I was considering this pedal before I watched this...now I’m definitely going to get one for my HX Stomp rig. I gotta say that AC15 preset you made sounds incredible. Good work dude.
Thank you!!!! My sweet wife bought me this pedal for Christmas. And without a manual I knew I needed help. Your explanation was spot on. Can’t wait to dive on and dial some great tones from this innovative pedal! PS maybe paint one wall the dark grey and three wall a lighter shade of grey.
Haha, yeah. I listened to many videos comparing the 2, and I thought the Broken Arrow sounded a little more dark. Is that your experience? That's another reason why I went with it because I have a tele and feel like darker overdrives sound better through my rig especially at louder volumes. Plus with that EQ, I can always brighten things up. And...it was black haha
@@HeyWorshipLeader it’s definitely darker than the Golden Boy. Which is actually why I didn’t love it haha. I found that it just didn’t play well with the rig that I was using. However almost everything has changed now since I had it originally. So it would probably work better now.
That's great! Thanks for being a subscriber. It's never too late to learn something new. I actually didn't learn how to play guitar until I was 18. And many of my friends were already good. I'm so glad I didn't give up. You got this!
If one doesn’t care about MIDI and wants similar versatility for a bit less $, the JHS Kilt is the way to go. It’s around $200 and has three toggle switches. David Hyslop uses it.
I’ve had the broken arrow now for like 3 months and I’m just now finding out about the drifferent cycles of BOOST!! I thought there was only different cycles for the drives. Where have I been!!!! XD I use both the broken arrow and the golden boy I’m honestly a fan of the darker tone you get out of the broken arrow and the bright tone out of the golden boy. Best of both worlds
Wow! Now you have an almost infinite supply of tones knowing about the different boosts and having both pedals! Thats awesome man, Thanks for watching!
Just got a source audio aftershock (la lady). Can load 2 different od/ distortion types which can be stacked, used in parallel, or switched between. Pedal was $90(used) + $40 (external foot switch). You can have complete midi control for another $100.
Love it man, thanks for the video! I’m thinking of buying this and using as a low gain drive on my board right now, then moving towards a more travel friendly board with a helix stomp and morning star mc6. This would definitely be sweet!
The aqua colored boost is the same as the “Amp Mode” pedal alone which is the nicest boost I’ve ever used. I borrowed a BA once and loved it but found I never used the gain cycling and usually just the boost if I wanted more gain. I definitely think using its MIDI capability makes the features much more worth the price of admission so it should PERFECT for you. Great tone though and very smooth. I do miss it but now I have a Protein and Vertex Dynamic Distortion and an RC Booster clone. I don’t find myself wanting at all with that drive section (until the next round of GAS 😂).
Sounds great. I know this is a year old video, but have you thought about upgrading to the asiba by Jackson audio. I've been flipping between the broken arrow or the asabi.
I might be late to the party but can someone please clarify MIDI quandary I have. Is it true that MIDI presets do not store EQ settings, and basically regardless of the preset you choose it will be affected by the current position of EQ knobs? Basically, within certain presets one is basically storing chosen OD mode (so to speak)volume and volume settings? I remember seeing that somewhere so wanted to confirm. Hope I am wrong with this it would be pity to overlook EQ settings within stored preset.
Thanks man! I know, I'm still trying to select a color. I'm gonna need some color samples! I don't want the color to swallow up the space and bring depth.
Hey!, I have a Question, Can you connect the midi thru of the HX Stomp going to the midi input of the Jet Pedals Revelation, because i think i would save a lot of money if i didnt have to get a Disaster Area Midi Box, i suppose using a Midi to TRS would Work?
Re Paint : SOFT PASTEL MINT GREEN CONTRAST TO YOUR WARM LIGHTING, color contrast to the guitar, shelving, desk. Dark charcoal - DELETES ALL YOUR FURNITURE
Sounds great! So are you just running your external compressor always on? I always run Deluxe Comp first in my patches, and the biggest thing that keeps me from getting an external OD is the fact that I'd ALSO have to get an external compressor, which is kind of annoying. Have to purchase 2 pedals just to get one in essense. It would also mean more tap-dancing when I switch to acoustic because the compressor would be one more thing to turn off. Any tips on how you work through this? Do you run acoustic through your board and just "do the dance" to get the settings right?
Thanks man. So I didn't have my external compressor on at all in this video. Some (not all) of my presets have a compressor at the front. But you're right, I like the compressor before my drives and since I already had an external comp, I didn't have to take that into account when getting an external OD like you do. Out of laziness and pure ease, I haven't used my acoustic through my board yet. I usually just plug straight in...but I'm gonna be diving into acoustic with the Stomp soon. As for what you could do to avoid purchasing an external comp is to run your OD through your FX Loop. Now the down side is that it would take up another block...but at least that's how you could get it before the comp in the Stomp
Hi firstly gotta say I love your videos! So currently I currently have the HX Stomp (which I currently use in snapshot mode) but am trying to get more versatile with the stomp mode. And I also have a Soul Food Overdrive (By E.H). I’ve been eyeing the Broken Arrow for a while now. And I’m considering buying it. In your opinion what setup should I use the Broken Arrow with the stomp & Soul Food? Appreciate it!! God Bless!!
I guess it depends on budget and space...the Broken Arrow is plenty for me...the benefit is the midi capability of V2 that you can control via snapshots through Command Center
@@HeyWorshipLeader so I am willing to buy the Broken Arrow. But I guess to clarify. How would you use the Soul Food along side with the Broken Arrow? Appreciate the reply!
This could replace my Timmy and my Katana both in one, thus freeing a power slot to add a bloom on my board I already have the prism so at that point I'll have the golden trio
So the only thing the midi can not control is knobs: the active EQ, the volume, gain setting, and boost. It would be cool if it could. But you CAN choose the gain cycle, and both the overdrive and boost circuits per switch. Meaning one switch could have the Amber OD setting with no boost at the gain cycle at 50%, and another switch could have the Green OD setting with gain cycle at 100% and the aqua boost on. You can go back and forth between all those settings without a problem.
Thanks for the demo and convincing me I do not need this pedal. The gain cycle is kind of gimmicky, if you know how to work a volume pedal or your guitar volume knob. And the tones themselves aren’t anything that really inspire… me anyways.
@@HeyWorshipLeader I think charcoal looks good. Though if it were me, I think I'd choose a lighter shade. The darker the color, the smaller the perceived space. That is purely my taste though. Do what you want!

Hello! great video! what you think about the MIDI implementation with HX STOMP and some issues with latency on switchs, Thanks in advance

Question: is the boost stacked after or before the overdrive?
The boost is in front of the drive for even more gain!

Yes. Exactly right. Unless you have more than one midi pedal. Then you’ll need a midi hub because the midi flow will terminate at the REV

Thanks!
Quick question. What are your thoughts putting this on the FX Loop? Which is better? That or putting it in front of the Stomp? Thanks!
the only reason to put it in the FX Loop is if you are using compression or wah or pitch in the Stomp and want to put your drive after it.

The 4 drive settings sound the same, at least over UA-cam.
Thats because he was supposed to push the drive button a second time after cycling thru the presets.
