  • Going Medieval has a lot of resources, rooms that use them, and scheduling to manage to build into 3 dimensions. You can't copy a perfect base, but you can change how you think about designing a base (and learn from my mistakes) and make sure your next one is flawless*

    Good unnunciation, info, and editing (5 things on the list got me). Visuals are also actually useful as opposed to just b-roll. Take a like and a sub my guy.

    I've noticed raiders will go after production buildings first to destroy them. Having them at the entrance also acts as a decoy so you can attack them while they are distracted.

    0:58 My preferred food chain is *Crops >> Kitchen >> Cellar >> Dining*. My cellar would need to be much larger if it stored crops as well as meals. Furthermore, my cellar is usually a short well-paved distance into a hillside with kitchen enroute instead of several floors down. Also, a single high-priority shelf storing some meals inside a coolish dining room can save travel.
    Many thanks for all these useful videos. 👍

      That's super fair. I like to keep raw food for options, planting, and to avoid using labor before it's needed, but there's a lot of optimizations and choices to make!

      I'm definitely starting to really notice the effects of purposefully building my new and biggest base for looks over efficiency haha

    If you put an hour of leisure time when they wake up and one hour before they go to bed, you'd likely minimise the wasted time of 2 hours of leisure. Assuming their bed is near the leisure hub.

    • @JustDontDie
      @JustDontDie  2 роки тому

      I think I'll try that out. My initial worry is that, by the time they actually get from their work to the leisure hub, it'll be time to go to sleep. I've also found that 2 hours of leisure in the morning isn't always enough time to top everything off anyways, so I don't know how much time is wasted. Still, I'll give it a try.

    Wow this is good stuff I try to make my village look good with varying building designs and I didnt even consider their positioning to boost efficiency (except the kitchen dining and crop area part). However, I observed that you had a one large crop area for cabbage... And I dont know if this is necessary, but does it not become a nuisance when crop blight occurs?

    • @JustDontDie
      @JustDontDie  2 роки тому

      Thanks! You could absolutely keep multiple areas, but I prefer the look of one moderate field and I had more than enough food from all the bee skeps anyways.

    Do you tend to prioritize efficiency or looks in your base? Or do you split the difference?

      Better choice - balance between efficiency and how base looking

      @@tcd2cool I feel that. Clay is so nice to build with, but so ugly that I almost never use it for anything as soon as I can move away.

      @@tcd2cool I remember first game in going medivial, August 7 2019. Then am just playing as noob and build most structures from....... CLAY AND HAY. YEEES SIR! I'm builded big walls (on my opinion in 2019 been enough 2 levels of walls) and after first trebuchets most part of my buildings been destroyed 🌞🌞🌞

  • @jeffjones7108

    I'm thinking about using smelters and kilns for 'free' heating. Using a corridor from a smelter as ducted AC, with windows from that corridor into the rooms I want to heat. Bedrooms, for instance. With a night-shift of smelters in that example. But I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Just seems a waste to use all those sticks in braziers when smelters are throwing off waste heat, plus turning those braziers off during the day is annoying. And optimising is most of the fun in a game like this.

    • @JustDontDie
      @JustDontDie  2 роки тому

      I could see that being super efficient, but you'd also need a way to vent heat during the summer. Between sticks being in almost constant surplus and my tendency to put bedrooms close to the back and smelters close to the front, I'm not sure it'd be worth the effort, but I agree that that kinda thing is exactly what makes base design games so fun :)

    I tried the kitchen above then cellar below, but the kitchen warmed up the cellar so much, it wasn't worth it.
    idk if it was a bug but the heat from the kitchen was enough to rot the food in the cellar faster than it should

    • @JustDontDie
      @JustDontDie  2 роки тому

      Nah, that's intended behavior. Your cellar should have its entrance just outside your kitchen. And not be beneath the kitchen or any other building with heat production.

    • @JustDontDie
      @JustDontDie  2 роки тому +2

      You're good, no need to apologize! A skep is a small structure for housing bee colonies. In game, you unlock it with the beekeeping technology and build it from wood and hay. A settler can set bees up for a few in game hours, then you'll get honey and beeswax after a few in game days.
