The clipping mode colors are different between the El Guapo (Asabi) and the other two. Blue is asymmetric clipping while on the Broken Arrow and Golden Boy are symmetrical. Purple modes are the opposite as well. Green and Amber are the same. FYI.
@@davideoverman yeah interesting, I’ve been using mine for a good two or three years. That and a Timmy to both boost my amp overdrive. I’ve tried a few others but keep coming back to the Goldenboy
Did you play with the Golden Boys “Easter Eggs” trim pots inside?, my guess is you could get the overdrive of the GB to sound like the El and the Broken.
Great comparison, i owned the golden boy and kept the broken arrow. It has more body indeed. I think humbuckers sound better on the golden boy, single coils on broken arrow
Thanks for the comparison. Very useful. I own a broken arrow. But most of the time it is just a little too compressed. Golden boy sounds more up my alley.
The broken Arrow is for that specific TS sound that you use to boost a Strat Bridge. It's a bit compressed otherwise. As many options as there may be, it's not particularly spectacular. The Guapo is quite a bit more open sounding if you ask me. Similar EQ profile but much different (to me much preferred) timber. The golden boy is the Golden Child of the three. Very usable across the range without a harsh midrange bump. They are all not bad with that setup, but my money is on the Golden Boy (oh wait, it already has been). I do think BA and El G are both very good for specific type of sounds with El G being more versatile.
My question is: if we adjust the settings of broken arrow, can we have a tone similar to golden boy in transparence, middles and highs? in other words, can we have the natural fat tone of broken arrow and the more clear tone of golden boy in just one pedal?
Your demos are awesome! Please continue them….thank you!
Great review. Of note, the gain on the BA can be pushed further with the boost side of the pedal and now entering somewhat to distortion territory.
By the way, your review was just awesome!🔥
Great review thanks for taking the time for running each of them, glad I stumble upon your video! Blessings!
Welcome. God bless!

I just got my golden boy from sweetwater yesterday! It really is a great pedal. Nice comparison😀
Thanks! Enjoy
Hey David, how long did the Goldenboy last for you?
@@BaronsDuju I’m still using it today and it’s still great!!

Outstanding review! I appreciate your comments about about how you describe the various tones. Much appreciated!!

Yea good point. 👍👍
I am actually using the golden boy with my strat and I am quite happy with it :)

Very welcome :) I'm sure you will enjoy the golden boy
I bought the Golden Boy and The Optimist and am very impressed with both. Both are open, uncompressed transparent drives yet sound very different.
Thanks folks, I ended up buying a Golden Boy myself. Quite content with it so far.

I think it might be hard to achieve both transparent and mid push tone in 1 pedal.
Pedais tops demais.
Valeu mano.. me muito ajudou aqui ... Jah Bless
Should I exchange my protein to El guapo? haha
Do you like the broken arrow or the protein green side more ?
I prefer the protein :)
@@GuitarEmerge cool. Can you describe why you prefer it?
@@Joshuaalan21 Sounds more HD to my ears :)
I know James Tyler guitars are top tier, but damn those headstocks are ass ugly.
