Jaguar XJC RESTOMOD - Part 6 - Engine Bay Prep & How Many Hours Have Been Spent On The XJCR So Far!

- In this latest episode (Part 6), we are round at the engine bay, prepping it in readiness to drop in the freshly rebuilt AJ16 4.0 Supercharged Engine, as originally found in a XJ6 X300 XJR.
Unfortunately, we’ve found some corrosion that we need to address before we can continue with the Restomod project. Whilst rust on a 1970s Jaguar is common, and it’s not a huge issue, Tom’s a little disappointed with the unexpected delay!
Tom and James discuss what’s left to do to get the car finished and they go through the hours spent on the project so far and the predict how many are left to finish the XJC ‘RRR’.
Hope you enjoy the latest episode, please like and subscribe to help grow the channel and thank you for the all the support so far!

Interesting and wonderful to see the engine restored
Tom i am so glad you have a UA-cam channel because who doesn't love a Jag this is going to be epic great work
Glad to hear you are enjoying the channel! 👍
First phone call when my lottery numbers come up - Tom is getting my money for a build !
Good luck with the lottery - I’ll look forward to the call! 👍
Somebody i know asked me where they should take an XK v12 that had some noisy valves and on the back of Harrys and your UA-cam channel i suggested you. So the channels working.
Thanks Rob for recommending us - much appreciated 🙏 hope you continue to enjoy the channel!
I like the chat and banter 😂 keep it coming. That’s what it’s all about a good laugh and having fun.
Thanks and that’s the plan 🙏👍
Cool project!
Thanks Alex, glad you are enjoying watching the build! 🙏👍
If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. I’m not a fan of cutting corners as it invariably leads to more work later on. I’m loving how the XJC is coming on but am now worried about what wheels are going on it. 🤓
Thanks Nigel - we think the wheels compliment the car. You won’t have to wait much longer as they will be revealed in Part 7!
My favourite jag 🥰 great video Tom 👍
Thanks very much - glad to hear you like the XJC RRR 👍👍
Enjoying this series, cant wait to see what the final results look like.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos and progress on the XJC R! 👍
Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos and progress on the XJC R! 👍
Are you going to put some shell stiffening in? They are flimsy cars, need some meat added especially around the engine bay and the cross member behind the front seats
Enjoying this guys keep it up
Thanks Paul - we will! Part 7 being edited now!
Great progress. Enjoying your channel, keep it up. Looking forward to seeing which wheels you've chosen.
Thanks Jeff - not long to wait now, all will be revealed in Part 7!
this could easily end up been my dream car...one of the most beautiful cars ever with the supercharged engine ...
🙏👍😉
A few questions for you that I struggle with on my build, definitely along the cheaper DIY build route and also had significant rust issues to fix :-)
Are you going to have AC? merging the Series 2 evaporator/condensor and AC control with the XJR compressor?
Where are you going to mount the intercooler as there is very little space upfront, maybe remove the AC evaporator?
What about the radiator and electric fans as the AJ16 does not have an engine driven fan as per the original 4.2 engine. I used the original S2 radiator and electic fans from the XJR, cut down and mounted to a custom fan shroud.
Finally the XJR has 2 fuel pumps in just the one tank, the second pump is powered on at higher revs. Will one large electric motor suffice and if so, how will you plumb the fuel lines to a single pump plus the fuel return? 🤔🤔🤔
Love this build! What are you doing for the tear sway bar? Changing the front sway bar?
If you ever need an XK for the channel, I'm happy to let you work on mine, you know something simple like a manual swap or rebuild the suspension 😂
That is kind of you…so selfless! 🤣🤣

Pleased to know you work to a high standard of finish. Having to look at a car daily that has been botched would be soul destroying. You get what you pay for.
👍👍
May? It's July now.
Hi Patrick - This segment was filmed at the very end of May, hence the reference. We are editing Part 7 which was filmed mainly in June. As our main focus is the workshop and this is a bit of fun, we are fitting in the UA-cam stuff in and around other jobs and our workload. Hope you are enjoying the videos!
The camera guy needs to not talk as much.
That’s a tall order - as he likes to talk and we need James! Otherwise we wouldn’t be creating this content to you. He films, edits and pins Tom down to bring these episodes to UA-cam for your enjoyment! 👍
My thoughts exactly, love the work and what they are doing but way too much talking.
Actually the chatting is good - BUT I would like to see more of the actual work being done (even as a B-roll). Retropower do this pretty well…
We have had the same discussion too and we think this something for us to work on. We need to film more of the progress as we go - we recognise this would be beneficial for the videos! We’ll work on it…🙏👍
@@tomlenthallsworkshop maybe setup a camera on time lapse and then do a voice over for the final edit.?
Again too much irrelevant banter - stopped watching - will unsubscribe and thumbs down
Haha what a muppet. Get back to your Corgi collection
