  • It's time to get out of town with "Adelaide," my 1976 Jaguar XJC 6 Litre with wifey (camera lady). But it needs some issues.
Firstly, repair the fuel guage and also will probably need some headlights for the journey!

Thanks for sharing your approach to resolving the electrical issues, this is one area I lack confidence, seeing your steps made it seem simple with Bradley’s as the reference.

Good to get those niggly little faults sorted. Makes for a much more pleasant experience.

Great work! I fixed the license plate lights on my 91 XJ40 this afternoon. Both bulb holders were all cracked and not good anymore, but I did a little something with leds light bulbs and now it's fine!

The fuel tank switch is so British... Never use 5 parts when 37 will do... Good work, thanks for the video!

Big fan of your resourcefulness. Satisfaction derived from personal effort must be huge. I am about to jump in the deep end with a Jaguar purchase largely because you have taken the fear out of a brand that used to hold me back. Heart says XJR, wallet says 2003 XJS V6 for around $12K. Keep up the good work. Regards. John

I get heart palpitations when Brett starts pulling things apart.

On my first long trip in my XJ12C I accidently ran one tank dry so switched to the other but it did not happen and I came to a stop and could not get the car to start, despite the other tank being full. Got some fuel into the empty tank and she fired straight up and then changed to the other tank. I suspect the same as you that switch contact is dirty. Now when I change tanks, if that fuel gauge does not move - I hit the switch 3 or 4 times and that usually does the trick - like you I need to pull the switch and clean.

Scary that the whole car is dependent on that potentially flaky fuel transfer switch ! Great that you and Bradley figured out the niggles...
I have to say that when you said you were imitating Harry's XJC tour of Ireland I thought you'd be going round Tasmania, but NSW should be fun to follow...

The sender is in the other end of the tank. The lead you touched in the wheel well are to power the pump.

Not on the V12s. Yes, the later 6 cylinders have the submerged pumps, but the 12 has a single pump in the boot and senders in the wheel arches. I should have made it clear in the video. Thanks for watching.

Looking forward to the anniversary trip. Enjoyable and interesting vid, as usual, and congrats on getting the unexpected request from a firm to review their product. I'm sure you'll get many more 'sponsors.' Slightly off-topic. that was an amazing mini-orchestra of your feathered friends in the background in the early part of the vid. Screeching, warbling and much more. You probably don't notice them, but I love hearing them and, being a Pom, ain't got a clue what they are.

You'd have enjoyed no doubt watching Harry hang the Jag's tail out going around a corner in Ireland in the wet.

Bummer, the book doesn't seem available in the US and eBay down under won't ship to US. Not in stock at eBay US. I'll keep an eye out.

Brett, have you also got nearly 40 psi oil pressure without a running engine?

I wondered who was going to notice that!! If I tap the guage, it goes back to zero. Possibly just needs a clean inside.

I have tried to buy one of Bradley’s books but he doesn’t ship to NZ. I’ve left him a comment months ago but no go. Is there another way to buy this book other than eBay. Cheers Deano
