thanks, Devyn - once I've found a suitable picture, I'll send it to you. Meanwhile, have again just watched 'your tree' - well worth the time! Warmest wishes!
Hello Devyn, I have a question regarding fat over lean. You have mentioned while painting the tree trunk, you put thinner (consistency) over thicker (base layer), which is not adhereing to the fat over lean, thick over thin rule. Watching, it worked great, the thinner paint over the thicker paint gave contrast and control over the two layers. Can you elaborate please, I know bob ross has mentioned going thin over thick many times, I feel like I am missing something. Can you elaborate, please. Thank you for your awesome video.
nice tutorial.. only thing i have to say is please tell us what type of brushes you are using for each detail. it will help people just getting into painting when knowing that ( might also help people gain confidence seeing the work they do actually work and thus also learn different ways the strokes work so they can naturally learn them and also then see what else can work )
Yes, the success of painting depends significantly on knowing what brush type and size is used. Wo this info many will be frustrated qhen their attempts fail bc they weren't using the correct brush. Please identify!
I loved the tutorial... you show the things which other videos do not show like how much medium to mix for the given base...coz you learn the techniques but once you start painting the same thing does not happen because the amount medium changes... Moreover I love your hands, they are beautiful :-)

That was really Owsome.... Can u please make a painting on velvet pepper... I meant to say that... I want to... Learn how to paint on velvet pepper - - -!! Please upload that type of painting
Hi, Rajput! I'm not familiar with velvet paper aside from the type you put in your printer to reproduce art. I feel like it's probably quite similar to the Strathmore Bristol smooth paper though? Are you talking about something similar to that?
I’m brand new to using oils and this is probably a silly question but if I want to use the same brush I used for dark colors to use with the light, what do you use to clean off that brush and do you dry it with anything? Please and thank you 😊
There is no silly question. :) There are a couple things you can do if you don't have Bob Ross type space where you can beat your brush clean LOL. You can wash the whole brush off with your brush washer containing some type of turpentine-esque substance, although I greatly prefer Chelsea Classical Studio Lavender Oil Brush Cleaner or undiluted Citrasolv, because they're not gnarly toxic and you can use them indoors just fine. Brush your brush against the base of the brush cleaner a bit and you can dry your brush off on a rag or a lint-free paper towel. (Best to dry it off pretty well or the clinging solution will thin down the paint you dip your brush into.) Or, if your brush is small, the colors you're using aren't too different from each other, and you're lazy about it (as I all too frequently am) just wipe it off well with a baby wipe. It gets most of the paint off- but be sure to wash your brush properly in your brush cleaner now and then and also, of course, when you're done for the day. I hope that helps! Welcome to oil painting!
You can use any green that leans more to the yellow instead of the blue. If your green leans more blue, mixing it with yellow will result in a rather nauseating green, so just keep that in mind. If a blue-leaning green is all you happen to have on hand, lighten it with a white instead. :)
Only the structure I let dry. After that, it's a wet-on-wet technique. Just make sure that you add more medium to your paint per each layer. Thin paint sticks to thick paint, but not the other way around. :)
Devyn Samara thanks! I have already used your cloud technique on a barn scene. I did not have portrait pink but used a flesh tone instead. The clouds we're not as bright as I wanted, but loved the technique. Again, thanks!
Hi, there! Thanks for your question! Arches describes the paper as "Conservation: with alkaline reserve, acid-free, no optical brightening agents (permanent in accordance with ISO 9706)", so it is considered a Permanent Paper. Archival paper is ISO 11108. I hope that helps! :)
Yep! I think it stands for International Standard of something. I don't know what the O stands for. lol And thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad! :D
I'd marry you for your voice & worry about falling in love later. I'd be an incredibly loving, supportive husband, & all I'd ask in return is a weekly reading of excerpts from my favorite classic novels. Nice painting & tutorial, too. 🙂

AMAZEBALLS!
nice leaves
Please, mention other substitutes for the colours for those who doesn't have what you have

Nice and make more to like
Keep it on please
Thank you so much 😍
You're so welcome! :D
Great video ... will you consider lowering the music please, conflicts at times with your voice. Thank you, jt
Do you allow you paint to dry between layers?
Only the structure I let dry. After that, it's a wet-on-wet technique. Just make sure that you add more medium to your paint per each layer. Thin paint sticks to thick paint, but not the other way around. :)

I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you for sharing! :D
Do you ever paint trees with moss hanging?
Hi, Barbara! Sure! I can do that. I'll put it on my "to do" list for you! :D
Can't hear you...
Can I ask are oil paper archival or only linen canvas ???
Hi, there! Thanks for your question! Arches describes the paper as "Conservation: with alkaline reserve, acid-free, no optical brightening agents (permanent in accordance with ISO 9706)", so it is considered a Permanent Paper. Archival paper is ISO 11108. I hope that helps! :)
So sorry to ask again but what is ISO? Is this some sort of paper grading system ?? I love your tutorials btw!
